I had a terrible experience with Dr. Proehl, who made extremely insensitive comments. He also said he was leaving the company for a new career, although he was supposed to assist with surgery later. I will not miss him.

A great place where children receive the best care! The staff and providers truly care about the children and work together to ensure everything is right for their young patients. The Carl Clinic provides excellent care for our children. Our pulmonologist, Dr. Timothy, is wonderful—very thorough and kind. The clinic offers children many options and specialties.

Unfortunately, my son and I did not have a good experience here. Every time we entered, the front desk staff were kind, helpful, and welcoming, as were all the nurses I encountered. However, my son's doctor, George Gerolimatos, was not. I do not normally share something this personal, but given the seriousness of the situation, I decided to describe my experience. My son is about three and a half years old. Dr. Gerolimatos raised concerns about my son's undescended testicle. If not corrected, this could cause future problems such as infertility, cancer risk, and/or developmental issues. I prefer natural treatment when possible, and my son is unvaccinated because of our religious beliefs. However, if his life were at risk and surgery would benefit his health, I would consent to surgery. My son and I missed two appointments with the surgeon. The first time, my son had the flu and I could not take him. The second time, I mistakenly thought it was a follow-up and went to the surgeon's office—I am human and make mistakes. The doctor became very angry. Everything seemed fine when I entered, but the atmosphere clearly changed when he heard that I had accidentally missed the appointment. The room became tense, and both my son and I felt anxious. He then brought in another doctor to discuss the risks of my son's undescended testicle, and the conversation turned into an interrogation about whether my son was vaccinated. To be clear, I have no objection to their asking questions, as I fully support doctors ensuring that patients live in safe, healthy environments. My concern was how he handled it and how humiliated I felt. What happened next concerned me most. I am not a medical professional, but I am a capable mother and know my son well because I am with him every day. I told Dr. Gerolimatos that recently my son's testicle often seemed to retract into the scrotum. He dismissed this and said he had examined him twice and would not examine him again. I therefore took my son to Mercy Children's Urology in St. Louis for an evaluation. The doctor there told me that my son has a retractile testicle, meaning that when he is nervous or uncomfortable, such as when a doctor is about to touch him, he retracts the testicle into his body. This is common in children his age and requires regular monitoring. They even told me that my son's doctor saying he would not examine him again was unprofessional. Overall, I found this approach very unprofessional and will be changing doctors.

I had a very poor experience with neurologist Dr. Anem Koli on Park Street in Urbana, Illinois. She was rude, arrogant, and condescending. Her communication skills were poor, and she became very impatient when asked important health questions. This is how she routinely treats patients! Avoid scheduling with her if possible!
