Lora Shahine, MD, FACOG, is a dual board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and obstetrician-gynecologist dedicated to teaching, advocating for patient care, and breaking the stigma surrounding fertility and miscarriage.
She completed her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Stanford University, where she served as a clinical instructor in obstetrics and gynecology, contributed to multiple research publications on fertility and recurrent pregnancy loss, and completed the program with research and teaching awards. Dr. Shahine completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, where she received a teaching award and the annual faculty award for outstanding research in women's health. She earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University in North Carolina and her undergraduate Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Shahine joined PNWF in 2009, serves as a clinical associate professor at the University of Washington, and enjoys teaching OBGYN residents in the Swedish residency program.
A prolific writer, she has published more than 75 peer-reviewed research projects, contributed to The New York Times, The Washington Post, and many media outlets, and written several books, including the bestsellers Not Broken: An Approachable Guide to Miscarriage and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and Planting the Seeds of Pregnancy: An Integrative Approach to Fertility Care.
She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Seattle Gynecologic Society, Pacific Coast Reproductive Society, and Pacific Coast Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, and is a past chair of the ASRM Early Pregnancy Loss Special Interest Group and Social Media Special Interest Group. She serves on the boards of the Babyquest Foundation for fertility grants and Doctors for Fertility, a nonprofit focused on reproductive rights education.
Dr. Shahine reaches more than 3 million people worldwide each month with reproductive health education by hosting the Baby or Bust Fertility podcast and creating educational content on YouTube, Instagram, Tiktok, and most social media platforms.
Dr. Shahine lives in Seattle with her husband and children and enjoys travel, skiing, good food, and spending time with friends and family.
