Dr. Alan Martinez is board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He was drawn to this evolving field because it allows him to partner with patients and provide personalized treatment plans. His goal is to offer care and emotional support during fertility treatment and help patients build or grow their families.
After graduating with honors from San Diego State University with bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology, Dr. Martinez earned his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, a teaching affiliate of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and his fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Dr. Martinez is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Martinez is committed to caring for diverse patient populations. His clinical interests include infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), in vitro fertilization (IVF), oocyte and embryo cryopreservation, and third-party reproduction. He also has expertise in hysteroscopy and advanced laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Martinez is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist specializing in reproductive endocrinology.
Dr. Martinez provides comprehensive care with compassion and individual attention. He treats patients like family and helps them fully understand their treatment plans. He works to build trust and confidence and finds great fulfillment when patients achieve one of their dreams.
Outside work, Dr. Martinez spends time with his wife and two daughters and enjoys photography, cycling, hiking, surfing, and skiing.

The entire staff, including Dr. Zeigler, makes you feel comfortable and cared for. They truly know how to handle frightening and uncomfortable situations and make you feel that you are not alone. They have given me great hope in my fertility journey. Dr. Zeigler takes the time to explain things in terms you can understand, and he is very relatable. The nurses and clinical team are attentive and comforting, holding your hand at every step. I have recommended this practice to friends and will continue to do so. I recently began discussing my fertility journey with Dr. Martinez, and I am very grateful for his care and support. From our first appointment, he made me feel comfortable and truly listened to my concerns. Dr. Martinez is thorough, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I worked there for two weeks and was then unexpectedly fired after the billing manager returned from vacation.
I received no direction, and the women in the office were rude, cold, and not welcoming at all.
I arrived every day between 7:15 and 7:30 even though my start time was 8:30 a.m., but I was told I was late every day.
I was trained by one person who worked a certain number of days at one location, then I had to follow her to another location for a certain number of days. I became ill and had to take Friday off. Everyone treated me differently, and I worked a full day. At the end of that day, I was told I would be fired. When I started, I was never given forms to sign, and I was told they could treat it as though I had never worked there. They did not even know what to do with me. They moved me around as though I were a burden, and I felt judged and discriminated against. Please never work here.

Dr. Zeigler is the best doctor I have ever met! I wish every doctor were as intelligent and kind as he is. I recommend his office 100%. Thanks to him recognizing that my TSH was too high, I had a beautiful daughter at age 40. She is my sunshine, and I am so grateful to him!

I began seeing Dr. Ziegler after four miscarriages. I came under his care in June 2022, completed all blood tests in July, received the results in August, and was pregnant by September. From the start, my husband and I knew we would continue with Dr. Ziegler and his clinic. He is proactive, thorough, thoughtful, and excellent at his work. I love the staff, who have always communicated well. I also like the portal, which was available during my second pregnancy, and the option to meet Dr. Ziegler by Zoom/online meeting when you cannot visit the clinic. This was especially helpful with a baby at home. I cannot praise him enough. He works hard to identify the problem rather than dismissing it. Highly recommended!

Some nurses here are wonderful, and Dr. Martinez is kind but difficult to reach. Unfortunately, during treatment they twice tried to prescribe medication unsuitable for my wife because they reviewed the wrong chart. Both times we saw the same doctor, yet when we asked the attending physician, we were never given all the information from that visit. The nurses and assistants are also kind, but I am uncomfortable when the doctor does not perform the most important procedure and we are uncertain about the qualifications of the person who does. These issues alone are understandable because people make mistakes; we simply wanted to work with our clinical team toward the best outcome. Unfortunately, new charges appeared during treatment and prevented us from scheduling follow-up appointments, while they repeatedly harassed us after we signed. Although the financial department offered to waive the charges, they did not understand how this alienated us as patients. They are responsible for informing us of costs before we make plans involving family building, budgeting, and insurance coordination. Different people produced different amounts and charges under different titles without coordinating internally to simplify the process, explain why they were seeking payment, or provide itemized invoices. My intention is not to diminish anyone’s hard work, but to make them realize that people like my family depend on them. I appreciate everything they did for us, but hope this prompts reflection on areas where everyone can improve. Thank you for all you did.

We were patients of Dr. Ziegler for about two years during our infertility treatment. I will always be grateful that the Reproductive Science Center gave us a chance when another fertility clinic quickly rejected us and would not treat us. I will forever thank Dr. Ziegler and his team for helping us welcome our triplets. 💕

In May, I went for the detailed semen analysis requested by my urologist. They refused to send me the results. Instead, Dr. Alan Martinez called me several times and tried to persuade me to bring my wife there for IVF, even though I had explained that I already had my own doctor. Two weeks ago, I had to repeat the semen analysis. I called several times about the report, and they eventually said it was ready but refused to send it because Dr. Alan Martinez would not sign it! This is both unprofessional and unethical. If you are considering IVF there, save your time and money.

Five stars are not enough to rate RSCNJ. Dr. Ziegler and Dr. Martinez gave us what we had dreamed of but could not achieve on our own.
Dr. Ziegler sat down with us and explained the intimidating egg retrieval process in detail, making sure we understood every word before leaving. He created a protocol tailored to my situation that led to a successful retrieval.
Dr. Martinez then performed the procedure successfully. He was highly skilled and kind, and communicated well with my husband afterward.
Soon after, Dr. Ziegler performed a fresh embryo transfer that ended in a chemical pregnancy. He recommended a “recurrent pregnancy loss” workup. I asked, “Recurrent? This was the first time.” He replied, “Yes, recurrent, because I don’t want it to happen again.” Dr. Martinez performed the next successful transfer, but sadly the pregnancy stopped developing at 10 weeks.
When we returned to Dr. Z for further treatment, he hugged us, shared our disbelief at what had happened, and gave us tremendous medical and emotional support.
After several failed attempts, through no fault of RSCNJ, I asked to add a new medication to my protocol. Dr. Z supported trying it and allowed me to remain on another medication longer than most patients because it gave me peace of mind.
Dr. Z is truly one of a kind. He listens, cares, and is exceptionally thoughtful. Many times, he stayed on the phone with me while delivering bad news to make sure I was okay and understood him. He genuinely empathizes with his patients and celebrates with them too.
His nurses and clinic staff are also first-rate. They eased my anxiety countless times. They were always helpful, patient, and smiling, and they adjusted appointments around my work schedule.
I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. I will never forget the people here. Their care changed our lives. I later referred two friends, and both had excellent results.
We are not just numbers, money, or patients. To them, we are family.
Thank you for everything you have done for me and my family.

New patient? Welcome. Scheduling? Extremely convenient. Staff? Very friendly and put me at ease. Care instructions? They break them down simply according to your needs until you understand. I entered this office with many fears and concerns, and within minutes of speaking with Dr. Zeigler, I had a complete plan to assess my fertility and plan for the future. They set appropriate expectations for processes and procedures, and everything happened exactly as described. In just one month and three visits, I was able to plan the next several years of my life. After my last appointment, I left with tears of joy, not because my health was “perfect,” but because I received real answers and clearly understood what to expect when I am ready to start my family. I am extremely grateful to all the staff at the Toms River and Eatontown offices.

I began my journey here last February. After 3 IUIs and a 3-year journey, I finally became pregnant, and I now have a healthy 3-month-old baby girl! It was something I once thought I would never experience. The doctors and staff worked wonderfully together and were supportive throughout the process. I definitely recommend this clinic!

We struggled with infertility for many years. With Dr. Ziegler's help, we finally achieved our dream. During an awkward moment, Dr. Z answered my call late on a weekday night and guided me through an extremely difficult process. It was my first time giving my wife an injection, and I was very nervous. He is highly skilled in this area, even when the injection process feels overwhelming. Do not go to this clinic!
I signed a $6,750 egg-freezing contract that covered the entire process from beginning to end, excluding medication and anesthesia. I started the first medication protocol, but it did not work as the doctor expected, so he said he would change the protocol, add a medication, and begin an alternative plan. They then contacted me and said I had to pay another $2,250 to continue. I was not canceling the contract; I wanted to continue the process we had already started. The contract said nothing about extra charges and stated that the entire egg-freezing process cost $6,750. They refused to refund me or continue treatment unless I paid another $2,300. I am furious and disgusted with this clinic. They are greedy and deeply unethical!

Although my IVF treatment ultimately failed because of circumstances beyond anyone's control, I am extremely grateful that this team supported me throughout. The clinic staff are truly outstanding: kind, compassionate, supportive, and consistently professional. They made an unexpected and heartbreaking experience more bearable.
I also greatly appreciated their respect for patients' time and their emphasis on communication. I highly recommend Dr. Ziegler, Dr. Martinez, and the entire staff for their attentive and compassionate care.

Dr. Martinez has performed several procedures for me, and I really like him. Every appointment is quick and efficient. I am now pregnant and very grateful to the team. However, be aware that they collect a copay every time they perform an ultrasound, but I later discovered from my medical billing statements that I owed little to nothing for almost every visit. Fortunately, all the charges were eventually credited toward my treatment costs for the next cycle.

I fell through the cracks. No one cared. My results had been available for a month before I contacted them. They told me the doctor would call the following week, but the call never came. I had to contact them again. I had been attending appointments. Months have passed. I am not saying they are responsible for my health, but there was no warmth, follow-up, or concern. I was just a number. Then I received the bill.

I saw this doctor several years ago. He insisted that my infertility was caused by my weight. He said I could "easily lose 50 pounds" and that his clinic was holding a "Biggest Loser" challenge, suggesting I treat weight loss like a fun game. He also dismissed the fact that thin people in my family, including my mother, had fertility problems. He completely disregarded my feelings and left me traumatized. I did lose weight, but it turned out to have nothing to do with my infertility. I also had a chromosomal abnormality—a balanced translocation that a simple blood test could have detected—but he never tested for it. It was ignorant and shameful of him to humiliate someone over their body before conducting any of the necessary tests. By the way, I later saw an excellent fertility specialist, and I now have a wonderful child and am pregnant with my second!

The clinic environment is pleasant, and Dr. Martinez is good. However, if you are a woman over 40, be sure to choose a clinic that understands the differences between women in their 30s and 40s. When I asked questions, the staff became defensive and would not address my specific concerns. It took two months to obtain the embryology department's report on embryo development.
After the first transfer failed, I asked what would be different for the second transfer. They said the process would be exactly the same. I then transferred to another clinic in New York. Getting my records transferred was a nightmare for the medical records department.
Be sure to advocate for yourself. Ask about ERA testing, which identifies the optimal time when the uterus is most receptive. Although no doctor believes in this test, it exists for a reason.
I am now pregnant through my clinic in New York and am thrilled.
I wish my experience at this clinic had been better. I only want to help women over 40 who dream of becoming pregnant.
