Dr. John Kuo completed 19 years of extensive education. He earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with academic honors from Columbia University, an Ivy League institution, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). Dr. Kuo continued his medical training with an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) at UCLA. He then joined the UCLA faculty, specializing in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Kuo is committed to providing high-quality, personalized medical care. Since January 2011, he has served as UCLA's director of oncofertility, a field dedicated to preserving the reproductive potential of cancer patients. His teaching at UCLA includes obstetrics and gynecology grand rounds, graduate courses, physician and resident training, medical student education, and community medical presentations.
Dr. John Kuo also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in neuroscience from UCLA. He has extensive knowledge and research experience in the brain and its functions, as the brain regulates oocyte (egg) maturation, triggers ovulation, and controls the menstrual cycle. His current neuroendocrinology research examines the hormonal mechanisms regulating ovulation, the effects of estrogen on brain function, and estrogen receptor signaling. He has received funding through the Women's Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) program and the Reproductive Scientist Development Program (RSDP), prestigious physician-scientist research programs of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

When we finally decided to pursue IVF, we conducted extensive research and read countless patient reviews. Dr. Kuo's excellent ratings and reputation gave us the confidence to contact him, even though every appointment required an hour's drive from home. We waited three months for our first consultation, but did not mind because we knew we would be in excellent hands. Along with his exceptional credentials and dedication, Dr. Kuo's compassionate and focused approach assured us that we had made the right choice.
From the first consultation, Dr. Kuo explained the entire IVF process in detail and answered all our questions warmly and patiently. His level of professionalism and commitment is exactly what you hope for from a doctor. He works 7 days a week and personally performs every ultrasound, monitoring visit, retrieval, and transfer. His meticulous attention to detail and high standards were evident at every step.
Dr. Kuo was committed to tailoring the IVF process to our specific needs, including ensuring that my cycle matched the ERA results, which played an important role in our success. Thanks to his expertise and judgment, we were thrilled to become pregnant with twins on our first attempt. None of this would have happened without this team, and we will always be grateful to Dr. Kuo and his staff.
We also cannot praise Blue enough. She was our incredible IVF patient coordinator and managed the entire process seamlessly. She is Dr. Kuo's right hand and made every step feel easy and natural. Speaking with her was like speaking with a friend; she always knew what to say and how to help. Blue held our hands throughout the journey and addressed every question and concern.
Another outstanding team member, Martin, kindly and patiently taught us the injection process and put us at ease.
The other staff created a welcoming, friendly, and comfortable environment that enhanced our overall experience. Dr. Kuo's clinic felt like a second home, and we felt truly valued as VIP patients. We received personal phone numbers for Dr. Kuo, Blue, and Martin, and their responses were always prompt and reassuring.
Even after I graduated from Dr. Kuo's clinic, he continued helping me adjust my TSH. I have my TSH checked every two weeks to determine whether my medication needs adjustment. Once it reaches a reassuring level, I will feel fully comfortable having my OB-GYN handle the rest. This ongoing support demonstrates their continued dedication to our care and well-being.

When we first began the IVF process, we consulted several IVF doctors across the country to learn how the process worked, what protocols they recommended, and what level of care we could expect. Most clinics we interviewed cared more about the number of patients they treated than the quality of care they provided. This is where Dr. Kuo and his IVF Fertility Center in Encino, California, stood out. The first consultation cost more than any other, but rest assured that after that consultation, we knew we had found our doctor. He was meticulous and thorough, took every question and concern seriously without hesitation, and demonstrated his many years of experience and expertise.
We waited less than two months from the consultation to begin our first IVF cycle. Before starting, he performed many tests to rule out anything that might cause an unsuccessful cycle and recommended vitamins and practices that many other clinics seem to overlook. This was far more comprehensive than any other IVF clinic we interviewed in the United States and assured us that we would not waste time and money on an unsuccessful protocol. His protocol follows your cycle instead of forcing your cycle to fit his schedule. If he does not believe a treatment will succeed, he will not recommend it simply to make money. He performs transfers 7 days a week. He is the clinic's only doctor, so at every visit you work one-on-one with him and your assigned coordinator—we had the best coordinator, Blue! He performs every ultrasound, retrieval, and transfer, so he knows everything about you and how your cycle is progressing. A typical visit during a cycle is as follows: you enter the doctor's office 5 minutes before the appointment. At the scheduled time, never late, they take you for bloodwork, which occurs every two days, and then to the examination room with Dr. Kuo—Dr. Kuo every time—and your coordinator, Blue in our case. Immediately after the ultrasound, you go to Dr. Kuo's office to discuss the results and adjust medications. He also answers every question you have at each visit. You never feel rushed; this is your time. Later that afternoon, Dr. Kuo personally texts you after reviewing that day's bloodwork and provides further medication adjustments. This is by far the best service you could ask for! The coordinator is always available by text, email, and phone. There is no frustrating portal or nurse relaying messages to people unfamiliar with your cycle and situation.
After two successful IVF cycles, we had far more embryos in storage than expected, especially considering our conditions and what other clinics had told us to expect. Our first transfer succeeded, and we will welcome our first child in a few months. Dr. Kuo and his team receive our strongest recommendation for IVF care.

Before consulting Dr. Kuo, my husband and I consulted several IVF doctors, and we immediately decided he was the right choice for us. His consultation was thorough, and he answered all our questions. We completed 2 IVF cycles with him and obtained multiple high-grade embryos for storage each time. Everything was handled promptly throughout both cycles. Blue was our assigned coordinator and ensured that I received complete care. Whether it involved paperwork, calling in prescriptions, responding to texts at any time, or providing work notes or emails, she handled everything. She was kind and compassionate, like an older sister who held my hand throughout. She even sent medication reminders so I would not forget anything. Because we were traveling from out of town, she arranged appointments around our flights without even being asked. I often told her she was the best, and I meant it.
The clinic is extremely punctual and never keeps you waiting more than 3 minutes past the scheduled appointment time. It is also very clean and well equipped. We saw Dr. Kuo for every ultrasound, which he personally performed, and every question was answered the same day. This differs from other clinics where you wait for a portal message or can speak with the doctor only through a nurse who does not personally know your case.
I had no pain at all after retrieval, which I believe was due to Dr. Kuo's expertise and technique. His experience is unmatched. He has high standards, is meticulous and dedicated, and works 7 days a week. His medication and transfer protocols are tailored to each patient rather than using the same protocol for everyone, as other clinics do. My first transfer succeeded, and as I write this while pregnant, I can only wish that Dr. Kuo could also deliver the baby. We traveled across the country from North Carolina to California for the retrieval and transfer, and it was one of the best decisions we made. Do not hesitate before scheduling a consultation.

I am so glad I began my long journey with Dr. Kuo and Nurse Blue! I cannot imagine life without my two beautiful babies. In short, I completed only two embryo transfers and delivered two healthy babies. I believe Dr. Kuo achieved a high success rate for me because I followed instructions and he paid exceptional attention to detail. I also work in healthcare. Dr. Kuo is very confident and a leader in his specialty. Nurse Blue is amazing! She remembered every small detail about my labs, medications, and more, saving Dr. Kuo considerable time when adjusting my plan. I remember having a true emergency one night during my second pregnancy. I was terrified, and Dr. Kuo responded immediately and saved my baby. I trust him more than any other doctor. The drawback of IVF treatment is the price, but we are all in the same boat. Dr. Kuo's office was transparent about pricing, and in retrospect, it was absolutely worthwhile. My children are priceless! I am also glad I did not have to undergo additional cycles. IVF is difficult; be hopeful about your outcome, and if you choose this path, stay with it.

Dr. Kuo and his team are more skilled and dedicated than I could have imagined. From the initial consultation, I knew choosing his clinic was the right decision.
During the consultation, he explained everything thoroughly in clear language and patiently answered all our questions. His extensive knowledge was evident, and I appreciated that his clinic uses more specialized treatment protocols than other clinics in many respects.
After the consultation, you are assigned a care coordinator and added to a group chat. Receiving nearly immediate answers to any question or concern was wonderful and made me feel highly supported during a vulnerable time. My care coordinator, Clarissa, was amazing! She encouraged me to video call her before injections if needed, and she was always pleasant to talk to and work with. My experience would have been very different without her.
At appointments, I rarely waited more than a few minutes, and every staff member was helpful and friendly. Going to the clinic almost every day was pleasant because everyone was considerate and caring; they felt like family. Throughout the process, Dr. Kuo remained attentive to my health and provided comprehensive, timely updates.
Dr. Kuo has devoted his life to helping women overcome fertility problems, and I feel fortunate to have found him.

We found Dr. Kuo's team during our IVF search and could hardly believe they had 5/5 reviews on every platform we checked. After reading them, we were excited to begin our fertility journey at IVF Fertility Center. From our first phone call with our coordinator, Blue, we were impressed by how organized and efficient the office was and by her ability to answer so many questions. I appreciated that Dr. Kuo reviewed all my previous medical records before our first consultation. He patiently explained every option and answered all our questions at every visit. They truly are a top-tier team. Dr. Kuo and Blue added us to a group chat where we could ask questions and receive real-time updates, and they truly were available 24/7. I felt very safe and supported following their advice. Blue also went out of her way to save us money and submit claims to our insurance even though the clinic was out of network and had no obligation to do so.
Dr. Kuo's clinic is spotless and welcoming and, most importantly, the most efficient clinic I have ever visited, while still making you feel like their only patient that day. We were always happy to see them because they welcomed us like family and made us feel that they were a supportive family rooting for our success. The drive was long, but every visit was worthwhile. We became pregnant just as we were about to formally start a cycle, and we felt it was a miracle brought by Dr. Kuo and his energy! We loved his team so much that we were almost disappointed that we could not go through the full journey with them when we learned the good news. They kindly monitored the pregnancy until about 12 weeks, giving us time to transition to a local obstetrician. In early pregnancy, we had 3 ultrasounds with Dr. Kuo. He closely monitored my bloodwork and adjusted medication to help us safely through the most uncertain stage. Words cannot express our gratitude to the team during the first trimester.
IVF Fertility Center would not be as successful without Dr. Kuo's equally outstanding team. Everyone is attentive and meticulous. I am very detail-oriented and frustrated by careless errors in healthcare, so the many reviews highlighting the clinic's attention to detail were a primary reason we contacted them. We mainly worked with Blue as our clinic coordinator. She was like an exceptionally kind older sister whom I could ask anything. When we used LH strips to track ovulation, she reviewed our daily photos and helped identify the most likely ovulation date. She handled many details, including reminding me when to start or stop medications, sending medication and lab orders to different places at our request, and helping us submit complicated insurance forms. She was central to our wonderful experience because she managed so much for Dr. Kuo, allowing him to focus on medical care.
This is a 10/5 team, and it is unlikely that any future healthcare experience will surpass our experience at IVF Fertility Center. They truly are the best!

I cannot express enough gratitude for Dr. Kuo and his incredible team. If you are looking for a fertility doctor who is truly invested in your journey, look no further.
My fertility journey began in 2021, and like many, it was filled with highs and lows. I was initially told everything looked fine, only to later hear from another doctor that I would never get pregnant naturally. When I decided to pursue IVF, I started with a well-known doctor who, unfortunately, was overwhelmed with too many patients and couldn’t give my case the attention it needed. My egg count was declining rapidly, yet I was encouraged to proceed with a round despite the low numbers. When all of our embryos came back with genetic defects, we were devastated and also learned that we might have underlying genetic issues to consider. This doctor initially told me I could proceed with implantation, only to retract that statement days later.
Feeling lost, I was unsure if I should continue with another round—until my mom found Dr. Kuo. She discovered glowing reviews from patients who had similar challenges, including low egg counts and genetic concerns, yet had success with him. From the very first consultation, I knew he was different. Dr. Kuo is incredibly methodical, patient, and genuinely cares about every single person he works with. He limits the number of patients he takes on so that he can be fully present for each of them. Once you are under his care, he creates a group chat where you can reach him and his nurses 24/7—something that made an immeasurable difference during such a stressful process.
Dr. Kuo also understands the financial burden of IVF and will never push you into a cycle unless he truly believes it’s the right decision. He takes his time, but that patience is what makes him exceptional. After three rounds of IVF, he was able to get us pregnant with our ONE embryo.

Without a doubt, this will be the most important five-star review I ever write. I never thought I would publicly share my IVF journey because it was the most challenging, personal, and private experience of my life, and I wanted to keep it confidential. But I have to set aside my pride to write this review because Dr. Guo deserves all the praise in the world.
A little about me: I underwent multiple laparoscopies and hysteroscopies and had been trying to conceive since 2013, using Chinese and Western herbal medicine, acupuncture, and other methods to prepare my body. One doctor even told me I could not have children, and he ultimately gave up on me. I began IVF in 2019. I went to some of the highest-rated IVF centers and completed many cycles, but the results were poor because they focused more on profits and treated me like a number. They sugarcoated everything and sounded robotic, ultimately giving me false hope before delivering devastating news. After countless failed IVF cycles and transfers, I also developed depression. I spent hours online searching for the best IVF doctor in California, hoping to find some hope even though I felt I had very little life left in me. (I even considered going abroad if it came to that.) I paid for consultations with several more doctors, hoping someone would stop sugarcoating the truth, but they all said the same things, and I was misled through seven cycles. Then came Dr. Guo...
Dr. Guo changed my life. He is not only a masterful physician, but also an exceptional and compassionate person. He puts his whole heart into everything and pursues perfection to achieve the best result, even when it requires more effort, time, and energy. From the beginning, Dr. Guo treated me as a real patient, not a source of income. He is the most meticulous, detail-oriented doctor, working seven days a week; one of my egg retrievals took place on Super Bowl Sunday. He is the most direct, honest, and professional doctor I have ever met.
As if finding the perfect IVF doctor were not enough, my patient coordinator Blue is an incomparable gem. Across all my IVF treatments, including at other clinics, she is the best coordinator I have encountered.
I am extremely discerning and have high standards, and Dr. Guo and Blue have set the bar so high that I do not believe anywhere else can compare. My only regret is not finding them sooner. I wasted enormous amounts of time and money on treatment elsewhere, where no one truly cared about me as a person. Dr. Guo has a higher success rate than any clinic in the world. Why? Because he goes the extra mile and does the additional work other clinics are unwilling to do to maximize success. Dr. Guo thinks outside the box, and all his methods are proven in practice. I believe everything Dr. Guo says and am 100% convinced that he is the best doctor; I have never felt this way about any other professional. He never cuts corners and gives his all. I feel that he gives you 100% at every visit. I have never seen another professional work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year—he replies to almost every text without hesitation—and I cannot comprehend how he does it. But I believe his wholehearted dedication and passion for helping others are admirable and do not go unnoticed. I am incredibly fortunate to have met Dr. Guo and Blue, and choosing this clinic was the best decision of my life.
I do not know what else to say. If you have read this far, do not hesitate. Dr. Guo is the real deal... He is a leader in IVF, the holy grail, a true superman, and a Hall of Famer!!!

I’m truly grateful for this doctor and the entire team!!
When I was searching online for a fertility doctor, I noticed that Dr. Kuo had five stars. The reviews were so overwhelmingly positive that I honestly wondered if they were too good to be true but he is not just a five-star doctor, he is beyond that!! I’m truly grateful that I chose this clinic. I don’t think there’s a better team anywhere!
Dr. Kuo is by far the best doctor I have ever met. I honestly wonder when he ever rests, because he always replies so quickly and takes the time to listen. He values my opinions, is incredibly kind, and even though he must be extremely busy, he has never once made me feel rushed. He always gives me the time and attention I need. After hearing experiences from my friends going through IVF at other clinics, I’m reminded again and again how lucky I am to have Dr. Kuo.
My nurse, Eliana, is also wonderful, gentle, patient, and always thorough when explaining things. She remembers the little details about me, which makes the experience feel so personal and comforting.
All the other staff members are equally friendly and attentive. Every interaction has been positive; not a single person has ever made me feel uncomfortable.
The clinic itself is spotless, and I never have to wait, whether it’s for my appointment or for payment. Everything is organized, efficient, and smooth from start to finish.
The cost truly reflects the level of excellence you receive here. With the high success rates, the exceptional care, and Dr. Kuo’s expertise, this clinic offers incredible value.
With such an amazing doctor and team, I’ve been able to go through this IVF journey without unnecessary stress. I truly couldn’t ask for a better clinic.

I am sincerely grateful to Dr. Kuo and his assistant, Clarissa. Several years ago, I went to another IVF clinic where the doctors were not supportive at all—they could not even remember me between visits, so I had to explain my symptoms from the beginning every time. Because of that experience, I was especially careful when choosing a new IVF clinic.
A friend recommended Dr. Kuo, and I feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful doctor. Knowing that I can text him directly whenever I have a problem gives me great peace of mind. Clarissa was also very kind and supportive, helping me complete my IVF treatment without added worry.
Thanks to both of them, I became pregnant after just one embryo transfer and completed treatment successfully. When we are ready for a second baby, I will definitely return to Dr. Kuo.

I cannot say enough good things about this IVF clinic! From start to finish, the care I received was first-rate. The entire team was professional, thoughtful, and always available to help. Dr. Kuo was exceptional—knowledgeable, candid, and genuinely invested in my treatment outcome.
They always made me feel like a VIP. Everything was well organized, communication was prompt and efficient, and they made every effort to ensure I understood each step. I was amazed by how quickly they provided updates and how smoothly the entire process went. You never feel like just another patient here; they take excellent, attentive care of you.
Before coming here, I had planned to visit another well-reviewed local clinic, but I quickly found it disorganized. Responses were unbearably slow, and it felt as though they did not care. I am 38 with unexplained infertility and male-factor infertility. I initially went to a clinic in Portland, Oregon, where the experience was very routine: one egg retrieval using a standard protocol resulted in 13 mature eggs, 2 blastocysts, and no PGT-A-normal embryos. The clinic did not recommend any additional testing or protocol changes for a second cycle.
I then began looking for an out-of-state doctor and was referred to Dr. Kuo. I am not writing this review because I am now pregnant. Even if I were not pregnant, I would praise the attentive care I received just as highly.
Dr. Kuo is the most thorough and detail-oriented doctor I have ever met. He never goes through the motions or rushes decisions just to keep things moving. Before my second egg retrieval, he ordered additional testing for my husband that our previous clinic had never mentioned. We discovered very high sperm DNA fragmentation, so we treated it with clomiphene for three months before proceeding.
During my retrieval cycle, I was monitored very closely, and my protocol was adjusted in real time based on my response. The difference in outcomes was remarkable. We went from 2 blastocysts and 0 normal embryos to 21 mature eggs, 9 blastocysts, and 3 PGT-A-normal embryos. Before transfer, he also found a uterine polyp that the previous clinic had missed, and I had it removed.
My first transfer cycle was canceled because of bleeding and an unfavorable uterine environment. I believe many clinics would have proceeded anyway, but Dr. Kuo did not. We adjusted the plan, waited patiently, and ultimately completed the transfer successfully.
The second transfer was very successful. At 8 weeks pregnant, I had a severe bleeding episode, and Dr. Kuo was exceptional in managing it. Over the next several days, he communicated with me directly every few hours, gave clear instructions, and monitored the situation in real time. I never felt alone.

The clinic's efficiency especially impressed me. I was seen at my scheduled time, and every ultrasound visit flowed seamlessly from changing to the examination, without long waits on the table. My registered nurse friend had two successful IVF experiences with Dr. Guo and highly recommended him. I work in healthcare and know how challenging it can be to find a good doctor. After my first consultation, I regretted not seeing Dr. Guo sooner. This was not my first IVF consultation; years ago, before my miscarriage and myomectomy, I had consulted other IVF doctors and OBs. Dr. Guo was meticulous, knowledgeable, and attentive. He specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He reviewed all my hormone levels and previous imaging, analyzed every lab value, and created a personalized health plan to stabilize my hormones.
He is everything you could want in a provider. He is attentive, takes time to listen and answer questions, and sets expectations well. He provides exceptional patient care.
I also want to thank Dr. Guo's excellent coordinator, Blue. She is outstanding and responds to every email, call, and text, no matter how late. She is quick, accurate, and knows what she is doing, making the situation much less intimidating. I appreciated all the reminders and especially the encouragement during my first trimester. She is a gem in the office.

I spent nearly three years on this fertility journey and met Dr. Guo after a failed IVF cycle with another doctor.
We were skeptical from the start because we had read many stories about the process and understood the business behind it. Unfortunately, during our first IVF cycle, we fell into that trap and were treated as just a number. We became more cautious and learned about Dr. Guo through our OB-GYN.
We are grateful that he referred us to the right person.
Attention to detail: Dr. Guo is extremely thorough in every way. Every small detail matters to him. He always strives to make everything as perfect as possible. He is a perfectionist.
Accessibility: I often see people say they cannot reach their doctor or nurse, but one of the most satisfying parts of our experience was that we could always reach Dr. Guo or the nurses, Eliana and Blue. After every test, Dr. Guo sent us a voice message explaining the results and medication dosages. Whether it was Saturday, Sunday, a holiday, daytime, or evening, Dr. Guo never failed to answer our questions.
Patience: He is very patient in every situation. We canceled many retrieval and transfer cycles because the results were not satisfactory and had to wait for the next cycle. Sometimes we became impatient, but we always trusted his instincts and decisions in each situation. We never doubted his decisions. We believed that even if it took many cycles, Dr. Guo would proceed when he felt the timing was best. He never rushed.
Honesty: Because of my other health issues, I had an unsuccessful egg retrieval with Dr. Guo, but on the day of the retrieval he clearly explained why it failed and what we could do next time to succeed. My first IVF cycle also failed, but that doctor never explained the failure or possible next steps.
His team: We always felt like a family. Not only Dr. Guo, but Eliana, Blue, Martin, and the other staff were very caring and helpful.
Cost: Dr. Guo would never have you pay for something that would not produce results. I know many people whose IVF doctors ordered all kinds of expensive tests or procedures without results. Dr. Guo never asked us to do anything that was unproven or not absolutely necessary for us.
Timing: His timing was perfect. During my retrieval and transfer, he always ensured precise timing, even avoiding the smallest delay. There was no wait even for routine visits. He managed patients so no one had to wait at the clinic.
Care: During IVF, I conceived naturally but miscarried at 8 weeks. I remember the support Dr. Guo gave us.
I can assure you that most IVF doctors would not see you if you conceived naturally during treatment, but Dr. Guo performed all the tests and guided us through every medication and treatment.

The best IVF doctor in the United States. We now have two children, when we had once prayed for just one. I sat across from other patients and said, “I did all the research; he is the best in Southern California.” They replied, “We are from South Carolina, and we also did the research. He is the best in the United States.” I believe he is the best doctor if you are serious about IVF.
