Dr. John Kuo holds two doctoral degrees (MD and PhD) from leading U.S. universities and is double board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and obstetrics and gynecology. Since 2007, he has served as a full-time assistant professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has trained and mentored many reproductive endocrinology and infertility physicians at UCLA. Dr. Kuo is nationally recognized as one of America's leading infertility physicians. Dr. John Kuo completed 19 years of extensive education. He earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with academic honors from Columbia University, an Ivy League institution, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). Dr. Kuo continued his medical training with an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) at UCLA. He then joined the UCLA faculty, specializing in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Kuo is committed to providing high-quality, personalized medical care. Since January 2011, he has served as UCLA's director of oncofertility, a field dedicated to preserving the reproductive potential of cancer patients. His teaching at UCLA includes obstetrics and gynecology grand rounds, graduate courses, physician and resident training, medical student education, and community medical presentations.
Dr. John Kuo also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in neuroscience from UCLA. He has extensive knowledge and research experience in the brain and its functions, as the brain regulates oocyte (egg) maturation, triggers ovulation, and controls the menstrual cycle. His current neuroendocrinology research examines the hormonal mechanisms regulating ovulation, the effects of estrogen on brain function, and estrogen receptor signaling. He has received funding through the Women's Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) program and the Reproductive Scientist Development Program (RSDP), prestigious physician-scientist research programs of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
