Dr. Kushnir has treated thousands of patients from around the world with a wide range of fertility concerns. His primary focus is advanced reproductive age, diminished ovarian reserve, and third-party reproduction. Dr. Kushnir works closely with urologists to treat couples with severe male infertility.


Dr. Kushnir has received numerous awards, including the New York Top Doctor Award for his achievements in clinical practice and the Emory University Research Excellence Award for his research on the role of mitochondria in female reproductive aging.


Experience


An internationally recognized fertility specialist, Dr. Kushnir has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading medical journals and numerous book chapters on reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Kushnir is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) and has admitting privileges at UCI Medical Center.


Before moving to California, Dr. Kushnir practiced in New York City. He served as director of reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and as an attending physician and surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Kushnir previously served as a clinical assistant professor of obstetrics at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was also a consultant to the Division of Reproductive Health at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Kushnir is double board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

West Coast Fertility Center was not the first clinic we visited during our IVF journey. After repeated failures elsewhere, a trusted family friend referred us to Dr. Kushnir. However, I believe WCFC would be an excellent first choice for any couple seeking fertility assistance. The coordinator who explained our options, payments, and medications was the most thorough and helpful person I have encountered in that role. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. I do not yet know what the outcome will be for us, but for the first time I am hopeful that West Coast Fertility Center may show us a light at the end of the tunnel.

I highly recommend this center! After visiting a different center and having a terrible first experience, I was exhausted. A doctor suggested that we go to West Coast. Honestly, the initial price made me even more skeptical. It was quoted at half the price of the first center. As soon as we had our first consultation with Dr. Kushnir, I knew this was the right center for us. He explained everything very thoroughly. His staff were friendly and helpful when discussing the calendar and finances. Finances are a major concern in fertility treatment. Compared with other places, West Coast's pricing is very transparent and accessible. I truly cannot recommend this center highly enough, from start to finish!

I was fortunate to find Dr. Kushnir, who helped me achieve my dream of becoming a mother. He is a very professional doctor and managed the medication dosage perfectly. Every staff member at the clinic was welcoming. I am Chinese and speak very little English. Ariel, who first assisted me, patiently explained every medication in detail. He even used his personal time to video-call me during my first injection and helped me complete it. He did not hang up until he saw that I had finished the injection. Later, because they were busy, Beth and Annie assisted me. They also answered my questions and comforted me whenever I needed help. I highly recommend seeking Dr. Kushnir's help here. He truly can make your dream of becoming a mother come true. I have recommended him to all my close friends, and they have begun receiving care here. I have nothing but positive things to say about WCFC. My husband and I first went there in 2022. Although it was a difficult process, I never felt unsafe with the care I received. Dr. Kushnir was very professional and clear when explaining the details of procedures. He always asked whether we had any questions or concerns. He remained in close communication with the staff, because no matter whom I spoke with, they knew what was happening with my case. Beth, Cindy, Linda, and nearly everyone you encounter, even briefly, are very kind and professional. My first transfer failed, but my second transfer in 2023 gave me my sweet, wild little boy. I recently returned to try again with my remaining embryos and have just received a confirmed positive pregnancy blood test. I highly recommend WCFC because they care about their work and do it well and professionally.

Starting fertility treatment is nerve-racking for anyone, considering both the process and the financial aspects. However, West Coast Fertility Center has done everything possible to answer every question/concern we encountered along the way. They offer after-hours appointments and treatment at reasonable costs. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. Beth, Linda, and Cindy are wonderful! I would recommend this clinic to anyone who wants to grow their family. They take every concern seriously and do their best to provide excellent service to all patients.

Although our chance of success was low, given that I was 39, we chose unmedicated IUI and succeeded on the second attempt! My friend underwent IVF at West Coast Fertility Center and became pregnant successfully. She highly recommended West Coast Fertility Center, so I went there in February, had an egg retrieval in April, and a transfer in June after ovarian stimulation. Today, 14 days after the transfer, a blood test confirmed that I am pregnant. I highly recommend Dr. Vitaly Kushnir. He is very professional and personally performed my transfer. The entire procedure was painless, and I felt very well. Thank you to my Chinese nurse, Miss Annie, for helping me throughout the IVF process and putting me at ease. The clinic's other nurses were also very helpful, and the experience felt excellent.

Everyone here is very welcoming, and they answer every time I call. If I leave a message after hours, they return my call within 10 minutes. All process and medication instructions are very clear. I highly recommend this clinic!! The final outcome is still to be determined, but everything looks good so far! The clinic also has plenty of parking.

We really like West Coast Fertility Center. We chose this clinic after a terrible experience at another fertility clinic, where communication was poor and staff were often rude. The difference has been remarkable. West Coast Fertility Center is clean, organized, and excellent at communication. Beth and Linda are a blessing—they are both attentive, kind, and helpful. The entire staff is compassionate and genuinely cares about you and your fertility journey. It has been truly refreshing. So far, we have completed two IVF cycles with them without success. However, we miraculously conceived on our own, and they are helping us support the pregnancy into the second trimester through weekly monitoring and blood tests.

Hello, I just want to share my experience at West Coast Fertility Center. I began treatment with them in 2023, and it is now 2025, but I still have not become pregnant. The issue is poor embryo quality, possibly because of my husband or possibly me; we do not know. Honestly, the doctor has not investigated the issue further, other than perhaps performing some tests on my husband. I appreciate nurse Cindy's care. She is always there for me, and she is the reason I have found it hard to leave the clinic, but I must keep pursuing my dream of becoming a mother. I have always had little money, still have no child, and find this frustrating and painful, but I will continue trying to become a mother. I completed two stimulation cycles and four transfers, but all failed. 😔

Perhaps it was simply an off day, but the high ratings are difficult to reconcile with our experience. We scheduled a consultation through the West Coast Fertility website, which directed us to book through ZocDoc. We received confirmation in the app for a 2 p.m. appointment. At check-in, the front desk said there was no record of it. I showed the confirmation, and they said someone should have called to confirm, but we received no call or voicemail. To their credit, they kindly fit us in, but we ultimately waited more than an hour past the scheduled time. Dr. Kushnir was approachable and listened to our concerns. However, even after sharing relevant test results, we left the consultation somewhat confused. He recommended that we contact Igenomix for further testing (PGT-SR), but we later learned the clinic should have initiated the test directly. After the consultation, we discussed pricing and treatment details with Maria. Unfortunately, this part felt rushed and impersonal. Some comments may have been well intended, but came across as insensitive during an already emotional process. Although we appreciate the team's efforts to accommodate us on short notice, the overall experience felt disorganized and poorly communicated. For people already navigating a complex and emotional journey, better coordination and compassion would make a meaningful difference.

Dr. Kashmir told us he had handled similar cases and was confident in his laboratory's results. Update** My partner and I had been trying to conceive for five years. Many doctors told me that not having periods was normal or that I might already be menopausal, although I had no menopausal symptoms and was only in my early thirties. A friend recommended West Coast Fertility Centers, so we decided to try it. After the first consultation, we knew we had chosen the right place. Everything felt comfortable. The environment was professional, friendly, and welcoming. Our coordinator Maria was very helpful and answered all our questions. She gave us hope and greater confidence to try. Dr. Kushnir helped us identify the right IVF protocol, and we are very glad we made this decision! *****Unfortunately, our first frozen embryo transfer failed. We waited for a while, completed a second transfer, and are now pregnant. It has not been easy, but that is all part of the process. Thank you so much to all the staff! Everyone was professional and friendly. I knew I could call with any question, and if they could not answer immediately, they would call back. We are very grateful to this clinic.

I would recommend this clinic to friends, with a few points to keep in mind. The staff are warm, thoughtful, and genuine, and I always felt cared for. After three failed IUIs, my first IVF transfer was successful, which I believe reflects Dr. Kushnir’s extensive experience and skill. IVF scheduling can sometimes involve an additional wait of 2-3 months, depending on the doctor’s availability, so it is helpful to ask about the expected timeline in advance. Timing is critical in fertility treatment, so this mattered greatly to me. It is also important to follow up proactively on prescriptions, the treatment process, and billing, as appropriate follow-up can help everything proceed more smoothly. Despite a few minor issues, I remain sincerely grateful for the attentive care I received and the outcome, and I am glad I chose this clinic.

I had a very poor experience here. Although the consultation with the doctor himself was pleasant, problems with my coordinator, Lupe, and the manager, Michelle, began immediately afterward. Within just a day and a half, I had serious concerns about their efficiency, ability to handle urgent issues, and professional competence. Worse, Michelle was rude and emotional on the phone when I was only trying to obtain information. Ultimately, despite multiple calls and emails seeking help, I never received the information I needed. That evening, I contacted the doctor, explained my concerns, and asked whether he could clarify the situation or whether another coordinator could take over. I did not even mention my interaction with Michelle. The doctor replied that he believed their communication had been appropriate, so he would not continue treating me. I therefore wasted time and money consulting with a medical team I will not be working with. In the end, I am glad this happened so early, because I cannot imagine the nightmare it would have become if I had continued with them. I genuinely do not recommend this clinic. They were pleasant when scheduling the consultation, and the doctor did engage seriously during it, but once the consultation ends and you become their patient, you may feel tremendous stress without receiving answers, and the doctor may terminate your care because of it. I suggest researching further and finding a clinic that will make your experience as smooth and positive as possible.

The best thing about West Coast is that they treat you like a person, not a number. Every time we entered the clinic, the same staff welcomed us by name each week. This made a highly stressful time feel more personal and supportive. From our first consultation, we worked with IVF coordinator Linda, who was truly a lifesaver. She supported us throughout and answered all our questions. We also worked with Beth, Cindy, and nurse Jeanie, if I remember her name correctly. Jeanie noticed that I was afraid to go to the emergency room and stayed with me, talking and reassuring me. I could genuinely feel how much this clinic cares about its patients. We did not have insurance, so we were very fortunate to find them, and their pricing felt manageable. One thing to know is that if you choose this clinic, you should prepare in advance. They do not perform extensive testing or bloodwork, so it is best to learn about IVF testing and procedures beforehand. It also helps to understand the treatment process and ask questions whenever needed. Communication was somewhat difficult at first, but once I began proactively sharing any suggestions, questions, or concerns, it became easier to understand everything they were doing for me. This place has been a blessing for my wife and me. The process can sound overwhelming and even frightening, but the staff are very kind and break the complex process into smaller steps that are easy to understand and manage. My daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30. Along with managing her cancer treatment, we immediately wanted to preserve her eggs for the future. Fortunately, our oncology coordinator referred us to West Coast Fertility Center, where we had the privilege of meeting Dr. Kushnir and Beth. Dr. Kushnir was always ready to communicate with the oncologist and develop the safest treatment plan for my daughter. Beth is a special member of the clinic team. She helped us understand the different processes and explained in detail how to give the injections. Beth is kindhearted, always greeted us with a smile, and encouraged us during our most difficult time. Her patience and encouragement gave me confidence to administer all the injections and treatments correctly. The clinic team makes every effort to apply for programs that provide discounted services to cancer patients. They successfully obtained reimbursement for some of our medications.

My wife, age 28 with polycystic ovary syndrome, and I, age 28 with unexplained infertility, had been trying to conceive for a year and a half before deciding to try IVF. While looking for a fertility clinic near San Diego, we found that WCFC was not only much more affordable than other clinics in our area but also consistently provided timely service. I never experienced long phone holds or excessive waits for consultations, and appointments always accommodated our schedules. What impressed me most about WCFC was the personalized care throughout the process. We felt strongly supported by the staff and appreciated that they did not treat us like numbers. We chose conventional IVF for my wife and embryo freezing for me. The doctor prescribed standard IVF medications. From the very beginning, the clinic made us feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for during what can be a very emotional and stressful process. Dr. Perkins has been incredible. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and takes the time to explain everything clearly. Throughout treatment she made us feel comfortable and confident in every step. Her calm, thoughtful approach helped ease a lot of the anxiety that can come with fertility treatments. Our nurse, Beth, has also been amazing. She is compassionate, responsive, and always willing to answer questions no matter how small. IVF involves a lot of medications, timing, and emotions, and Beth consistently made sure we felt supported and understood what was happening. Started working with Dr. Kushnir and team about 10 months ago and they have been so supportive! Transparency on billing including itemized super bills as well as a list of all accepted insurance plans will really empower patients to use their benefits. Financial staff declined to try working with my plan despite preauthorization and confirmation from my plan that Dr. Kushnir is in network. Hope the new federal and state laws covering care will become more of a reality here in the future. When asked what plans they take, the response was they cannot share the information and to check with my employer..Aside from their financial protocols and limitations, I will absolutely recommend this office and not hesitate to come back again. The medical care is phenomenal and I’m in immense gratitude for their service and team.

I previously consulted another practice but ultimately chose Dr. K at West Coast. He is highly knowledgeable and supports every opinion with data and statistics. I am glad I chose WCF because my latest embryo transfer has been successful so far! The clinic is very clean and has an in-house embryology laboratory. West Coast Fertility will refuse to work with MARRIED GAY MEN who are using the California SB729 infertility mandate. In fact, we were told that they would specifically not treat us the same as a straight couple, who they would submit written authorization requests for. They weren’t even willing to try, or get educated on the law. In fact, their insurance coordinator named Niloo M. Raised her voice and talked down to us. Kept interrupting as my husband calmly explained the law and that the request must come from them. Seems they are only compassionate for certain people. Our hopes are quickly diminishing thanks to this latest experience with them.

When I first decided to start IVF treatment, I was honestly very nervous and worried that the whole process would be extremely difficult. But my experience at this clinic truly made me feel much more at ease. We tried intrauterine insemination (IUI) several times, but none were successful. We then moved on to IVF. We also had the embryos tested. The entire process went smoothly. I appreciate that they did not discourage me because I was over 43. I was also touched that they were willing to try IUI with me before moving directly to IVF.

We began our IVF journey at West Coast Fertility Center in late April/early May. Since this was our second IVF attempt (our first was a mini-IVF cycle at another clinic), it was easy to feel overwhelmed by all the dates, medications, appointments, lab tests, results, and other details. From our first appointment, Dr. Kushnir answered our questions with great patience and care, which made us feel confident in our decision. Our coordinator, Beth, told us that once the cycle began, everything would move quickly, and she was absolutely right! From ovarian stimulation to egg retrieval and transfer, everyone was warm, helpful, and supportive throughout the process. Whether we asked questions by phone, email, or text, the team responded promptly and answered patiently. We also found the medication costs very reasonable compared with other clinics. There were no misleading sales tactics, which we greatly appreciated. We completed a standard IVF cycle with a fresh embryo transfer. Thank God, I am thrilled to share that our pregnancy test was positive and the pregnancy was confirmed! Now we are looking forward to welcoming our baby! We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Kushnir and his entire team for their help.

We are so grateful for West Coast Fertility. Our IVF daughter is now 2 months old. For reference we had a history of multiple chemical pregnancies and unsuccessful medicated cycles/IUI. We had consulted with a fertility clinic closer to us, but we ultimately decided to drive nearly 6 hours to work with West Coast Fertility. It was worth it. Dr. Perkins is sweet and responsive to questions and concerns. Dr. Kushnir did our embryo transfer, and we appreciated his candidness. He gave us his honest opinions while also being very knowledgeable about the data and statistics. This was extremely helpful when considering all of our options. Beth was our coordinator, and she is THE BEST. I valued her experience and her opinions. She gave us great advice, and it felt like it was coming from my sister. I can't speak highly enough about my experience with West Coast Fertility Centers. After consulting with several fertility centers to help conceive my second child, I chose Dr. Kushnir—and it was the best decision I could have made. His expertise in male factor infertility and advanced maternal age (I'm 43) truly stood out. On top of that, the affordability of his services (nearly half the cost of other centers) made this journey possible for me. For an experience that felt frightening and intimidating, we could not have chosen a better clinic for treatment. Dr. Kushnir, Linda, and the rest of the WCFC team were incredible throughout the process. Every question was answered, every fear was addressed, and we received all the information we needed to know we were making the right decisions. The result was amazing: after more than five years of trying, we are now expecting our first child. The clinic is also very affordable compared with many other places in the area, yet we still felt we received five-star treatment. I have not visited this location, but I went to the Fountain Valley office and believe they operate similarly. The Fountain Valley staff was extremely responsive and answered every time I called. If I left a message after hours, they called me back within 10 minutes. All procedure and medication instructions were very clear. I highly recommend this clinic!! The final result remains to be seen, but everything looks good so far!

I called both numbers for this clinic, and honestly, the front desk staff's laziness and incompetence were shocking. I asked a very basic question: Do you accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO insurance? Without properly checking, they simply said no. I then called the Orange County location and spoke with Denise, who also sounded impatient and reluctant to do her job. When I questioned the answer, she became condescending and defensive, saying that even if they accepted it, they could not be sure I was covered. Seriously, who calls a specialty clinic without knowing whether their insurance applies? Patients are not asking the staff to solve world hunger. We are simply asking them to verify insurance, which is part of their job. Dr. Kushnir, if you are wondering why prospective patients leave before scheduling, this is why. Your front desk treats patients like a nuisance. If they cannot handle a simple insurance verification without hostility and obstruction, it raises serious concerns about how chaotic billing and claims will be once treatment begins. Your clinic is not losing patients because of insurance. It is losing them because your staff makes the experience feel like dealing with a DMV employee who is about to quit.

We are deeply grateful to Anna, Tara, Michelle, and Dr. Perkins. When we began our IVF journey, we felt overwhelmed and uncertain, but meeting the team reassured us and gave us hope. We highly recommend West Coast Fertility. They were professional, responsive, and patient throughout the process. It took us about a year to decide to proceed with intrauterine insemination (IUI), and the West Coast Fertility team answered all our questions and guided us throughout that year. They allow and encourage patients to begin with the least invasive fertility treatment options. I never felt pressured or sold other treatments. Everyone was excellent, from the front desk and nursing team to the nurse practitioner and Dr. Kushnir. We came on the recommendation of a close friend who also had an excellent experience.

Proper medical records were not maintained, and the billing practices were deceptive. The records we received for another clinic included topics that my wife had never discussed with Dr. Vitaly. They also mistakenly included my information in her medical record, which is a serious error. They mishandled our insurance billing, leaving us responsible for several hundred dollars more than we had been told. They also failed to disclose several hidden charges in advance. Overall, it was a negative experience. I would avoid this clinic unless you want to be surprised by thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses and inaccurate documentation containing other people's personal information.

Last year, I had the pleasure of working with Vitaly Kushnir and his excellent team, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Everyone in the office was welcoming and put me at ease during such an emotional and difficult process. Throughout my time there, I worked closely with Beth, Cindy, and Denise. I am very grateful for their compassion and patience. They did everything possible to answer every question and never made me feel that a question was silly. I was reassured to learn that they had an after-hours number where I could text questions or concerns that arose after the office closed. Anyone who has researched fertility treatment knows it is not inexpensive. That said, Dr. Kushnir has adjusted his prices to be more reasonable than any other fertility clinic we researched. He has a kind heart and truly wants to help women realize their dream of motherhood regardless of income. My husband and I completed 3 rounds of IUI followed by 2 IVF cycles. The second IVF transfer was successful, and we are thrilled to be expecting our baby girl in a few months. I am extremely grateful for my positive experience with Dr. Kushnir at West Coast Fertility Centers and plan to return if my husband and I decide to try for a second child.
