Dr. Benton Chun, United States
Dr. Benton Chun is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with more than 25 years of experience in infertility and in vitro fertilization. His peers have consistently named him one of Hawaii's “Top Doctors,” and he has been recognized nationally as one of the “Best Doctors.” In 2001, he launched IVF HAWAII, an innovative, comprehensive infertility program. He serves as medical director and laboratory director of the center's nationally accredited (College of American Pathologists) embryology and andrology laboratories.
He earned a master's degree in biomedical sciences from Eastern Virginia Medical School, with a focus on clinical embryology and andrology. The first IVF baby in the United States was conceived there, at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, in 1981.
Dr. Chun holds national certification in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery from the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy. Recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive surgery, he has organized numerous conferences and workshops on advanced surgical techniques for his peers. He is a clinical associate professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and clinical director of the minimally invasive surgery laboratory, serving residents in training.
