What distinguishes IVF HAWAII from other IVF clinics is Dr. Chun’s dual role as medical and laboratory director. At most IVF centers, reproductive specialists oversee only the clinical aspects of patient care, while embryo management is left to laboratory staff.

Dr. Chun takes a different view of how IVF cycle management can best support pregnancy outcomes. He believes a successful IVF program depends on physician involvement throughout the entire IVF process.

Dr. Chun put this philosophy into practice by earning a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Eastern Virginia Medical School, with a focus on clinical embryology and andrology. Only a small number of reproductive specialists nationwide have completed this level of training, demonstrating Dr. Chun’s commitment to improving his IVF program.

Today, Dr. Chun participates in both the clinical and laboratory aspects of IVF treatment, providing patients with this distinctive integrated approach to improve continuity and quality of care. Working with embryologists, Dr. Chun takes an active role in the laboratory and is closely involved in handling eggs and sperm, assessing embryo quality, managing culture systems, and determining the optimal timing of embryo transfer. He oversees all daily laboratory functions, including quality control and evaluation of all techniques.
