Fangyin Meng, MD, PhD, is a skilled reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist with her own private practice in Irvine, California.

 

Dr. Meng received her MD and PhD degree as an honored student from Peking University Medical School in Beijing, China, the best medical school in China. She got her PhD degree in genetics, specifically on human embryo genetics. She completed her OB/GYN residency training at Peking University First Hospital and the Albert-Einstein College of Medicine affiliated Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center. She received the best resident award and surgical skill award when she graduated from the residency program. After her residency training, Dr. Meng completed her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship training at Albert-Einstein College of Medicine.

 

Dr. Meng has broad interests in human reproductive medicine, which includes human embryo genetics, endometrial receptivity, and cryobiology. Dr. Meng started preimplantation genetic testing, egg cryopreservation, and endometrial receptivity window research in early 2000. She has authored and submitted dozens of abstracts while presenting her data at international and national meetings.

 

As a genetic expert, Dr. Meng has a passion for human genetic and epigenetic diseases, such as polycystic ovarian syndrome. Dr. Meng understands every disease has two different aspects: a genetic predisposition and environmental factors. Therefore, Dr. Meng promotes patient-centered treatment, considering all aspects of her patients, including physical, psychological, lifestyle, cultural, and emotional factors when developing effective treatment plans.

 

Recurrent implantation failure is another field Dr. Meng focuses on. She has multiple publications on endometrial receptivity research—another side of the implantation story besides good quality embryos. Through comprehensive evaluation of genetics, hormonal, immunological, and uterine factors, Dr. Meng has helped several difficult recurrent implantation failure patients succeed.

Dr. Meng leads an excellent team of compassionate experts who helped us find hope and achieve a successful pregnancy! Before finding Dr. Meng and her team, we endured IVF treatment at two different clinics. Those experiences included four failed attempts and a heartbreaking miscarriage at seven weeks. By the time we found Dr. Meng, we were emotionally and financially exhausted and felt time slipping away, especially with my wife's 42nd birthday approaching. We were first drawn to Dr. Meng by the excellent reviews we found online. After our initial consultation, it was clear that the reviews were accurate. Dr. Meng's extensive knowledge and years of experience immediately reassured us that we had finally found the right person. Through expertise, attentiveness, and undeniably a little luck, Dr. Meng's careful work ensured successful implantation. Living in San Diego, we faced the challenge of traveling to Irvine for treatment, requiring substantial time and effort. A very small clinic with only one doctor, two nurses, and one receptionist. It has no laboratory of its own and rents an outside operating room for egg retrievals and embryo transfers. Think carefully before coming. The doctor does not even understand the PGT-M process. She has too little experience and is not sufficiently professional. Do not assume that speaking Chinese makes communication easy; professional expertise matters most!

Before meeting Dr. Meng, I underwent IVF with another well-known doctor in Irvine. Although I greatly respected their experience, I began to feel that the treatment protocol was not right for me. The medication felt intense and did not seem to be adjusted much in response to my body. I felt physically unwell and hesitant to try again, so I looked for another approach. I spoke with almost every doctor I could see in Irvine, and only Dr. Meng explained the medication issues clearly and scientifically. I still remember her saying, "If you are willing to try another egg retrieval, I promise your body will not feel the way it did last time." That stayed with me. Ultimately, I did not undergo another retrieval because I was still afraid, but I decided to proceed with the two embryos I already had. Although neither was top quality, the transfer succeeded with Dr. Meng's help and support! This was what I had always hoped for. What impressed me most was Dr. Meng's genuine care. I came to this clinic for endometriosis treatment after specifically calling to confirm that they treated the condition, as advertised on their website. Their staff confirmed that they did. Instead, I spent hundreds of dollars on a brief consultation, only to be told afterward that they do not actually treat endometriosis but could freeze my eggs, which was a completely different service I had not requested. During the consultation, they performed an ultrasound and concluded that I did not have endometriosis at all. I was extremely disappointed that this supposed "specialist" said nothing was wrong. I later saw another doctor and learned that I did, in fact, have widespread stage IV endometriosis! If they do not truly specialize in treating endometriosis, they should not list it as a treatment on their website.

One nurse did not know how to draw blood and tried several times without success, then blamed the patient's sitting position. The other nurse was simply rude and would raise her voice and yell if she did not like what the patient said.

At thirty-seven, I began a long and uncertain IVF journey. I went to leading fertility centers in the Bay Area, San Diego, and Los Angeles, undergoing multiple cycles, countless injections, and repeated failed embryo transfers filled with hope and heartbreak. Eventually, I stopped believing I could become a mother. Then I entered Dr. Meng's office in Irvine. A friend had called her a "100% goddess," and I understood why. Dr. Meng brought more than knowledge: she had strategy, intuition, and rare grace under pressure. My ovarian reserve was low, but she was undaunted. She carefully reviewed my AMH, AFC, E2, and FSH and designed a dual-stimulation protocol with blastocyst culture and PGT-A. She did not offer false hope, but calm, focus, and steady confidence. That alone restored my belief in motherhood. She listened wholeheartedly. When I arrived with anxious questions and online "tips," she answered with science and kindness, cutting through the noise. Dr. Meng responded immediately. She reviewed the data line by line, called us, and gently said, "You can breathe now." That was not medicine; it was protection. Dr. Meng has now built a talented team of women. They are strong, perceptive, and kind. Together, they are extraordinary. We now have two lovely children. Dr. Meng is the best 👍 and very friendly. During seven years of marriage, we tried unsuccessfully to have a baby. A year ago, we saw Dr. Meng's lecture and contacted her. We asked many questions, and she patiently answered each one, giving us an accurate understanding of IVF and genetic testing. Because of the pandemic, we decided to use the break to prepare for transfer. Dr. Meng recommended preconception preparation, sent a diet and exercise plan tailored to me, and asked me to lose 20 pounds before scheduling another visit. Yesterday I tested positive for pregnancy 🤰 It is a miracle! I succeeded simply by losing weight.

A very small clinic with only one doctor, two nurses, and one receptionist. It has no blastocyst culture laboratory, and outside operating rooms must be rented for egg retrievals and transfers. Think carefully before coming. The doctor does not even understand the PGTM process and lacks experience and professionalism. It was renamed from California dream fertility center to fangyin meng MD! Reviews can be manipulated! Think twice before coming!
