Dr. Desai is a recognized expert in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for urologic cancers. He completed post-residency fellowship training at Mayo Clinic Arizona, specializing in prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers. During his time at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Desai became an assistant professor of urology.

Dr. Desai was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. He completed his college preparatory education at the prestigious Harvard-Westlake School and was admitted to a highly selective accelerated medical degree program after graduation. He completed dual degrees with honors at Union College in New York and Albany Medical College, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Desai then returned to Southern California for general surgery and urology training at Loma Linda University before completing an advanced fellowship at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Desai is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology and an active member of the American Urological Association and Los Angeles Urological Society. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Urology, Urology, Transplantation, and British Journal of Urology. He has presented his research nationally and internationally, consistently earning recognition from his peers.

Dr. Desai serves as clinical director of urology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and president of the Los Angeles Urological Society.

The surgery, including anesthesia, went very smoothly, with no postoperative pain or adverse reactions. Importantly, I could communicate with Dr. Josephson by text after surgery. My recovery was better than expected, and less than three weeks after surgery I was able to mountain bike and ski. I am very glad I chose Dr. Josephson and Cedars Sinai for this RP procedure.

Dr. Bui is a rock star among prostate surgeons and is at the top of his field. When I was diagnosed at age 71 with Gleason 8, my wife and I interviewed several surgeons and chose Dr. Bui, even though he was out of network, because he had performed so many of these procedures with an extremely high success rate. Dr. Bui provided an exceptional level of care and communication. He spared my nerves, prevented erectile problems, and treated my extremely enlarged prostate. Recovery was relatively easy. Eight months later, my PSA is undetectable, I have no sexual problems, and the occasional minor incontinence has now resolved. I am extremely pleased with the treatment and care Dr. Bui provided and highly recommend him.

Scheduling was difficult, and the staff were rude. The doctor left for more than 20 minutes during a painful procedure to see another patient. He returned with a fake smile and denied the reason for the long delay. He was insincere and cold. I refused to schedule any other appointments. This is a very unpleasant place.

The experience was incredible from beginning to end. The front desk staff was efficient and friendly, making scheduling and check-in smooth and stress-free and setting a positive tone for the visit. The clinical staff was helpful and attentive and always ready to answer my questions. Most importantly, Dr. Houman was wonderful. I was treated by Dr. Bui at Tower Urology in Beverly Hills for aggressive prostate cancer. Many physicians at Cedars Sinai consider him a master of prostatectomy. He is very conservative and clearly knowledgeable, and I am extremely grateful that he saved my life. The team at Tower Urology is excellent, and I have never had any problems in the past six years.

Dr. Leach is the best! Bar none. I drive from South Orange County to see him and would consider no other. He did surgery on me 8 years ago, and gave me back a normal life. Competent and positive. Always upbeat. My wife loves him, too.

The care of the patient is wonderful, mama hadn’t been in for almost 2 years but Dr was very pleasant and treated her nicely, the office staff however, there’s a matter of professionalism that lacks. Not all of course but unfortunately as the old saying goes “righteous suffer for the sins of the wicked” and as they all work together! Bad habits, actions and attitudes are easily followed. Coincidentally, we’re not there to make friends we’re just there so mama can be taken care of and she was.

Tower Urology is a first-rate practice, from the check-in staff, financial counselors, surgical schedulers, and physician assistants to Dr. Houman. Although affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, they clearly maintain a high degree of independence. Choosing to have my penile implant surgery here was an excellent decision!

The staff and technicians are friendly and professional, always smiling and approachable. The entire process runs smoothly and efficiently. Soon after you arrive, you are checked in, a kind nurse draws your blood, and a technician quickly comes to perform an ultrasound. Shortly afterward, my doctor, Dr. Danoff, comes in to review the results with you. He is highly skilled, thorough, quick-thinking, and personable, and his assistant Joanna is equally outstanding. This is the worst front-desk staff I have ever encountered. They are disorganized, incompetent, cold, and indifferent. They do not care about patients, their time, or their medical conditions. They treat patients like numbers and only care about collecting fees. I will never return.

I feel very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Desai. I had been in pain for several months, and several specialists could not provide answers. Most doctors simply told me to “manage the pain, and eventually I would get used to it.” Dr. Desai is one of the kindest and most compassionate doctors. He was willing to perform multiple tests and try several treatments until we found a way to resolve my pain. It is wonderful to live a normal life again.

Another path I nearly took would likely have harmed me and might have affected my ability to care for my elderly mother. He is truly one of life's rescuers. I initially went there only for a PHI test, then discovered that he was the better choice for continuing care. His extensive experience and ability were factors in my decision to stay. He saved my life and reduced the potential burden others might have faced if my role needed to be filled. Those under his care receive lifesaving treatment. I had the most severe aggressive cancer, which had spread to the inner lining and would have become much worse if not removed. Dr. Premal Desai removed it all, and now it is undetectable. I have been cured. They have state-of-the-art modern equipment and facilities. His receptionists Michelle and Mirna, along with everyone in the office, are people who genuinely care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Premal Desai for nearly ten years. It is difficult to put into words the respect, warmth, and gratitude I feel for this man. Without going into detail, I can say that he has helped me through many awkward and difficult diagnoses with great wisdom, empathy, kindness, and skill, combined with a degree of lightness and humor I have rarely, if ever, encountered in a doctor. Although he is a specialist, his care is so reassuring that he feels like my PCP. He is forward-thinking in his field and always current on the latest treatments and procedures. Our health insurance changed several years ago, and he is no longer in our network, but I still consult him for second opinions and guidance. He is well worth any out-of-pocket cost, and I will continue doing so until I can make him my primary doctor again. Thank you, Dr. Desai.
