Dr. Sharon E. Moayeri, United States

I am Dr. Sharon Moayeri, MD, MPH, MS, FACOG, a fertility specialist and gynecologist with nearly 20 years of experience. As founder and medical director of OC Fertility® and OC Biogenix® in Newport Beach, California, I am dual board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Staying close to home at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), I graduated with a double major in biological sciences and cognitive science, then earned a Master of Public Health at UCLA, specializing in health policy and focusing on the development, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs.

Drawn to working one-on-one with patients in a clinical setting, I returned to Orange County for my medical degree at the UCI School of Medicine. I also completed my OB/GYN internship and residency there and served as administrative chief resident.

After residency, I moved to Northern California for a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. During that time, I received an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) postdoctoral research fellowship at Stanford's Center for Health Policy, where I earned a master's degree in health services research. My work focused on treatment outcomes, the influence of economics on healthcare decisions, and cost-effectiveness.

Soon after returning to Newport Beach in 2009, I founded my private practice, OC Fertility®. It fulfilled my vision of personalized, patient-centered, modern fertility care using current technology while emphasizing the patient experience and creating a supportive, safe environment for working toward family-building goals.

Over the years, I have reviewed for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AJOG) and Fertility and Sterility® and lectured and published on blastocyst embryo transfer, oncofertility, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), fertility preservation, and cost-effective fertility services. I have also received numerous teaching and patient-satisfaction awards.

In 2021, after nearly a decade as co-founder, partner, and medical director of a start-up IVF laboratory, I launched OC Biogenix, an on-site IVF laboratory and operating room. Bringing the OC Fertility + OC Biogenix teams together provides expertise and advanced technology to build on our success rates while seamlessly supporting patients in a trauma-informed space.

As a small-business owner dedicated to women's health, I stay connected to my local community and share expertise in cancer and fertility; egg and embryo fertility preservation; genetics; embryo testing; donor eggs or sperm; and surrogacy. I am often asked to educate other professionals about supporting patients' current and future reproductive choices. I also mentor and encourage the next generation of women entering STEM fields.
