Doctor Introduction

Dr. Jillian Kurtz, United States

Jillian Kurtz, DO, is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist at ORM Fertility's Portland office. A Portland native, she was “thrilled to return to the Pacific Northwest and begin serving patients here” after medical training in Colorado, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kurtz's passion for women's health and reproductive well-being began before medical school, when she worked as a patient advocate at Planned Parenthood in college. “Helping women through vulnerable situations has always felt natural to me,” she says. “I grew up with three sisters and have always been drawn to caring for women.”

Her interest in reproductive autonomy grew to include advocating for people's right to build the families they want.

Helping individuals and couples achieve their reproductive goals is deeply rewarding. Everyone deserves a family, and it is wonderful to see more nontraditional families grow and thrive.

Dr. Kurtz also empathizes with patients because she faced reproductive challenges herself. “My husband and I began trying to conceive near the end of residency, but month after month passed without a pregnancy,” she says. They pursued IVF and had two unsuccessful embryo transfers before taking time to regroup. “We were heartbroken and decided to take a month off. That was when we conceived naturally—proof of the value of reducing stress!”

When they began trying for a second child, conception was again difficult, so they returned to embryos created during their first IVF experience and succeeded with the first transfer. “I am truly glad I did IVF and had embryos remaining,” Dr. Kurtz says. “It reduced the stress of a second pregnancy.”

I went through assuming I could become pregnant and then facing unexpected difficulties and struggles. It was very hard. Now I can empathize with my patients in a personal and genuine way because the path to building a family is not smooth.

Her fertility challenges also made Dr. Kurtz a strong advocate for proactive fertility care and education about services such as egg freezing. “For people who have not found a life partner or are unsure whether they want children, egg freezing can be an excellent way to gain peace of mind,” she says.

I just wanted to stop by and share how wonderful the providers and staff are. They offer the best customer service and are very kind. I also want to give special thanks to Bella for being so supportive throughout this journey.

ORM was amazing. We went through intrauterine insemination (IUI), and they guided me through everything. Michelle was always available to answer any questions or concerns. Their financial team was also very helpful in helping my husband and me plan everything without surprises. Words cannot express how grateful I am for this team.

ORM provided a great experience. I appreciated that they accepted my insurance, which made everything easier to manage. Their staff communicated well and were responsive. Everything was organized, clearly explained, and easy to follow. They provided many excellent educational materials. I look forward to working with them for a second round.

The referral experience was terrible. If your doctor refers you here, do not bother trying to schedule. On my fourth call about an initial appointment, I was told directly that they had all the information they needed but would not accept the referral because the doctor had not printed a specific form from their website, signed it, and faxed it. They apparently do not understand how modern electronic referrals work, and I would be surprised if their staff even had email accounts. This is especially ridiculous because their "form" looks like a stylized 2003 Word document and contains less information than my doctor sent. Since the initial impression suggests a bureaucratic nightmare, we will go elsewhere.

After spending months on another clinic's waiting list, I called ORM, and within just a few weeks we had a consultation and began fertility testing. I had done extensive research, and ORM's practices were fully aligned with current treatments and protocols. The clinic staff were always friendly, the entire process was explained well, and we felt informed throughout. I think much of that was due to our incredible navigator, Giselle. I cannot praise her professionalism, care, thoroughness, attentiveness, and personality enough; she handled both difficult news and exciting updates with great sensitivity. We worked with Dr. Barbieri after more than two years without conceiving. After each test, we met with her to review our case. She took time to explain our options, offer recommendations, and answer questions. I never felt pressured to choose one treatment path over another, but we ultimately followed her advice and are now expecting our baby boy after our first transfer. Every staff member, doctor, and technician we encountered seemed genuinely happy to be there and committed to helping patients succeed. I absolutely recommend ORM to anyone experiencing fertility difficulties. Trust the process!

ORM has been nothing short of amazing! They genuinely care about their patients and are always diligent and prompt. Bethany is amazing!

I finally got my positive result. My husband and I tried for 5 years to have our baby, but it did not happen because of my polycystic ovary syndrome. We came to ORM full of hope and fear. They truly stay attentive to you and answer every question. To me, they did excellent, compassionate work, and today I graduated from the clinic. Successful in vitro fertilization, and my baby girl is on the way. Thank you to everyone and to my wonderful navigator, Giselle ♥️

I decided to use ORM based on my insurance and a friend's recommendation after her successful embryo transfer here. There is a lot to process during IVF, but you are assigned a Navigator whom you can contact with questions or concerns. My Navigator, Jennifer, was by far the most helpful person on this journey. She responded quickly to texts and calls, shared updates as soon as they were available, sent reminders, and provided updated medication calendars whenever I needed them. My assigned doctor was Dr. Hesla, who also performed my egg retrieval, and it could not have gone better. I had no recovery issues after surgery, and he made me feel well cared for and reassured afterward. Most of my routine ultrasounds were performed by Dr. Gwartney and Dr. McClusky. Both were very helpful and direct when I had to make difficult decisions, and I appreciated their tactful honesty. Dr. Kurtz performed my embryo transfer. We had an admittedly strange interaction: she entered saying she already knew me without a proper introduction or hello, although I was sure we had never met. I later checked my past appointments and confirmed it was my first appointment with her. The medication took effect shortly afterward, and I gave her the benefit of the doubt because it was not worth making an issue of it. I could not see the procedure on the screen because the assistant blocked my view, but when Dr. Kurtz pointed to another screen with a photo of my thawed embryo, I became absorbed in the photo and focused on that screen instead. The verbal exchange may have been odd, but she knows what she is doing. She transferred my embryo, and 1.5 weeks later I had a positive pregnancy test. I am now 11 weeks pregnant and having a very ordinary pregnancy, which is more than I could have hoped for, as anyone who has struggled with fertility understands. Thank you to everyone at ORM. My only wish is that Jennifer could stay with me for the rest of my journey now that I have graduated from IVF. Her excellent communication has spoiled me and given me unrealistic expectations for a Kaiser Permanente OB office, lol.

An amazing IVF journey. From beginning to end, Dr. Bankowski and my healthcare navigator Rachel guided me through the entire process, supported me, and communicated with me at every step, so I felt reassured about everything. I have a healthy baby girl who is now 8 months old, and after recently completing a second round of IVF, I am now 7 weeks pregnant. ORM has been outstanding and exceeded all my expectations, from freezing my eggs 7 years ago to today. Thank you, ORM!

I highly recommend ORM to anyone needing help or more information about their fertility journey. My husband and I were met with compassion, understanding, and excellent communication. I deeply appreciated that they took the time to understand our goals and financial situation and offered minimally invasive, financially feasible options while ensuring we understood every option available. The best part of our experience at ORM was that each patient is assigned a care navigator who is personally available by text or phone for any questions. Our fertility journey was stressful and emotional, but having someone answer my questions, no matter how small or silly, was incredibly reassuring and made me feel very well cared for. I especially want to thank Bethany, my care coordinator, for her wonderful attention. She was a good friend to me and a gift during this journey. I also thank Dr. Kurtz for always being positive and pragmatic and for guiding us through difficult decisions.

*As of today, I am owed a refund of 20% of my cycle cost, but billing (Keandra) continues to delay me. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Do not trust the Google reviews; Yelp reviews are more accurate for this clinic. If you are a woman over 35, do not come here. The doctors seem not to know what they are doing. My wife and I worked with Dr. Bankowski and saw him about 3 times in a year. Our treatment coordinator, Illeana, was neither thorough nor responsive to messages. We had 4 retrievals, 1 canceled, and 2 transfers. We obtained two euploid embryos, and both failed. We lost about $50,000 with nothing to show for it. This truly is an IVF factory. Perhaps they were good when they started, but now it is a money factory. Egg retrievals and transfers are performed by whoever is scheduled, not your assigned doctor. Retrieval stimulation protocols almost never change, even when your wife responds poorly. Even if they cancel a retrieval, they charge 20%! So you lose $4,000–5,000 on IVF stimulation medication, plus another $3,000 for them doing nothing. Then there is billing, which is as bad as everyone says. They charge you unpredictably. If you saved money for a procedure but insurance has not paid a prior-cycle bill, they simply deduct it from your deposit. Then you arrive and they ask for another $15,000. The financial coordinator's supervisor essentially said they can do whatever they want because they are a specialty clinic. That is interesting because I work at Aspen Dental. Aspen Dental has essentially been sued for this type of conduct.

Our first embryo transfer ended in miscarriage, and little compassion was shown. On the morning of our second transfer, we learned that the second embryo had not survived thawing. They transferred our final, third embryo, and the pregnancy test was negative. Their laboratory is poor, although the lab is critical to IVF success. Communication was inconsistent because the navigators kept changing; we never had one consistent contact. At every stage of treatment, we felt unheard. We rarely saw a doctor. I am now a patient of Dr. Stoelk at Northwest Fertility Center. When he first called me on a Sunday to make sure I was okay, I cried because I finally felt cared for by a doctor and office after the trauma caused by ORM. ORM is a factory, and its success rates reflect volume, nothing else. Before exhausting your finances, carefully evaluate who you want beside you for one of life's most important steps.

We had the best IVF experience with Dr. Kurtz, her nurse Olivia, and the entire PA team at ORM. We highly recommend them to anyone going through this process!

My navigator Giselle has been my lifeline. She is extremely responsive. If she is away, another navigator replies as quickly as possible. I have never waited more than a few hours for results. I am very pleased with the level of care! I have communicated with our doctor as often as I requested or needed. The scheduling staff are also excellent, replying immediately and calling back quickly!

We partnered with a fertility clinic close to us (on the other side of the country) to coordinate care to receive donated embryos at Pinnacle. The care coordination was exceptional. We felt an immediate connection to Dr. Barbieri. Bella, our patient navigator, has been responsive and kind. And we are excited to share that we are pregnant!
    Jul 11, 2025
We just completed our second embryo transfer at Pinnacle Fertility, formerly ORM. Although both transfers were successful and we are happy and grateful, this second transfer experience was especially excellent. I do not know whether this was because we are moving further from the nightmare of COVID and care continues to improve, or because the Tigard clinic is much more comfortable than the downtown location. I believe it is the former. It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Barbieri again, and Katie did an excellent job as our care coordinator. I always felt able to reach her, and whenever I had questions or concerns, Katie responded quickly in the most pleasant and reassuring way. We love it here!

I had 3 egg retrievals, 2 transfers, and 2 biopsies without success. One embryo did not even survive thawing despite having a perfect grade. I later transferred to an out-of-state clinic, CCRM, where one cycle produced better results than my first three cycles at Oregon Reproductive Medicine (ORM) combined. Despite being two years older, I had a miracle baby. Unfortunately, I believe ORM's embryology department is not very good, which is why I was unsuccessful there. While receiving care out of state, I returned to ORM for outside ultrasound and laboratory monitoring. They made many errors, such as sending the wrong endometrial report and, on one occasion, not sending it at all. When I politely requested a discount because of their errors, they barred me from outside monitoring. I could not believe I was treated this way. I liked my nurse, but I cannot recommend ORM to anyone as a patient or for outside monitoring. The errors, treatment, ban, and most importantly the failed outcomes together make ORM not worth it. My intention is not to speak badly of them, but to help others by sharing my experience. I do not want a generic reply asking me to contact you about this matter. It is over.

Over the past six years, I have had three successful IVF pregnancies at ORM. They have always been kind and professional, but this time I was amazed by how streamlined the entire process was. Communication was always easy and thoughtful. My questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. I never had to wait—almost all appointments and medication instructions were handled by text message. Not a minute was wasted at any appointment. I received a call back within 30 seconds to 5 minutes after checking in. The phlebotomist never missed a vein. I absolutely recommend ORM. Special thanks to Julie, my excellent patient navigator, and Dr. Hesla, a skilled expert who always brought calm to the stress and uncertainty of infertility.
    May 31, 2025
My experience at ORM was excellent. Their team supported me and remained responsive throughout two different treatment cycles. Although I had to stay attentive to my unique health needs and ensure that insurance billing was accurate and current, such as meeting my out-of-pocket maximum, I still highly recommend the ORM team, including my patient coordinator Olivia and Dr. Kurtz!
    Jul 17, 2025
We could not be more satisfied with our experience at ORM. Before coming to ORM, we visited several fertility practices in the Portland area, and it is no exaggeration to say they are the best. Every physician was highly professional and easy to work with, made the entire process transparent, and supported us throughout. Dr. Bankowski, Brooke, the phlebotomists, and the nurses—everyone was wonderful. We are all so excited to be expecting a child we once thought would be impossible! 10/10 recommended!

I had an amazing experience at ORM/Pinnacle Fertility! Our fertility consultant Bethany was wonderful. She was knowledgeable, responsive, and gave us tremendous support and encouragement throughout this difficult yet rewarding journey! All the staff were friendly, answered any questions I had, and helped me feel at ease throughout the process. My husband and I are deeply grateful to everyone at Pinnacle Fertility who helped us along the way, and we are very excited to welcome our baby in February. I highly recommend Pinnacle Fertility! Thank you, Pinnacle Fertility!

Inflexible. You can tell this is not a physician-led group.
    Jul 31, 2025
After two cycles, we finally succeeded, and we are so grateful we chose ORM. From beginning to end, the care and professionalism we experienced were unmatched. We initially worked with a doctor who turned out not to be the right fit for us. Clinic manager Katie kindly helped us transfer to Dr. Kurtz and ensured our cycle was not delayed. Dr. Kurtz was thoughtful and exactly what we needed—not only knowledgeable, but also willing to listen to our questions and preferences. Our coordinator, Audrey, was exceptional throughout. She was responsive, kind, and highly organized—exactly who we needed while navigating something as complex and stressful as fertility treatment. Dr. Helsa performed our egg retrieval and transfer, and his calm, skilled approach and professionalism impressed us deeply. We also appreciate Roxanne, who took time to explain laboratory procedures in detail, and Kelsey, who patiently and clearly helped us with insurance and billing. Every billing concern was handled promptly and fairly, and we even received a small refund without difficulty. Medical assistants Shannon, Sophia, Molly, and others were consistently kind, thorough, and generous with their time. They always explained monitoring findings in detail and patiently answered our questions. Receiving clear, helpful information between visits was invaluable, and they truly helped communication run smoothly. From the South Waterfront monitoring center and phlebotomists to the surgical staff, everyone was consistently kind, professional, and efficient. The facilities were clean and comfortable, and the standard of care was excellent. After spending more than two years at another Portland clinic, the contrast at ORM was remarkable. Everything ran more smoothly, and we felt confident and supported throughout. Fertility care is a major investment, and at ORM we truly felt that investment was matched by outstanding support, professionalism, and results. We are deeply grateful to the team for helping us grow our family.

The support team is first-rate. Dr. Kurtz is one of the kindest and best physicians I have had the privilege of meeting. We make a special effort to return to this clinic each time, hoping for a successful embryo transfer.

The care is amazing and timely the workers are very friendly. There is patient responsibility that insurance doesn’t cover. For testing to prepare for iui, it costed me about $700. They checked my husband last after all of my testing to find out he didn’t have the counts we were hoping and not even a month in were referred to IVF.

Dr. Bankowski and his team are wonderful. They are not only highly experienced in the field but also empathetic, helpful, and excellent communicators. We will choose Dr. B again for our next journey.

I write this with a grateful heart, hoping it will give strength to anyone struggling with or uncertain about moving forward with IVF. After several unsuccessful UI attempts, I felt physically and emotionally exhausted and discouraged. In December 2024, I decided to research the IVF process and whether my insurance covered it. Through that research, I was referred to Oregon Reproductive Medicine (ORM), now PINNACLE FERTILITY Portland. I contacted the clinic and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Coates. During our first Zoom meeting, we discussed many things, but one thing Dr. Coates said stayed with me: “Don't worry, I will take good care of you.” Those simple but powerful words gave me the hope and confidence I needed to begin my IVF journey. I cannot fully express how incredible the care I received was. From Dr. Coates to my fertility navigator Hadley and the entire Pinnacle Fertility team, I felt genuine support, attention, and care. I felt like part of a large family. After several months of treatment, my IVF was successful, and I am now expecting my baby. Throughout the process, Dr. Coates was a source of motivation. Her kind words and encouragement helped me through the hardest moments. Dr. Coates, words cannot express my gratitude. Thank you for bringing joy and hope into my life. You truly changed my life.

Today was my first and last appointment at Pinnacle. I was very clear that my fertility treatment would be managed by my doctor in my home country and that I needed an intrauterine insemination (IUI). During intake, they confirmed that they could perform the IUI. When they called to confirm my appointment, I confirmed this again. After I prepaid the $400 consultation fee, the nurse practitioner assigned to me, Shannon Gwartney, was extremely rude. She conducted my examination in Spanish and was condescending. She said I either had to undergo another evaluation and become a full patient of theirs or they would not provide the service. I had already decided against a medicated IUI, but she questioned my decision and nearly demanded that I explain why. She was very rude and lacked empathy. In under 15 minutes, when it was clear there was nothing else to discuss, she prolonged the conversation to justify charging $400 for what was supposed to be a 45-minute consultation. This is a typical clinic that only wants your money and does not care about patients. Save your time and money and stay away!

After receiving fertility services at other clinics, both international and local, our experience at ORM was flawless. After multiple failed IVF attempts, this was by far our best experience. I had previously worked with smaller clinics, which certainly have advantages, but the downside is that care is not immediately available—you usually have to follow their schedule rather than your body's timing. By contrast, ORM saw me quickly and assigned me to Dr. Hesla, an experienced, attentive physician who stays current with the latest research. We completed multiple treatment cycles and ultimately achieved positive results, including several embryos banked and—at age 41—a baby on the way. From start to finish, the clinic operated professionally and efficiently, including navigator support, egg retrievals, embryo transfers, ultrasounds, nursing, and blood draws. It truly felt like a one-stop center. The only drawback is that the clinic is closed on weekends, which can cause some inconvenience, although they clearly have strong protocols in place to keep cycles on track. You also rarely see the doctor in person, but I did not mind because I never felt there were any gaps in my care. Even so, I would choose ORM over other clinics without hesitation.

I live in Southern Oregon, just outside Medford. There are no fertility care or treatment options in this area; the nearest are in Eugene. My partner and I decided to make the long trip to Portland to visit Pinnacle, and I am so grateful we did! They were welcoming, friendly, and highly supportive, making the experience as positive and smooth as possible. Whenever possible, they coordinated with local imaging and laboratory facilities so we did not always have to travel to Portland. Our dedicated navigator, Katie, was central to their model. Having a consistent resource and guide throughout the process was incredibly helpful. We are now expecting our first child and are so grateful to Katie, Dr. Bankowski, and the entire Pinnacle team! I highly recommend them!

Overall, I had a good experience with this organization. It is helpful to have a navigator assigned to you to communicate between appointments, answer questions, and provide reassurance through a complicated process.

I had an amazing experience with ORM (now Pinnacle). Their IVF expertise is truly outstanding, and one of the main reasons I chose ORM was because of their excellent lab and advanced embryology technology. In the end, everything went very smoothly for me. The doctors are incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and patient, and they always took the time to explain things clearly. My coordinator was also wonderful — responsive, organized, and genuinely compassionate. From the very beginning, I felt I was in the best hands. The whole team worked seamlessly together, and their professionalism and kindness made this journey so much easier. I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done.

We successfully completed two treatment processes with the clinic team, once in 2020 and again in 2025. They were always responsive, everything was very clear, and they proactively sent information at every key stage. Most of the process was handled through correspondence rather than online chat, which we preferred. When we needed personalized documents, such as formal letters containing specific details, they were flexible and accommodated our requests.
    Nov 13, 2025
I had the privilege of completing two egg retrievals at Pinnacle Fertility with Dr. Kurtz, Katie, and the entire team. Throughout the process, they stayed in contact, kept me fully informed, and provided excellent guidance. Dr. Kurtz was attentive, insightful, and collaborative, helping me understand every treatment option and ensuring all my questions were answered. My treatment consultant, Katie, was wonderful—responsive, highly supportive, and caring. Every nurse, front desk staff member, and doctor was warm and friendly and went above and beyond to ensure I felt comfortable and reassured. Both egg retrievals were very positive experiences, and I highly recommend choosing this clinic for your fertility journey. They will care for you, guide you, and truly get to know you as a person. You are not just a number to them. We formed a genuine partnership in the decision-making process, and I could not have asked for a better care team. Thank you so much!

The entire team at ORM Downtown (now renamed Pinnacle), from the coordinators to the nurses and doctors, was wonderful. They helped my husband and me understand the process and each step. Fertility treatment was unfamiliar and frightening to us, but the team put us at ease. Our first IVF cycle was very successful and gave us our son. We hope our next treatment goes just as smoothly and gives us another baby. Thank you all so much!

Dr. Bankowski was very helpful and candid throughout the process; he is exceptionally intelligent. Joanna was part of the team and made sure we took our medications correctly, and she was always there whenever we needed help! The whole team was truly amazing!!! I had only one viable embryo and a very high-risk pregnancy. Last Monday, I gave birth to my IVF baby, and I know I never would have had this opportunity without this clinic and team. They were wonderful and provided so much useful information. I am incredibly grateful to have received this precious gift in the end. It was all worth it!

I cannot say enough good things about Pinnacle, especially Dr. Hesla and my coordinator, Julie. Fertility treatment can be very stressful, but their consistent communication was incredibly reassuring. Julie patiently and thoroughly answered all my many questions, while Dr. Hesla quickly assessed my situation and adjusted the treatment plan as needed. Special thanks also to the Pinnacle Seattle team; they were a pleasure to work with.

I was very pleased with my overall experience at ORM. The best part was my patient navigator, Bethany, who was exceptionally helpful, responsive, kind, and thoughtful. She made me feel comfortable and reassured throughout the process. I am very grateful to her for everything she did for me!

Pinnacle in Oregon is an excellent fertility clinic. I am 53 years old, 14 weeks pregnant, and expecting my first baby. I am deeply grateful to the Pinnacle team: Dr. Bankowski, who encouraged me to keep trying after my first attempt failed; my responsive and compassionate navigator, Lina Jang, who supported me through many changes and emotional ups and downs; the embryology and egg donor matching teams, especially Chelsea; Devin, who helped me with difficult ethical questions; and all the nurses, administrative staff, and financial staff. Thank you for giving me this unforgettable gift.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at ORM. From the first day, we felt seen and understood. The staff and doctors were kind and compassionate and always responded quickly to our questions and concerns. Infertility had left us physically and emotionally exhausted, but after only a few weeks at ORM, I conceived our first child through intrauterine insemination (IUI). The process was quick and painless, and the doctor and my coordinator were especially encouraging, informative, and kind throughout. I highly recommend ORM to anyone struggling with infertility.

I had a wonderful experience at Pinnacle (formerly known as ORM) working with Dr. Bankowski and Rachel as my coordinator. Every appointment was so nice with no waiting and all the staff working at either location was welcoming and friendly. I would especially like to send my gratitude to Rachel. During this process I had lots of questions and she was always there to answer all my questions promptly. She always made me comfortable asking any questions. Going through IVF is such a difficult and overwhelming experience but doing it at Pinnacle made it so worthwhile. You will have the best care and team there to guide you through the process. I cannot thank them enough for their service.

Thank you, Dr. Bankowski and ORM! After a failed IVF cycle at another clinic, I had nearly given up hope of having a child. Then I switched to ORM, and the experience was completely different. They did not sugarcoat my chances of success, which I personally appreciated, and discussed alternatives if IVF with my own eggs did not work. In the end, they succeeded! My daughter just turned one.

******I commuted from Eugene, Oregon, to Pinnacle, two hours each way.******** Thank goodness a coworker recommended Pinnacle in Portland! They returned my call less than an hour after my first inquiry, and two days later I had a new-patient appointment. The clinic has a friendly, knowledgeable, and kind team. Every staff member is outstanding. The clinic is clean and has a pleasant environment. I especially like the new location in Tigard. The women there are wonderful! My physician is Dr. Bankowski, and he is excellent.

I am *so very grateful* to Dr Kurtz and the rest of the team at ORM/Pinnacle Fertility. Their compassionate care supported us throughout our 18-month journey, and their expertise and competence made the impossible possible. Despite numerous hurdles along the way, we now have a healthy and thriving baby boy ❤️

My egg-freezing experience at Pinnacle Portland was seamless from start to finish. My patient navigator, Ashley, was like a guardian angel who supported me throughout, reflecting their exceptional patient care. By the end, everyone at the clinic felt like family, which mattered greatly when I needed to visit for blood draws and ultrasounds on consecutive days and weeks. I cannot imagine completing this journey at any other clinic, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who made it successful. Special thanks to Dr. Bankowski for his reassuring humor at the bedside and for helping me feel comfortable on retrieval day.

Words cannot express our gratitude to ORM/Pinnacle Fertility, including both the Portland and Tigard locations. My husband and I had wanted a child for years. We eventually conceived our son with medication, but our joy turned to unimaginable grief when we learned he had mosaic trisomy 22. After a stillbirth at 33 weeks, we realized we needed help building our family. We first tried self-pay intrauterine insemination (IUI) through Kaiser Permanente, but it failed. Later, my employer partnered with Progyny, and a Google search led us to ORM—which changed everything. Scheduling as a new patient was quick and easy. We worked with Dr. Hesla, who was both practical and compassionate. The process was long but extremely thorough. Each patient is assigned a patient navigator who can be reached by text, making communication simple. There is also a dedicated text support line, which makes the process even smoother. Early on, they suspected endometriosis, which finally explained years of unexplained infertility and multiple failed IUIs. Even so, we were told we were excellent candidates for a freeze-all IVF cycle, which was essential because it allowed us to genetically test the embryos. I will not sugarcoat it—preparing for egg retrieval is not easy. From injections to coordinating medications, the process was stressful. The clinic did its best to work with my insurance, though there were some anxious moments along the way. The retrieval itself went smoothly. Helpful tip: if you have sleep apnea, bring your breathing machine or CPAP. Thanks to God and the efforts of our excellent medical team, our first embryo transfer was successful. Dr. Hesla gave me several options and recommendations based on my individual reproductive health. I deeply appreciated this personalized care. I am now 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant with a healthy baby girl. We will absolutely return once I am cleared to use our two remaining embryos. Overall, I highly recommend ORM. Stay in close contact with your patient navigator—there are no silly questions. They genuinely want to help and truly care about you.

My experience here was so amazing! Having transferred from the other local fertility clinic was the right choice for our family. The support, communication and compassion was exactly what is needed in this journey.

We were extremely pleased with our experience at ORM Fertility, now renamed Pinnacle. Thanks to Pinnacle's help, we became pregnant! My wife and I worked with Dr. Kurtz throughout reciprocal IVF. From our first consultation, Dr. Kurtz was kind and inclusive in both her words and manner. She provided extensive knowledge and feedback and developed a very clear treatment plan. She designed the protocol that ultimately led to a successful egg retrieval for my wife and a medicated embryo transfer protocol for me. Dr. Kurtz personally performed our embryo transfer, which went very smoothly, and remained positive and friendly throughout. We are very grateful for her expertise and dedication. Throughout treatment, we loved having ultrasounds with physician assistant Sophia. She always greeted us with a smile and a positive attitude. She patiently answered every question, addressed every need, and never seemed rushed, which we greatly appreciated during such a stressful time. Tiffany, our former nurse navigator, who has now found her dream job, was amazing. She was always patient and responded quickly when we encountered some very unusual circumstances. Every issue was handled promptly, and we were never left waiting or confused. I have heard that all of Pinnacle's patient navigators are excellent. Tabitha, our favorite phlebotomist and my lab friend, we will miss your bright smile and our early-morning conversations during blood draws. It is wonderful to form friendships with the people helping you. I know your work can be busy and repetitive, but you always made me laugh, and your blood draws were excellent—always painless, quick, and efficient. We appreciate you so much! Our financial coordinator, Kayla, promptly addressed all our needs and was very easy to communicate and work with. To all the preoperative and postoperative nurses who helped my wife with her egg retrieval, you were all outstanding, attentive, and efficient. I am sorry I did not write down your names. Dr. Luck, thank you so much for performing our two post-transfer ultrasounds and being there on graduation day to reassure us and provide all the information we needed! You will be a great addition to the team. Thank you all again!

From my very first appointment to my egg extraction I felt so well taken care of by everyone at Pinnacle Fertility. They were so helpful, supportive, and communicative every step of the way. I felt so safe and well informed throughout the entire process. It was a huge financial and physical decision to work with them, and I feel like they respected my commitment with their efforts. I can't recommend this facility and their staff enough.

I had an excellent experience at Pinnacle Fertility and highly recommend them! Dr. Kurtz and the entire team were extremely helpful throughout treatment. From the beginning, they made us feel supported, fully informed, and genuinely cared for. Fertility treatment can be emotional and stressful, but the staff were always kind, patient, and responsive whenever I had a question or concern. Special thanks to my navigator Julie, who was outstanding. She always took time to answer every question and guide me through each step. Her support meant so much to me during this process. I also want to thank physician assistant Sophia Brett, who performed several of my ultrasounds. She was kind and gentle at every visit and made me feel at ease, which was very important to me. Dr. Kurtz is an excellent doctor who gave us confidence and hope at every stage of treatment. We are deeply grateful to the entire team for helping us reach this special moment in our lives. I highly recommend Pinnacle Fertility to anyone undergoing fertility treatment. Thank you all for everything you did for us.

Our experience at Pinnacle Fertility was extremely frustrating, very expensive, and at times unacceptable. At every step, profit seemed to come before patient-centered care, compassion, and transparency. Communication was consistently poor: vague, contradictory, and reactive rather than proactive. We often felt we were chasing basic information instead of being guided. Follow-up questions were treated as a burden or waste of time rather than an opportunity to help us understand and feel respected. One of the most troubling events occurred during an intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycle. Despite clear communication problems that directly affected timing and left us almost no chance of success, they still guided us through the entire cycle without explaining this. Only afterward, through other doctors, did we understand how poor the timing was. That cycle cost substantial money and emotional energy unnecessarily. When we raised concerns, no one took meaningful responsibility. Instead, they changed our point of contact while implying that our expectations or questions were the problem. We were repeatedly treated as burdens simply for trying to understand the plan. We wanted no guarantees, only clear, honest communication about what was happening and why. Our communication with Dr. Bankowski was especially disappointing. When we tried to address these issues, his tone was dismissive and condescending. Rather than acknowledging the problem, he reframed our concerns as frustration with failed treatment, missing the point and leaving us feeling ignored and disrespected. Most shocking was what happened after we conceived naturally. At the follow-up ultrasound, there was no support or shared joy, only a cold, routine interaction. They then encouraged us to schedule and pay for additional ultrasounds, which two other doctors later confirmed were unnecessary. They did not even offer copies of the ultrasound images, something most clinics readily provide. Overall, our experience felt far more profit-focused than patient-centered. Fertility treatment is already emotionally and financially draining, and patients deserve transparency, respect, and effective communication. We did not receive those here. We do not recommend Pinnacle Fertility and strongly advise other patients to seek care elsewhere.

My experience at this fertility clinic was amazing! Every staff member and doctor made me feel welcome and listened carefully to my concerns. IVF is inherently stressful, so having doctors support and reassure me throughout was wonderful. I have no complaints. From egg retrieval to embryo transfer, my experience was excellent. The anesthesiologist was also amazing and eased much of my anxiety. This was my first IVF cycle, and thanks to Dr. Barbieri, it succeeded on the first attempt! 🩷 I have officially graduated from the clinic and am now carrying my daughter! 🩷🙏🏼 Thank you so much! Special thanks also to my coordinator, Bella. I do not know what I would have done without her. She helped me tremendously and answered many questions throughout the process. I recommend this clinic 100% to every prospective mother hoping to have a child! 🩷

I completed two IVF cycles at Oregon Reproductive Medicine (ORM, now Pinnacle Fertility Oregon). The first cycle did not result in pregnancy, which was heartbreaking. After some adjustments, the second cycle produced five embryos—an incredibly meaningful result that restored my hope. Dr. Hesla was outstanding—patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. I felt thoughtfully cared for throughout the process. The entire team was supportive, attentive, and dedicated, making this challenging journey much easier. Because I live in another state, I needed several local blood draws and monitoring visits. ORM coordinated everything seamlessly, so I barely had to manage any details. That support allowed me to focus on treatment. Once the embryos were created, the team regularly updated me on their development. These updates greatly eased my anxiety and helped me face each day with confidence and hope. I especially want to thank my coordinator, Jennifer, who went above and beyond. Her communication was prompt, her instructions were clear, and she answered urgent questions even outside regular business hours. Knowing she was there made me feel supported at every step. I am deeply grateful to the entire team for their care, dedication, and compassion. Their support was essential during this emotional journey.

Run! Do not hesitate! This organization does everything backward. Whether you are looking for a surrogate or pursuing IVF, their entire process is reversed. They wasted my money, and I still have not received a refund. They drew my blood without even checking whether I was pregnant, although I was. They told me my endometrium was too thick and that I needed a biopsy because they suspected cancer. Six days later, I logged into the system myself to view the test result and learned that this was indeed the case. I ultimately went to the emergency department and miscarried. I then waited another 6 months to begin treatment. I was supposed to start medication that would cost $6,000 for two attempts, but another issue arose that might have disqualified me. Fortunately, I waited because I had completely lost trust in them. Later, they also disqualified my sister for reasons that remain unclear, although they told us every reason. This clinic’s treatment scheduling provides no benefit, and its healthcare practices are extremely irresponsible. Seriously, go elsewhere.

We had an excellent experience at Pinnacle. Our coordinator, Giselle, was outstanding. She always responded promptly and was kind and knowledgeable, keeping the process smooth despite the ups and downs. Our conversations with Dr. Barbieri were also valuable; she is highly skilled, truly caring, and patiently answered all our questions. The laboratory director personally called to confirm that all our questions had been answered, which we greatly appreciated. The entire organization, including communication with the billing coordinator, was excellent.

Do not go to ORM! They only want your money. My insurance covers fertility treatment, but their billing department is terrible and does not know how to work with insured patients. They always bill insurance first, then require you to prepay part of the cost. In 99% of cases, I overpaid and still ended up with an outstanding balance. They do not listen to your concerns or care how you feel. Dr. Kurtz is highly skilled, but the process was terrible and extremely stressful from the beginning. Trying to conceive is stressful enough without this added burden. I completed 5 failed cycles involving medication, timed intercourse, or intrauterine insemination. I repeatedly developed cysts that delayed each cycle. I was diagnosed with PCOS, but they avoided discussing it. When it was time to begin IVF, they told me the day before the procedure that my BMI was too high for anesthesia, so I could not proceed. I was devastated. I spent a year focusing on my health and getting into better condition. By March 2026, I was ready for my second IVF attempt, but the day before the procedure they again said I could not proceed because my BMI was too high, even though I had lost 25 pounds after being told I only needed to lose 10–15. I was furious. I had gained some weight while taking birth control, but they did not care. They gave me the runaround, cost me thousands of dollars, and left me with $1,000 worth of IVF medication in my refrigerator that may go to waste. Please go elsewhere and spare yourself the mental and emotional distress. Their communication is terrible, and they do not notify you when fees change; they simply continue charging monthly. Sperm storage used to be billed annually, then somehow changed to monthly without notice. They only want your money and will not actually help you become pregnant!

Pinnacle’s service was outstanding from start to finish, with excellent communication, support, and responsiveness. From Dr. Kurtz and my patient care coordinator Lina, RN, BSN, to the front desk and financial teams, everyone at Pinnacle worked hard to make this lengthy process clear and reassuring at every step. Their billing, customer service, and patient care processes are very convenient, especially the text messaging service, which provides immediate responses without requiring me to wait or call during the workday. On two occasions, my care coordinator generously made time for multiple phone conversations to resolve scheduling issues involving genetic testing and the start of our IVF cycle, ensuring that we met important deadlines. Completing this process between Bend and Portand was challenging, but the Pinnacle team always supported us. They patiently answered all our questions about injections, trigger timing, and retrieval. I highly recommend Pinnacle!

I've since transferred care because of issues with their payment collection. They ask for payment up front and seem to bill insurance after. This process means that almost none of my payments to them were captured in my overall out of pocket max. There were also multiple instances of my insurance saying they covered $ amount and I owe $ amount that were different than what Pinnacle was saying. This process created a lot of stress and confusion. I got the overall vibe that this is now a corporately owned profit centric company focused on IVF primarily.

This is the place to go, especially if you’re LGBT+. I was able to accomplish so much more in one appointment with Pinnacle than I was in over 6 months of back-and-forth with Spring. They’re kind, compassionate, and actually take time to listen to and prioritize YOU. So thankful for this business.

My doctor, Amanda Hurliman, and the staff here are wonderful, so this review does not reflect my experience with them. Amanda took time to listen, explain things, and answer my questions. This review reflects my experience with the billing department. It has honestly been so bad that I do not even want to continue receiving care here. I am already dealing with the stress of trying to conceive, and now I have the added stress of receiving multiple unresolved bills in the mail because my insurance was billed incorrectly. The infertility journey can be a large and frightening process filled with unknowns and uncertainty. Dr. Hurliman and her team care about you and make your journey highly personalized. Dr. Hurliman is so invested in you that it feels as though you are her only patient. I had the opportunity to meet many doctors throughout my journey, and Dr. Hurliman and her team were by far the best. I recommend Dr. Hurliman and her ORM team to anyone seeking the best possible outcome for their fertility journey.

ORM has always been professional and helpful. They provide extensive information throughout treatment. It can sometimes take a while to get an appointment, but once your cycle begins, they prioritize your schedule and ensure you receive what you need.
    Oct 28, 2020
I would not even give one star. Telling someone before they see a doctor that they are overweight and need treatment is extremely rude and unprofessional. They need to be kinder because couples going through this are already under stress, and their words should be gentler, not merely lip service.

*As of today, I am owed a refund of 20% of the cycle cost, but the billing department is still giving me the runaround. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. If you are a woman over 35, do not come here. The doctors do not seem to know what they are doing. My wife and I worked with Dr. Bankowski and saw him about 3 times over the course of a year. Our treatment coordinator, Illeana, was neither thorough nor responsive to texts. We had 4 egg retrievals (1 canceled) and 2 transfers. We obtained two euploid embryos, and both failed. We lost about $50,000 with nothing to show for it. This truly is an IVF factory. Maybe they were good when they started, but now it is just a money-making operation. Egg retrievals and transfers are performed by whoever is scheduled, not by your assigned doctor. The ovarian stimulation medication protocol is almost never changed, even if your wife responds poorly. Even if they decide to cancel an egg retrieval, they charge you 20%! So not only do you lose $4,000–5,000 on IVF stimulation medication, but they also take $3,000 for doing nothing! Then there is the billing department, which is as bad as everyone in the reviews says. They add charges without warning. If you have money on deposit for a procedure but your health insurance has not yet paid a bill from a previous cycle, they simply deduct it from your deposit. You walk in and they ask for another $15,000. The head financial coordinator essentially said they can do whatever they want because they are a specialty clinic. That is interesting because I work at Aspen Dental. Aspen Dental was essentially sued for this type of conduct. ORM's turn may be coming soon.

Promise "Concierge service" and then immediately become the most hands off company possible. When asked why they won't interact with other entities they say "Because you need to". Drove my wife to tears, wasted thousands of our dollars, near a hundred hours of my poor wifes time. We're fortunate enough to have the means and free time to navigate how hands off pinnacle is, but if you don't have a part time job worth of spare time on your hands, RUN AWAY!
