Erika Johnston-MacAnanny, M.D., FACOG, completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University. She earned her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, completed her OB/GYN residency at Thomas Jefferson University, and completed a three-year reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) fellowship at the University of Connecticut Health Center.
After her fellowship, Dr. Johnston became an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Reproductive Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine. Her most recent role there was Medical Director of the Center for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Johnston is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
She is active in continuing medical education, including writing for the American College of Physicians MKSAP and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Prolog workgroups. She was selected as co-chair of the 2018 ACOG Prolog revision in reproductive medicine. She currently chairs the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Women’s Council and helps write questions for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) subspecialty board examination. She teaches advanced hysteroscopic surgery techniques to gynecologists and reproductive endocrinologists nationwide.
During her fellowship and faculty appointment at Wake Forest, she received national research and teaching awards and published research on fertility topics including in vitro fertilization, endometriosis, and recurrent implantation failure. Dr. Johnston joined SGF at its Richmond, Virginia office in 2018.
