    Excellent service.

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is ranked number one in healthcare, and deservedly so! My husband and I have had several procedures there, some recently and some in the past. Our outcomes have been outstanding, to say the least! Their doctors are so intelligent and kind. They take the time to listen and respond in plain language. Without Mayo, we would not be alive today!

Mayo Clinic is the main reason to live in Red Wing. It is very unusual for a small town of 16,000 people to have healthcare of such high quality. Both my wife and I received outstanding, lifesaving medical care from the Mayo Clinic here, and we are very grateful.

They cater to the wealthy. Even if you are close to death and hope to be placed on the transplant list, you do not matter to them if you cannot bring them substantial income, even with insurance. It is very sad that we have to pay so much simply to survive in this country.

I thought Mayo was different. I thought Mayo was where you turned when none of your doctors could find answers to your medical problems. I was wrong. Very disappointing. No better than an average clinic...and average clinics fall short...very short.

I have a rare heart condition, so I booked an appointment with the head of preventive cardiology at Mayo Clinic. They are supposed to be among the best in cardiology in the United States. I flew more than 1,000 miles from my home in New Jersey to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I spent an entire day undergoing tests and had an appointment with the specialist the next day. Two hours before the appointment, they pulled a bait and switch, suddenly changing it to a much more junior, young, and inexperienced physician. She could not answer my questions satisfactorily. It was a waste of time and money, not to mention stressful. I spent $1,200 in total. I would not recommend Mayo Clinic because of how unprofessionally they treated me. I gained no new information from this visit.

The ‘worst hospital in the country,’ Mayo Clinic, made my mother wait a year to be accepted as a patient. In the end, ‘a woman’ called in a cold voice to say she did not qualify to be seen. Neurology refused to see her as a patient. They did not just refuse treatment; they refused even an appointment!!! My mother has multiple system atrophy, and I brought her in a wheelchair all the way from Turkey to the United States. She had just had a feeding tube placed in her stomach, and all we asked was to see a doctor in case she qualified for a multiple system atrophy trial or any other trial that might improve her quality of life. She was diagnosed with MS three years ago, and Neurology did not even review her MRI or the doctor’s documentation we sent. When I asked the person on the phone why, she gave no response and said that not everyone can be a Mayo Clinic patient! I hope that one day they experience the same quality of care for their loved ones. Then they will understand the desperation of being told that someone does not deserve even to be seen as a patient, much less treated!

More food options are needed for people who restrict both gluten and dairy. More corn-free foods are also needed for people with corn intolerance.

Over-rated now. Once great... no longer. Maybe got too big. It has lost quality over the desire for quantity... bigger and bigger is not better and better. Always trying to upcharge also. Does more damage now than good. A few bad apples are damaging the honored and longstanding great reputation. In my case, when there was no progress to my problem and constant delays or unnecessary tests and procedures to prolong the hospital visit for days and days, I indicated I was leaving and going to Gundersen in LaCrosse. When I said this... I was threatened by one so-called "doctor" with a psych hold. I said..."I am an ex-Marine with multiple black belts...go ahead and try to hold me here against my will. Let's see what happens to anyone trying to stop me from leaving. I hope your ER isn't busy because it will be." I then left. I drove to LaCrosse... and got considerate care at Gundersen with a quick, accurate diagnosis and treatment without some masochistic "doctor" purposely jamming a needle thru my vein deep into my arm trying to do a blood draw creating a large hematoma like what happened at St. Mary's hospital. Do no harm? I was harmed on purpose at this hospital.(997)

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Mayo Clinic. Every staff member, nurse, and doctor I encountered genuinely cared about patients—something I have never experienced anywhere else. This is by far the largest medical institution where I have received treatment, yet it also provided the most personalized care and individual attention. The clinic is large, but its resources and guidance are so well organized that the entire treatment process is clear and understandable from beginning to end.

My company’s human resources manager suggested that I seek a consultation about a nodule found in my lung. The first doctor wanted to remove part of my lung. Mayo Clinic performed a more thorough evaluation, and no resection was needed. I understand why people from around the world choose Mayo Clinic.

My son’s skull plates fused prematurely. We decided to try Mayo Clinic and met pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ahn. At the first visit, I knew I could trust him! He created slides and explained every detail very clearly. He was approachable and extremely knowledgeable. On the day of my son’s surgery, he came to the preoperative area and spoke with us, then asked if he could pray for us and the surgical team. We said of course! He came over, placed his hand on my son’s head, and prayed. That is so rare today! This doctor is amazing! I would not entrust my son to anyone else. Of course, the surgery went smoothly, and he even finished before the time he had given us! My son had some pain that evening, which was expected. He went home the next day! When he woke up the following day, he was completely back to normal! If your child has this condition, I highly recommend Dr. Ahn!

I came here about a year ago with many problems. When they saw that I had been diagnosed with anxiety, they showed no compassion and rushed me out without helping me. I then went to a small hospital in my area, where they found I had severe anemia. They were shocked that I had not suffered a heart attack, which shows how incompetent this place was... truly embarrassing.

I was being seen until Dec 2024 in the Women’s Health dept since 2000 for peri-menopause. They told me today I’m no longer going to be seen since they aren’t providing on-going care to me since “I’m fine now” and there are too many on the wait list. Wouldn’t refer me to anyone else on campus and told me to visit the Menopause Society website to find a Dr. in my area. My opinion of this place just did a complete 360 as they had no reason to dump me as a patient that still having issues. Even after pleading this… I was told to refer to the website. But let’s go back to seeing someone in my area that REFERRED ME TO THEM. So to Dr Kuhle and her team - BRAVO for being such “fantastic” people - I hope all those wait-listers feel you’re worth it.

I have been going to Mayo Clinic since I was about 4 months old, and I am now 24. Over the years, they have helped treat and manage my congenital heart disease, specifically tricuspid atresia, and the experience has been incredible—understanding and accommodating. However, the campus is large and often has extensive construction, so you may need to hurry, especially if your hotel is not nearby, to avoid being late. There have occasionally been problems with my IVs, but this is uncommon. For the care I need, I could not ask for better. They saved my life, and I am deeply grateful to the staff who have helped me for more than 20 years.

They rejected my mother. She had an aggressive cancer, and the doctor made her wait for an appointment. They scheduled an appointment only to cancel it. They did not tell or notify us that it had been canceled. They had seen the biopsy results and knew how serious it was. She ultimately went to the Hennepin emergency department. They waited three full days to respond and then refused to treat her. If you care about your loved one, do not come here. Save yourself. They are not what you think.

It feels a little strange to review Mayo Clinic as an employee, but I recently received care here and had a wonderful experience. The doctors, nurses, and support staff were consistently courteous and attentive to me as a patient. I was impressed by how efficiently Mayo Clinic arranged outpatient follow-up, something I never experienced in my home states of California or Colorado. My gastroenterologist and primary care doctor are world-class. I not only trust Mayo Clinic, but would gladly recommend it to my family and loved ones.

Without question, this is the best hospital in the world. They are patient-centered, empathetic, and caring. After a 10-hour spine surgery, I thank God and all the Mayo Clinic clinicians who brought me safely through it. The nurses are angels who love their work. Every test is well organized and updated in real time in the Mayo app. I cannot praise the hospital, its staff, equipment, and facilities enough. It is no wonder it has been ranked number one in the United States for many years. Finally, special thanks to the brilliant doctor who oversaw everything and performed my surgery. Thank you, Dr. Arjun S. Sebastian.

    1. The situation is complicated, but I had a poor experience with the endometriosis department because I never had the opportunity to receive their services. They forgot to schedule my appointment. 2. We drove all the way there, only to be turned away by orthopedics because we honestly disclosed that we had COVID. The doctor refused to see us even while we wore masks. 3. Both experiences at Mayo Clinic were very difficult for my mother. This was unacceptable. 4. They make you pay for hospital parking, and appointments are delayed by weeks. Only wealthy people or local residents can afford care here. 5. Healthcare should be about providing medical care, not operating a profit-driven business. 6. I used to be proud that the renowned Mayo Clinic was in my hometown. Since becoming a patient, however, I never want to return.

Since coming to Mayo Clinic with a degenerative, progressive condition, I feel better than I have in 15 years! They have worked very hard to find the right treatment while respecting and addressing my concerns and goals. From imaging, laboratory services, scheduling, radiology, neurology, internal medicine, and pharmacy—not to mention the hundreds of nurses and support staff I encountered—I never had an unpleasant experience anywhere in the clinic system. The staff and service are incredible, and I highly recommend them. Minnesota is fortunate to have Mayo Clinic!

These doctors will deceive you. They say one thing and do another, and will do anything for money! This was the worst experience I have ever had. I pray that no one else is treated so terribly!

Exemplifies the patient-centered, integrated model. The 'Mayo system' works flawlessly—records are shared instantly between specialists, eliminating repetition. The care is deliberate, collaborative, and unhurried. The campus, including the Gonda Building, is designed for healing with abundant natural light and art.

They misrepresented the risks of colonoscopy and concealed the most serious consequences. Communication was extremely poor. No one answered my questions promptly or properly, and they avoided anything that might make them look bad. They did not reveal the high cost or demand for prepayment until I requested an estimate. They did not even have the courage to tell me in person that I needed a ride home. Online customer service was useless. Immediately after I paid, they raised the price and made me pay again. Nothing but excuses and no accountability.

Everyone there was kind, especially one valet who was excellent and extremely friendly. What I disliked was that he went to the emergency room in Mankato, where they could not even perform surgery to drain the infected incision, so they made us travel all the way back to Rochester. I do not mind traveling, but my family is not wealthy, everyone has to work, and it is hard to find someone available. Other places can do what Rochester does; perhaps even New Ulm could. There should be better options nearby. I think Mayo Clinic is fine, but it may be inconvenient for people living in the area.

Highly skilled doctors and first-rate facilities. The subway-level location is excellent because you can move through the building without going outside, which is especially convenient during cold winters.

I came here for specialized procedures. There were some insurance verification problems, but the staff assisting with scheduling were absolutely five-star. Despite the difficulties, they did everything possible to help. They always returned calls promptly and followed up. Special thanks to Cici, who helped coordinate everything—I wish I could meet her and give her a big hug for all she did.

How will you provide evidence of adrenal gland failure from a microbiological perspective? If you cannot document this with the so-called records, you were NEVER a healthcare practitioner, Dr. Abu. Unfortunately, not every country would permit you to register and practice as a doctor.

They have destroyed some historic features. I know some rooms offer good information about the history, but I do not want to see this larger building converted to a “futuristic” style and renovated inside. I feel that they want us to forget Mayo Clinic's history. 😭😭😭😭😭 I understand that they need to add facilities, but they cannot erase history. The old marble walls and floors were more beautiful and polished and reminded me of the old buildings my father helped design when I was a child. Do not erase his amazing old designs, because they are also part of history! 😡 Yes, I am truly angry because it is wrong to erase Mayo Clinic's history and renovate it in a “futuristic” style to make it look “modern.” Medical supplies and life-saving equipment can change, I understand that, but I do not want them—the state government—to erase history.

Mayo Clinic saved my life twice! I have visited the Rochester, Jacksonville, and Phoenix locations. From now on, I will only go to Mayo Clinic!

I have had a thyroid condition for several years and have never received adequate treatment. Eventually, my primary care physician said there was nothing more he could do and referred me here. It took a month just to get my name entered into the system for an appointment! Once I finally secured an appointment, I felt as though I had to complete an endless series of steps, watch a video, and then wait to learn whether I would be accepted. That alone is unacceptable; a physician's referral should be enough! You refused to provide care simply because my results were “not bad enough.” How can you decide how I feel every day? Even worse, when I called to ask whether I had been accepted, Kathy was extremely rude. I have never heard such an unpleasant tone or such a lack of compassion toward someone who is genuinely suffering. All she said was, “Sir, your application was denied.” If she has no empathy, she should not work in healthcare. Overall, everything about Mayo Clinic Rochester was terrible. I will never visit any of your facilities again.

My rheumatologist referred me here because of ongoing health problems without a clear diagnosis or cause for my rapidly declining health, including a progressive loss of walking ability and many other symptoms that do not match the typical presentation of autoimmune or neurological disorders. This was my last hope because I had already seen multiple neurology, rheumatology, and gastroenterology specialists who could not explain my worsening health. The rejection letter I received was absurd. It said that “Mayo Clinic prioritizes appointments based on whether it can offer additional testing or treatment that may benefit you or differ significantly from evaluations you have already received.” This makes no sense because the application never once asked me to provide medical records. Making a decision without reviewing medical records is medical negligence, especially when the email uses language like this. I suppose there is a reason you are considered the world's leading clinic: if a patient's case is complex and cannot be confirmed through a simple diagnosis, you readily refuse to see them. Their symptoms do not meet standard diagnostic criteria, or perhaps they lack unlimited financial resources, so you do not bother to determine the cause.

The audiology visit was excellent, but the ENT visit was less pleasant. We waited more than an hour to see the doctor, who was very insistent that we have all testing done there. He said he could only guarantee the best care if every test was performed there.

One-star review My recent experience at Mayo Clinic Rochester was shockingly disappointing. From the moment I walked in, basic courtesy seemed to have been abandoned. Reception: The front desk staff were not welcoming at all. Instead of making eye contact, they rolled their eyes, gave curt answers to simple questions, and acted as though I should be grateful they were speaking to me. This set a terrible tone for the entire visit. When I asked for help understanding some paperwork, the receptionist sighed heavily, pointed to a sign, and turned away before I had finished speaking. I have never encountered such coldness in a medical facility. Scheduling and registration: Calling ahead to schedule was no better. I was transferred three times and placed on hold each time. The people answering sounded robotic and irritated that I had dared to call. Every transfer felt like a game of hot potato—no one wanted to take responsibility. Doctors and clinical staff: Unfortunately, the doctors I met were condescending. Instead of listening carefully, they seemed eager to move me along and dismissed my concerns as though my questions were a major inconvenience. I felt that they valued their time more than my health. Their explanations were rushed, the next steps were unclear, and any attempt to clarify was met with barely concealed impatience. Overall atmosphere: Despite Mayo Clinic’s reputation, the Rochester location felt bureaucratic, cold, and impersonal. Pride in their prestige seemed to overshadow any genuine compassion or willingness to communicate. I left feeling small and ignored rather than reassured, and convinced that patient care ranked last among their priorities. Conclusion: If you value respectful communication and doctors who truly listen, look elsewhere. My experience at Mayo Rochester showed that a famous name does not necessarily mean compassionate medical care.

I suffered from lower back pain for years and received regular injections. I eventually found Dr. Sebastian at Mayo Clinic and had a TOPS device implanted.
