Dr. Michael Kettel, United States
Dr. Michael Kettel graduated with honors from the University of Arizona. He joined San Diego Fertility Center in 1996 after serving for more than 6 years as director of infertility services and a faculty member at the University of California, San Diego. After an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Utah, he completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Kettel is board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and obstetrics and gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Kettel is also certified as a high-complexity laboratory director, with additional expertise in human embryology and andrology. This distinctive certification places him among the few fertility physicians who have pursued this additional training and expertise. He is a member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

He has received numerous academic and teaching awards and published more than 100 scientific papers, articles, and book chapters on the treatment of endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and ovulatory disorders that cause infertility. He is also a clinical professor at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Kettel has been recognized by his peers as a leading infertility physician and specialist. Since 1996, he has been named among “The Best Doctors in America” (1996-2014) and “San Diego’s Top Doctors” by the San Diego County Medical Society. He has received more than $1,000,000 in research funding and actively participates in clinical trials exploring new methods to improve success rates in IVF, ovulation induction, and adhesion prevention. His recent interests include preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and novel delivery systems for hormonal medications.
