Dr. Karenne Fru, United States
I am from Cameroon in West Africa and immigrated to the United States to complete my education with the love and support of my family in Atlanta. I am now a proud wife and mother of two wonderful daughters. Outside work, I am an avid gardener, dancer, cook, chicken keeper, and amateur photographer.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. I was then accepted to the Medical College of Georgia, where I completed MD and PhD degrees and became the program’s first Black MD/PhD graduate. My doctoral thesis focused on periovulatory events in rhesus monkeys. I completed a four-year obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) residency at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina. My passion for women’s health led me to pursue subspecialty fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
I am dual board-certified in OB/GYN and REI. My interests include patient advocacy and education, closing gaps in access to care for minority and other special populations, ovulatory dysfunction, fibroid management, and mental health support in reproductive care. I have intentionally centered my practice on underserved patients and make my patients’ goals my own. My own extensive experience as a patient informs every interaction alongside my medical training. I founded Muna Fertility to make this vision a reality and look forward to partnering in your care.
