Dr. Marcus Jurema, United States
Dr. Marcus Jurema is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and OB/GYN who earned his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College, then pursued further training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility through a fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
After his fellowship, Dr. Jurema accepted an academic position at Brown University Medical School as Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. There, he pursued his clinical research interests and became Director of the Egg Freezing Program and Co-Director of Brown's Donor Egg Program. To be closer to family, Dr. Jurema, his wife, and their two children decided to move to New Jersey.
“Family has always been an important factor in my personal life and decisions,” he says. “They inspire me to treat my patients with the same compassion.”
Dr. Jurema developed and implemented an in vitro maturation (IVM) program for oocytes at Brown University and is nationally and internationally recognized for technical advances in oocyte (egg) maturation, a technique that allows a woman's eggs to mature outside the body. He is an invited speaker nationally and internationally and frequently joins expert panels to teach reproductive science professionals. His clinical expertise includes assisted reproductive technology, recurrent pregnancy loss/implantation failure, ovarian reserve concerns, fertility preservation, third-party reproduction, and reproductive surgery.
Dr. Jurema grew up in Brazil and speaks Portuguese and Spanish fluently.
