Joshua Sheehan is an absolute joke of a “doctor.”

Are you kidding? Did your doctor or nurse know what you were doing at the time?

So far, every Tufts employee I have encountered at 260 Tremont has been rude. They do not seem busy, so you would expect them to have time to be courteous. Inconsiderate behavior may be the norm for Tufts employees.

Sharks looking to charge as much for medical procedures as possible. Facility fees not charged to insurance should be a crime. Your billing system is shameful.

The emergency room restrooms are sometimes not clean enough.

I believe Tufts Medical Center is one of the top five hospitals in Boston. Everyone there, from the doctors to the nurses, treats patients with care and respect. I really like them.

Dr. Orr is amazing! She listens carefully, takes action, and is an excellent physician. She is the first doctor I have met who truly explained the full picture of a condition and used examples to illustrate it. She explained the heart medication my friend was taking and why it was important, which we had not known because no other doctor had mentioned it. She listened closely to my concerns and genuinely wanted to help improve my quality of life and reduce my pain. She developed a treatment plan on the spot, explained the reasoning behind it, and asked me to send her the relevant information for review. If all goes well, we can develop a new medication plan to reduce the side effects. I highly recommend her as a cardiologist.

Terrible billing department Extremely unprofessional and completely incompetent Before your appointment, carefully verify your insurance and make sure your doctor's office has accurate information and an itemized list of charges. A terrible healthcare experience. The local and outside billing staff are both extremely incompetent. Never in my life have I been so frustrated and harassed because of errors by the Tufts Medical Center billing department. Endless phone calls Endless emails Even though it was their mistake! As a patient, having to pay for a service that should have been fully covered was an agonizing experience. If I do not pay, they will ruin my credit. Great job, Tufts!

I delivered my baby by C-section at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, and the entire experience was smooth and wonderful. I received exceptional care from start to finish. Special thanks to my nurses—Francesca, Katherine, Mary, and Safia—who were truly amazing. They were kind and attentive and always made sure I felt comfortable and reassured. Their support, especially during postpartum recovery, meant so much to me. They checked on me often, patiently answered every question, and made me feel well cared for at every step. I am sincerely grateful to the entire team for their care and professionalism. Thank you for making such an important moment in my life a positive and reassuring experience.

The neurology clinic is wonderful!

I had a professional and reassuring experience at Tufts Medical Center because it combines the expertise of a world-class academic institution with the welcoming feel of a community hospital. Located in the heart of Boston's Chinatown and Theater District, it is the principal teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine. I especially value its renowned Floating Hospital for Children and its leadership in complex fields such as cardiology and neurosurgery.

They were extremely rude.

Tufts Medical Center is excellent, with compassionate and attentive staff.

I recently had surgery. The nurses and technicians on the north side of the fourth floor were wonderful. They were capable, friendly, and considerate. This was my third visit, and every experience has been good. I would name them individually, but I am afraid of leaving someone out.

I was very pleased with the care my mother-in-law received after her fall. The staff were excellent, and the doctors were professional and explained everything clearly. The food was great, and the hospital was clean. Thank you for taking such good care of her.

The layout inside may be a little confusing, but the staff are truly wonderful. You can tell they are busy and have their own work to do, but they never leave you on your own. They do not simply point the way; they walk with you and help you find what you need. I have visited at least five times and received the same attentive service every time. Even at different locations, the service has always been consistently good. It is wonderful to encounter such helpful people 🙏✨

This was probably the worst surgical experience of my life! The pain from the surgery itself was not the reason—it was the postoperative care. They told me I would stay in the hospital for two days for observation, which I understood, but two days became nine. During those nine days, I barely slept and was made to take more medication every few hours, sometimes five pills at once. The medical staff were kind, but every time I tried to sleep, they woke me for medication and then expected me to eat when I had no rest or strength. After the first two days, I was exhausted, had no energy, and could not rest. I did not get one decent night’s sleep during those nine nightmarish days. They kept saying they would transfer me to another facility. I explained that I had left my phone at home and needed it to pay bills that were due, including rent, phone, and electricity. They made no arrangement to help retrieve it. On the ninth day, they said they wanted to transfer me to a place I had never been and needed my consent. I repeatedly explained that my bills were due and I needed my phone to pay them, but they made no effort to help. After so much medication, the little clarity and anger I had left finally came out. I refused and demanded to be discharged because I would not lose my housing or utilities due to their lack of cooperation. They were unhappy but had no choice. I had lived there for nearly six years and would not lose my home. I was not too sedated to understand what was happening. God kept me alert enough to make my position clear. I never want to experience that postoperative-care nightmare again. I was constantly given medication, barely allowed to rest, and left groggy from the drugs, with no energy or sleep. When I refused the transfer, they told me I could get dressed and leave. I left immediately but nearly fell because I was unsteady from all the medication. My neck and back surgery was extremely painful, and by the time they wheeled me outside I could barely stand. I was almost hit by two or three cars while crossing the street, and passersby must have thought I was drunk. I barely made it home and collapsed on the sofa in severe pain, exhausted, sleepy, and with no appetite. I could not even get my phone out to pay the bills until the next day because I needed to be alert enough to call. I also developed acute laryngitis, possibly from all the injected medication. I could barely hear myself speak, even in a whisper. Lying on the sofa, I thanked God that I had made it home and survived the nightmare. I do not know whether postoperative care is like this at other Boston hospitals, but if it is, I will not go. To Tufts Medical Center: even if my life depends on it, I will never have surgery there again—not because of the surgery itself, but because the postoperative care was a complete nightmare. I swear I will never go through that again! 😠

Although the Tufts medical team has always been excellent, it is impossible to reach anyone for appointments. I have called several times and left messages on MyChart, but no one has responded. I have ongoing health problems that seriously affect my quality of life, and it is extremely frustrating to receive no response no matter how many times I reach out.

This hospital's discriminatory practices are outrageous. I went to the ER for a throat problem. Why did the doctor ask me, "Do you use meth?" (I did not even know what that was until he said it was cocaine.) Dr. Michael Murphy needs to reevaluate his approach. I described my symptoms to the emergency staff, who examined my throat and agreed it was discolored—not red, but black or bruised-looking—yet Dr. Murphy completely ignored this. They treat patients like criminals, forcing them to undergo searches and have their bags inspected, which is probably why no one comes here. Yes, I am glad I received care, but my visit lasted only one hour. The diagnosis on my discharge papers was completely different from the doctor's diagnosis. This was absolutely unprofessional. I was there for about two hours, left with ibuprofen, and lost confidence in the people who are able to help Boston residents. I am extremely disappointed and will never return.

Stayed in Pratt 2 for the first time in November. It was the first time I was allowed to use my phone, and while I felt like it was a distraction, it did make me feel less sheltered while I was on the unit. I loved all the OTs on the unit as well as the nurses and MHCs. Adrian was the nurse that I felt supported by the most. He always checked in with me and worked to advocate for me. Dottie is also amazing, advocating for me and also joking around with me. I do wish their vegetarian menu had the vegan options highlighted, as I wound up quitting my diet for a while before starting it again. I do wish more fresh air breaks could be implemented, and I also did not like that we had to shower in the hallway (curtain closed, door partially open so staff could watch the filter ?) and timed for 15 mins. Granted, the unit showers weren't fixed but it still felt anxiety inducing trying to rush my showers. Sometimes, it would take a while before I could get a shower as well. Discharge planning was also poor. The social worker I had did not make me sign releases and went by my file, so she called the wrong therapist multiple times and was weary to share information to my Community Care Partner through Vinfen even when I consented. I was also told by my dr and social worker that they would help me find DBT and ERP and that never materialized. Nor did they ever ask me if I wanted to do a partial. The resident psychiatrists rotating every four weeks bothered me, as I got used to one group and then had to start over with another. Some of the patients also rubbed me the wrong way, but I was able to cope. Overall, I would come back here!

I had the worst experience with Dr. Alison Callahan at Tufts medical center main campus 750 Washington street Boston, Ma. I came in initially for a consultation for a very small procedure for my eye. During, initial consultation she checked my eye and said she could do the procedure. However, she deliberately didn’t tell me that on the day of surgery, I would be in the room with eight or more students. Note, I’ve had this procedure done at another well known hospital; it’s a small lower lid eye lift. It only needs a doctor and assistant. I would have declined at the consultation if I knew students would be there. On the day of the procedure, the students were impersonal and cold. Alarmed by the ill treatment, I spoke to an older nurse about my concerns. She was shocked that the doctor hadn’t gotten my consent. She was the only one that seemed to empathize with me. It was a spectacle that day. I felt like a lab rat. When I spoke to Dr. Callahan about my concerns, she became defensive and arrogant saying, I could leave. I answered; it’s my right to make an informed health care decision. I had to remind her that patients have rights. I reported this to her supervisor. Note: The hospital sent me a billing statement for $12,000 (I’m sure part of it was for the facility and the students) had I gone along with the procedure. I took a consultation with a private double board plastic surgeon and the procedure came up to $800. This is the healthcare system.

My husband was admitted to North 7 on October 7. Our assigned nurse, Rachel, was rude and arrogant. I heard her discuss other patients' conditions so clearly that everyone in the hallway could hear. I hope she did not violate HIPAA. She also failed to clean my father's PICC line with alcohol before drawing blood. Be careful with her; she wears glasses and is named Rachel K.

Zero communication, zero help on info from secretaries they bounce around calls til u give up, doctor can't n tell if a bone is broken when it's not, also was told l would not be allowed entry with service dog by front desk.

When I was in severe pain from uterine fibroids, I was treated like a drug seeker. Dr. Drew in nephrology was the worst; he treated me as less than human and refused to discuss my care. If you want good patient care from decent doctors, do not come here. They will call security to harass you and escalate matters until they can remove you. Tufts does better.

The appointment process was very smooth. The staff was warm and sincere, helping us find the right doctor and schedule a visit. I sincerely appreciate their help.
