Unless you’ve gone through fertility struggles, it can be hard to understand how challenging the experience can be.  Drs. Kevin and Kathleen Doody, the husband-and-wife co-founders of CARE Fertility, and have firsthand experience with infertility, so they can relate to families in Bedford and Fort Worth, Texas, who are struggling to conceive.  Since 1989, the team at CARE Fertility has shared dedication to serving as pioneers in the field of advanced fertility care. They put substantial time and effort into researching tools and techniques to help patients add to their families.  The practice also offers effortless IVF ™, a revolutionary treatment designed by the founders.   Established as the first fertility clinic in North Texas, CARE Fertility has added an impressive list of other firsts as well.  Among them are developing a local egg donation program; using intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI); birth of the first baby through ICSI in North Texas; preimplantation genetic testing locally; routine use of blastocyst cultures in the United States; embryo cryopreservation; and first in the world to establish extended embryo culture with intravaginal culture.  Innovation never ends, and the team of reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialists at CARE Fertility are constantly searching for ways to expand and enhance their services.  Technical expertise is a given, but these practitioners also mentor the next generation of fertility care professionals and engage in clinical research and publication.  CARE Fertility limits the number of patients at any given time. This ensures that each patient receives personalized, compassionate, and unrushed care as they navigate their path toward parenthood. The staff gets to know each and every patient and their unique set of challenges.  Affordability is always part of the conversation in fertility care, and the team at CARE Fertility strives to support patients emotionally and financially. Content warning: miscarriage I write this with a heavy heart because no one should feel as helpless and abandoned as I did at the most vulnerable time in their life. I underwent IVF through CARE Fertility. My embryo transfer succeeded, and I remained under their care until 9 weeks and 5 days without complications. They then said I had “graduated” and should see an OB-GYN. The earliest OB-GYN appointment was three weeks away. I trusted that this would be fine because my condition had been stable. Eight days before the appointment, I developed severe vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain. The emergency department evaluated and discharged me with instructions to see an OB-GYN within two days, but the clinic could not move my appointment. Terrified, I contacted Dr. Thomas at CARE Fertility, explained everything, and asked whether they could evaluate me while I waited. Their response was devastating. They said they could not see me because I had “graduated.” I explained again that I had complications and nowhere else to go, but the answer remained no. After everything I had been through and the trust I placed in them, I felt completely abandoned when I needed help most. My symptoms worsened, and two days later I returned to the emergency department. Again, I was told to see an OB-GYN. I explained that the appointment was still days away and my fertility doctor refused to see me despite knowing my situation. Nothing changed. The day before my OB-GYN appointment, I miscarried. I immediately informed CARE Fertility. Their answer was unchanged: because I had “graduated,” I needed to see my OB-GYN. With nowhere else to turn, I visited the emergency department for the third time that week, where the miscarriage was confirmed. This experience devastated me. Their lack of compassion, rigid refusal to help, and belief that I was no longer their responsibility after “graduation” left me feeling abandoned. I share this to warn others. If you pursue IVF here, arrange an OB-GYN appointment immediately after “graduation,” ideally the next day. If a problem occurs before that appointment, you may find yourself without support. No patient should feel this alone.

Everyone was wonderful. Dr. Thomas clearly explained the treatment steps and risks for patients my age. She gave me time to consider the options and provided attentive care during every procedure. The skilled staff were compassionate when my first few treatments were painful. My treatment at CARE was very successful. Thank you!

I saw Dr. Katie Doody while changing insurance before surgery during the first week of the new year. I repeatedly called to ask whether they accepted my out-of-state insurance and what testing would cost, but calls were transferred endlessly and nobody seemed coordinated. After my results, I scheduled treatment planning, but my questions were dismissed. When I asked why we could not use medication that had worked before, they said only, 'It is off-label, so I do not like it,' without a sound explanation. It felt like a fixed protocol they would not change even for a patient's benefit. I also needed genetic screening. Their partner company did not accept my insurance, while another did, but they refused to send the order elsewhere because of a contract. That did not put the patient first. Another clinic offered a far better, individualized experience instead of pushing costlier treatment. CARE's recommended IUI also cost twice as much as at my current clinic. Overall, my treatment felt inadequate and impersonal.

I would give Dr. Thomas five stars because she is an excellent doctor, but overall this clinic has completely lost my trust. I have no confidence in them. It took weeks to schedule the initial consultation. At my first visit, I waited more than an hour to see the doctor while the front desk staff discussed other patients. Before the procedure, I was placed in a conference room. Later, I wanted information about a second frozen embryo transfer; this was my first transfer at this clinic. I could not reach the billing department. I left several voicemails, and the front desk transferred me there every time I called. I finally reached an administrator in the embryology lab. She was very kind and assured me she would take care of everything and contact someone in billing. I assume that person may have been at lunch. As expected, I received no response. It has now been six weeks since my first inquiry. As someone who has undergone IVF before, I have completely lost confidence in this clinic. Dr. Thomas is excellent, but her team is the reason I will not pursue a second IVF treatment here. I am very grateful for my miracle baby, but I will not risk losing my remaining embryos because of their lack of care.

I had a wonderful experience with donor-sperm IUI. Dr. Thomas and the entire team were outstanding. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Katie Doody and the nurse who performed the procedure; both were thoughtful and knowledgeable. I am expecting a beautiful baby this summer after succeeding on the first attempt. As a single mother by choice, I found the environment welcoming and free of judgment. Highly recommended!

Our experience was amazing and truly life-changing! Dr. Thomas and her team are kind, positive, supportive, and knowledgeable—exactly what you need during such an emotionally, physically, and mentally challenging time. We always felt cared for, informed, and confident that we were receiving the best care. We trust Dr. Thomas and her team completely and cannot express how grateful we are!

After nearly three years of trying to conceive, Dr. Thomas and her team made our dream come true. We are deeply grateful to every doctor, nurse, and staff member who helped us along the way. The experience was amazing and exceeded all our expectations.

Dr. Thomas and the entire CARE staff were excellent throughout our fertility journey. I could clearly feel how much they cared about me, and they did everything possible to help us conceive. They answered every question and arranged additional appointments when needed.

Our IVF experience was excellent. Dr. Kevin Doody was our primary physician, and he and his team were wonderful. The nurses were very attentive. By transferring one embryo, they gave us beautiful twin daughters!

Update: Nicole called me back, and she was extremely unpleasant. She answered none of my questions and only said she would email the results. She never offered to have anyone at the clinic review them with me. These people are terrible, and I regret ever entering this clinic. I learned more about my hormones and cycle using Inito than I did here. Stay away and keep looking!!! This was my second fertility clinic. The first was good, but something felt missing, so we came here for a second opinion based on recommendations. My husband thought the initial call from TC was fine; I never spoke with anyone. They scheduled us quickly, and then the ‘assignments’ began. We both had to watch videos and take quizzes about fertility care, even though we had already completed three rounds of treatment. They then pressured us to pay several days early. When I called, the office transferred me to Billing, which did not answer. It took three calls to learn what I was paying for. Within 24 hours, we owed three copays. The doctor call was ordinary, and they seem to prey on vulnerability. The next day we had testing and scans. I was told they would test my hormones, thyroid, and everything else, but they only performed standard bloodwork that a primary-care doctor would order. They then requested hysteroscopy because of my history of polyps. In less than a day, they wanted another $1,800. My blood-test results were available a week ago, but no one called. I also kept receiving assignments. This place is disorganized, overpriced, and entirely focused on money. We will seek treatment elsewhere. Stay away.

I truly wanted to see Dr. Thomas. I called three times to schedule, but no one returned my calls. On the third call, I explained that no one had called me back. They did not care and simply transferred me to the scheduling voicemail. If they cannot provide this most basic service, why would I give them my money and trust them with my fertility care?

We had to pay more than $200 to speak with a PA just to review information we had provided by email. When we asked the PA very general questions, the response was, ‘Only the doctor can tell you.’ Before a doctor would speak with me, they then wanted me to pay more than $500 for labs. In total, including the testing that brought us here, we would spend more than $1,000 before speaking with a doctor—even after insurance, because most tests performed here do not accept insurance. That was only for the husband's side. My wife canceled her appointment, so I am unsure about the costs for women. This place is a money grab. 0/10 recommend.

On my OB's recommendation, I switched from a highly recommended and popular RE in the area to Dr. Nackley, who is also well known locally. I am also a member of the Fashion Week women's group and have recommended her there many times. I am extremely grateful for the care from Dr. Nackley and her staff. They are efficient, practical, and compassionate. Dr. Nackley gives me room to ask questions, raise concerns, and truly listens! Recently, I had an egg retrieval on the day of an ice storm and was very worried something would prevent the office from opening. The entire staff assured me they would be there regardless. On retrieval day, despite the wild weather and stress, they arrived smiling and went to work. It was like watching a well-oiled machine. Dr. Kevin Doody performed my retrieval and was excellent and helpful. I also spoke several times with on-call physician Dr. Katie Doody, who responded very quickly and was extremely supportive! Many people seem to expect an RE to have every answer and resolve their infertility journey immediately, but patients should also take time to understand the process. As noted, I was treated for a year by a very popular doctor who ultimately missed a major warning sign that quickly became life-threatening. Although I know mistakes happen and no one is perfect, the way CARE's doctors, PAs, and nurses operate gives me confidence in their decisions, recommendations, and support! Fertility is a marathon, not a sprint! Thank you, CARE!

Dr. Thomas has been a blessing to my family. We have just begun trying for another child, and she keeps us informed at every step.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Thomas and her MA, Marisol. From day one, they were eager to work with me. They were highly informative and had excellent bedside manner. They listened to my concerns and answered every question. The staff were friendly and helpful and showed me so much compassion. I would absolutely recommend CARE Fertility to close friends and family.

The biggest waste of money of my adult life. Operationally, they are a complete joke. We had to send documents repeatedly to the Keller and Fort Worth locations. Dr. Thomas was 35 minutes late to my wife's online consultation, Vanessa B ignored my emails, my voicemail was never returned, and I was hung up on when asking about billing. Clinically, they insisted we needed IUI. Two months later, my wife and I conceived naturally. Glory to God. The final insult was that, although we were self-pay patients, we received a $1,000 bill no one had warned us about. Stay away.

My experience with this practice was not good. I did not feel that they cared about me or my needs, and the office had no communication. I even heard them mishandling another patient's appointment in the waiting room. My husband and I clearly stated that I have severe anxiety and only feel comfortable with female doctors. I had the option of pain medication for one procedure and said I definitely needed it because procedures are always painful for me. My husband lost the prescription. I called every day for a week but could not get a replacement, so because of their incompetence I had to undergo a painful procedure without medication. When I arrived, they had assigned a male provider despite our repeated instructions. This was already a stressful, frustrating time, and they made it worse. The final consultation merely reviewed tests from 4 weeks earlier that we had already discussed. I asked the owner/doctor about a new medication to ensure it was appropriate for our fertility plans, but they did not know the answer. My primary care doctor said it was fine, but the fertility provider should know. Many things went wrong, and consultations were always virtual; I prefer seeing my doctor face to face. The lack of personal service and communication is why I chose another doctor.

Some of the negative reviews are absurd and seem driven by personal bias rather than an objective assessment. Throughout our fertility journey, this practice was flexible, inclusive, knowledgeable, and patient with my wife and me. After spending over $100,000 on IVF, we left another prominent fertility clinic in Fort Worth. Following more thorough discussions and testing with CARE—not just, ‘It didn't work this time; let's reload’—we became pregnant on our first IUI cycle and are due in September. The doctors and nurses were kind but did not pretend to be our friends. They did not coddle us or try to spare our feelings; they gave us scientifically grounded feedback. Fertility is sensitive, but after more than 5 miscarriages, you do not want protection—you need answers and actionable information. We had already tried the Creighton Model, ovarian wedge resection, and every diet that might help us bring a child into the world. CARE was the first clinic to make that dream possible. I cannot praise our experience at this practice enough, especially when fertility clinics often seem to offer only spending more money and hoping something changes.
