After several failed intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles at a well-known fertility clinic in Newport Beach, I felt discouraged, physically and emotionally exhausted, and financially strained. During those months, I saw the doctor only twice: once in a virtual consultation and once at my final appointment. The doctor did not recommend IVF until after multiple failed IUI cycles, leaving me wishing I had received more personalized guidance sooner. In search of a more supportive, transparent, and patient-centered clinic, I began exploring other options. That was when I found Ember Fertility, and from my first appointment, I knew I had found something different. My coordinator, Sherri, welcomed me warmly and immediately put me at ease. Dr. Freije was compassionate and honest and gave me a realistic assessment of my chances of conceiving with my own eggs. As a 44-year-old woman with a low chance of conception, I greatly appreciated his direct approach and willingness to make sure I clearly understood every option. Despite the low odds of success, I decided to try IVF with my own eggs. Dr. Freije and his team were outstanding throughout the process. I saw Dr. Freije himself at every appointment, which made me feel valued and cared for. The staff did their best to accommodate my schedule, and the nurses were exceptionally responsive. They always answered my questions within 24 hours and took extra time to guide me through my first injection. Their patience, kindness, and dedication made this challenging journey much easier. I was fortunate to have one embryo successfully implant, and I am now happily pregnant. When my pregnancy was confirmed, the entire team celebrated with me. Dr. Frije and his care team are wonderful. The clinic staff are always courteous, and the doctor is consistently friendly, professional, and reassuring. They provide personalized care, send weekly updates and instructions by email, answer any questions at any time, and even provide video guidance for injections. One of my coordinators also sent me flowers, which made me feel cared for and supported. 10/10

This was my first experience with this clinic and Dr. Frije. I am a surrogate, and honestly, I expected the process to be more complicated or even very stressful, but they made everything so easy. Dr. Frije is an excellent doctor who is respectful and highly professional. He stays attentive throughout the process, genuinely cares about his patients, and makes sure everything goes smoothly. I have been working with ember fertility for my surrogacy and everything has been quick, efficient, and supportive. Provider freije is great and very knowledgeable at everything he does! I remember that a few months after beginning my surrogacy journey, I was told I needed to travel to California for testing. Honestly, I was nervous about flying alone, but also excited to see California. My program coordinator, Becky, was wonderful. She welcomed me warmly and answered all my questions in detail. I felt nervous being alone in another state, but the team made me feel calm. Everyone was kind, and the environment was quiet and clean. The next time I flew back to California, I stayed a few more days and had my embryo transfer. I was very excited. You hear many stories about unsuccessful IVF, and I felt anxious and worried about my transfer. However, I felt that the team knew what they were doing and took it seriously. After the transfer, I returned home. About a week later, my pregnancy was confirmed. I was very happy that this clinic was part of my first successful IVF pregnancy. I am now 6 months pregnant. They are the best team of nurses and doctors. I would definitely recommend this fertility clinic to my friends and family. The trip to California was worth it. California itself is beautiful, and their care made the experience even better. Thanks to their excellent service, I now have a strong baby. Ember Fertility treated me very well. ❤️

Ember Fertility was a wonderful clinic for my partner and me. We decided to have a child in early 2024, and when we began our IVF journey in month 5, the process was streamlined. She had her first positive test after the first embryo transfer. I am very grateful for the personalized treatment Dr. Freije provided my wife. His approach made it easy for me to trust him during treatment. He is optimistic but realistic and will not transfer an embryo if he believes your body is not ready. I think this is important because some doctors will simply ‘see what happens’ and may waste your time. In addition, Shirley warmly greeted us and spoke with us each time we entered the office. She was very welcoming and communicative. She also gave us educational resources and papers to review so we could learn more. As the partner of someone who successfully underwent IVF, I highly recommend Ember Fertility. My only advice is to make sure you ask questions. Do not be afraid to speak up and request more information. As patients, we sometimes forget the agency we have over our own bodies. It is important to remind yourself that you have every right to know what is happening with your body and embryos.

My wife and I are so thankful for everything the team at Ember Fertility has done for us! We are both first-time mothers and chose IVF because of potentially blocked fallopian tubes. Going into this journey, we hoped to find a clinic that would support us as a multicultural couple and members of the LGBTQ+ community. From the beginning, we felt very supported and encouraged by all the clinic staff. Sherrie was our patient care coordinator and was absolutely phenomenal to have on our team! She treated us like family, was always available to answer our questions or concerns, and connected us with our doctor when needed. Dr. Freije is amazing at what he does. He always took time to explain every part of the IVF process and genetic testing so we could make the best-informed decisions for our family. He was very thorough and provided individualized care specific to me as the patient. It is very important to remain empowered to advocate for yourself and never be afraid to ask questions. After our egg retrieval, we had questions about the quality and quantity of our eggs/embryos, but unfortunately we were never able to meet with the embryologist to address these concerns. Dr. Freije reassured us that the quality and quantity of the embryos we created would allow us to have the complete family size we had said we wanted. NP Wei was also an excellent point of contact and source of support throughout the process, ensuring we received updated care and medication instructions. Our phlebotomist Gen always drew my blood on the first attempt and made it as painless as possible! The entire care team at Ember Fertility was compassionate, gentle, and patient with us throughout our journey. Our first embryo transfer was successful, and we are now expecting our first baby this summer! I recommend Ember Fertility to everyone I know who is seeking support from a knowledgeable medical team. We are so happy we found them!

A costly mistake! Think twice before choosing Ember Fertility! I do not usually write reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about my experience with Ember Fertility. I began the process full of hope, but it became one of the most frustrating and exhausting experiences of my life. I paid tens of thousands of dollars for IVF treatment, believing I had made the right choice. At first everything seemed promising, until it was not. None of my embryos survived, and the clinic offered no clear explanation of what went wrong. Whenever I asked for more details, I received vague responses and felt completely uninformed. The refund process was even worse. I was initially told I qualified, but when I requested formal details explaining how my refund was calculated, I received only excuses and delays. They never provided a formal refund policy or proper documentation, just an arbitrary amount with no clear rationale. At this point, I do not even know whether the calculation is fair or whether they simply chose an amount and expect me to accept it. If they operate transparently, why can they not provide simple documentation supporting their position? 🛑 If you are considering Ember Fertility, do your research. Get every financial detail in writing before paying. Do not assume policies will be explained later. Ask them directly about their refund policy. If they hesitate to provide clear terms upfront, that is a warning sign. Be prepared to pursue answers. If something goes wrong, do not expect quick or clear communication. I hope no one experiences what I did. Fertility treatment is difficult enough; uncertainty and financial opacity should not be part of the process.

Ember Fertility is absolutely the best clinic in California. The staff are professional, kind, and trustworthy and truly make you feel like family. I completed an embryo transfer and am deeply grateful to Ember and its staff for this life-changing experience that I will never forget. Thank you sincerely to the doctor and his staff.

They treat you with great respect and care, which I truly appreciated. The doctors connect with you and remember your face/name, so it never feels transactional. I am deeply grateful for my EFC family. Two rounds of IVF were challenging, especially because the first produced only one embryo. Since we dream of having at least two children and had to consider my age, we decided on another retrieval. My case manager, Sherrie, was a constant source of support. Her encouragement brought comfort and hope during my hardest moments. She tirelessly answered questions about medication, scheduling, and procedures and always checked with Dr. Freiji and nurse Wei to ensure I had the clarity I needed. Gen and Wei were also my angels, accommodating my requests and reassuring me at every step. Their kindness and dedication truly touched me. Choosing Ember was honestly one of my best decisions. The care and compassion here far exceeded my previous clinic, and I am very grateful to be part of this wonderful community.

I did not choose this clinic because patient coordinator Sherrie B. was unprofessional and incompetent. First, she spammed my inbox with several separate emails, and the second time we spoke, she confused my name. Worst of all, less than 5 minutes into our conversation, when I asked about the clinic's experience, she raised her voice and said she did not know the estimated number of egg-freezing cycles performed each year. She said that when people only call rather than schedule a consultation, they cannot provide information. I asked whether she could obtain the information from someone else before the $299 consultation, and she clearly said no, Dr. Freije would not provide it before the consultation. I told Sherrie that under those circumstances I would use another clinic, and she abruptly hung up. I am unsure whether Sherrie was simply having a bad day or is always like this—the latter seems more likely because an early Yelp review is also about her. For what it is worth, clients need to know your level of experience before committing. Rudely refusing such basic information suggests either a questionable laboratory or a need for a better patient coordinator who understands basic communication.

I am so happy today! After three years of searching and treatment, I finally received good news: I am having a baby! I am deeply grateful to Dr. Freije, the coordinators, and the medical team for supporting me through countless anxious days. Only when I received April's pregnancy-test result could I finally relax. EFC created a fertility plan for me covering preparation and stimulation. Looking at the schedule showed me what to do each day and greatly reduced my anxiety. It is no exaggeration to say EFC's service surpasses most in the field. I tried not to contact them after work or late at night, but sometimes I could not help it. Everyone understood. Whenever I asked a question in the group, someone soon answered and reassured me. I sincerely thank EFC for helping make my wish come true. Thank you, Dr. Freije and every EFC team member!
