Professional Experience

Dr. Salem graduated from the USC School of Medicine and earned a PhD in neuroendocrinology from UCLA. He received two National Institutes of Health fellowships in neuroendocrinology and conducted groundbreaking research that helped identify the mechanisms of certain steroid hormones.

Dr. Salem has published numerous scientific research articles in leading national and international fertility journals. This research has helped advance the understanding and treatment of infertility.

Practice: Dr. Salem gained extensive clinical experience in infertility and microsurgery at institutions including the University of British Columbia, Stanford University, the San Francisco Microsurgical Institute, and Pacific Fertility Center San Francisco. He also served for six years as medical director and a co-founder of Pacific Fertility Center in Torrance. He holds master's degrees in biochemistry and physiology. The best experience ever! Before going to Reproductive Fertility Center, I saw another fertility doctor and left feeling defeated and alone. I am so grateful I found Reproductive Fertility. Their staff are truly wonderful and helpful!!!! I am expecting my first child in March 2025! None of this would have been possible without them!!!!

This company's office staff are, at best, extremely unprofessional and lack the experience or skills to communicate with someone by phone and answer questions. At worst, they are disrespectful and rude. Management appears to step in when staff are unable or lack the ability to resolve an issue, but is equally poor, if not worse. If communication fails, there is not even a way to determine how bad or good the service is.

The staff were very friendly. I worked with Dr. Salem but saw her only about 3 times. I handled everything with my coordinator, Michelle. Everything went smoothly until my first failed cycle. Then they were no longer available and did not communicate as they had before. I had to follow up constantly, and they made promises they did not keep. I had a second transfer without success. Dr. Salem said she would have Michelle call me about further testing, but I never received a call. I had to email Michelle to tell her what Dr. Salem said would happen, but nothing happened. I should have recognized the warning sign earlier when Dr. Salem told Michelle to send me a list of supplements to begin taking. I never received it. Michelle merely said to take a prenatal vitamin for now and that she would send the list later, but no list was sent. I felt they had no hope that I would become pregnant, so they gave me many excuses. I had to email Michelle and tell her that I was trying to become pregnant, but their lack of follow-up and communication was making it difficult. Six months have now passed, and there has still been no follow-up.

After three devastating miscarriages, undergoing IVF again was one of the hardest experiences we have faced emotionally, physically, and mentally. Having Dr. Sarah beside us made all the difference. Dr. Sarah is not only highly knowledgeable and skilled in her field but also deeply caring and compassionate. She never rushed appointments and always took time to listen carefully to our concerns and emotions. With her, we never felt like an ordinary case. She treated us like family and handled our weathered hearts with care. She guided us through every step with kindness, understanding, and empathy. During moments of fear and uncertainty, her calm presence and genuine care gave us hope and comfort. The office staff are helpful and pleasant, but nothing exceptional. I completed fertility testing here and planned to begin IVF using my insurance. I had even worked very hard to obtain fertility coverage through my employer, and this was the first clinic I considered—a waste of time. Dr. Salem was not helpful, and I believe she was dishonest. I already knew I had a 4 cm fibroid on the outside of my uterus. Dr. Salem performed an ultrasound in May to examine my ovaries. She looked very quickly and incorrectly told me my right ovary could not be seen on ultrasound and therefore could not be used for egg retrieval. I have had many ultrasounds since developing the fibroid and was never told an ovary was not visible. Unlike previous doctors, she did not try adjusting the probe angle or repositioning my pelvis to view the right ovary. My insurance covers two retrievals, and I cannot help feeling that she wanted to exploit that benefit, hoping I would need two retrievals because I was “limited” to one ovary. I then sought a second opinion from Dr. Rosencranz at Reproductive Health and Wellness Center in Laguna Hills. Two weeks ago, he performed an ultrasound and said both ovaries were clearly visible and accessible for retrieval, and he counted follicles on both. He said the previous opinion reflected either inexperience or potentially predatory motives. Either way, I do not want such a doctor “helping” with my IVF journey. Infertility and a miscarriage have already caused my husband and me tremendous stress. Waiting three weeks for a second opinion while believing I could not use both ovaries was very difficult and upsetting. I am extremely dissatisfied with Dr. Salem's negligence and pray she does not mislead other patients who may know less about their bodies or be less able to recognize deception. Also, the price for embryo PGT is outrageous: up to $5,000, while other clinics charge $400 to $800 per embryo. I absolutely do not recommend this clinic. Go to Dr. Marcus Rosencranz in Laguna Hills. He is more experienced and charges more reasonable fees.

No. If you truly want to become pregnant, find a better doctor quickly. This clinic is not suitable for patients with recurrent miscarriage because she does not know how to identify the root cause. She constantly pushes IVF and frightens you about your low AMH. Do not have an antral follicle count ultrasound here—I repeat, do not. She will give you an incorrect or low count. She spends only 5–6 minutes on the ultrasound, yet you pay $300 😂.

I would never give her even one star. I wasted my time and money. Many other fertility clinics care about you and do not make you waste money. I wasted money on an ultrasound—she charged me but spent only 5–6 minutes performing it. Another fertility specialist found the root cause. Dr. Salem constantly insists on IVF. She gives you the wrong follicle count and frightens you into thinking you cannot conceive naturally. The coordinator Michelle was also very slow and took a month to respond. Thank God they changed coordinators, but they need to change the doctor too. Please do not waste your money and time here. Both matter during your fertility journey.

If you are looking for doctors and clinical staff who truly care about you and your baby, this is the place. Dr. Shala is amazing. She never gave up on me and always told me the truth rather than simply what I wanted to hear. I am a nurse myself, and I must say that Dr. Shala's ethics are exceptional; she genuinely cares about her patients! Nurse Daysy goes above and beyond. She calms my anxiety and always responds with understanding, even when I call feeling nervous. Daysy fully understands how I feel and the difficulties of living with polycystic ovary syndrome. She is definitely one of the clinic's best nurses. Another favorite nurse is Jennifer, who always makes me laugh and brightens my mornings. If you have been searching for a high-quality fertility clinic and doctor that truly cares, this is the right choice.

I had a terrible experience with Pacific Reproductive Center. I contacted a coordinator to schedule a consultation, but she never responded, so I had to call the main office to reschedule. On the day of the appointment, it felt like ordering at a fast-food drive-through. Dr. Salem was clearly unprepared and obviously wanted to end the consultation as quickly as possible. She ‘reviewed’ my partner's records and said he looked fine. We need fertility treatment because he has certain issues, so that made no sense. I understand they may be busy and have many patients, but if you cannot take the time to speak properly with a prospective patient, do not accept the appointment—except, of course, they make plenty of money. Very disappointing. Do not waste your time or money.

I do not recommend this clinic. I felt that Dr. Shalam did not truly help me become pregnant outside of IVF, which made the treatment options feel financially motivated rather than patient-centered. I was very disappointed with my overall experience with the clinic staff and care team. Communication was poor, follow-up was lacking, and staff sometimes seemed cold and insensitive. When I raised concerns, they even asked whether I had considered changing clinics, which felt unwelcoming and inappropriate. I became pregnant through intrauterine insemination (IUI), and I clearly stated that my main issue was maintaining a pregnancy, not becoming pregnant. Despite this, the clinic did not proactively offer additional support or medication. I had to advocate for progesterone, and even then the prescription was delayed. My hormone levels, including luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone, human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), were not monitored as they should have been. She also did not clearly explain the follicle count on my ultrasound, so I had to call the next day with more questions. When I requested progesterone injections, I waited over a week for a response—and ultimately never received the medication. Likewise, when I requested access to my medical records, it took repeated follow-ups before access was granted. I had been a patient at this clinic since November 2025 and experienced a missed miscarriage, followed by only one ultrasound. The lack of follow-up care during such a difficult time was extremely frustrating. Overall, I felt I had to continually advocate for treatment and that my care would not be prioritized unless I actively followed up. I regret not leaving sooner. If you are considering fertility treatment, I strongly recommend looking at other clinics.

Their disregard for our time was extremely disappointing. My husband and I arrived on time but waited an hour before being called for our consultation. We wasted valuable time that we could have used for errands, and by the time the doctor saw us, the day was nearly over. This was the worst customer service we have ever experienced, and I will never return to this clinic. Many other IVF clinics offer far better customer service and attitudes.

Unfortunately, my experience at Pacific Reproductive Center was terrible, even though some friends recommended it. They were extremely disappointed by the treatment I received there. One of the biggest problems I encountered was poor communication and a lack of professionalism, especially from my coordinator, Jennifer. Regarding my leave request paperwork, I was repeatedly told it would be sent, but there was a different excuse every day. Timely communication is essential during fertility treatment, especially while managing work arrangements and recurrent miscarriages, yet I consistently felt ignored and unsupported. I also found inaccurate information in my February medical records. On February 12, I texted about a faint positive pregnancy test 14 days after my IUI because I later began spotting and had a history of miscarriage, including chemical pregnancy. However, the record states that I “called” on February 20, which I did not. It also states that I checked the test several hours later and that it was “most likely an evaporation line.” This information is incorrect. The faint positive appeared within minutes of testing, and spotting began later that evening. Inaccurate medical records during infertility treatment are extremely concerning. As the problems escalated, I repeatedly asked to speak directly with Dr. Shala to address the issues with my coordinator, but I never received a response. I often felt my concerns were not handled appropriately. Several times, when I tried to report my concerns about Jennifer to other staff, they simply transferred me back to Jennifer herself rather than to a supervisor or doctor. In addition, despite multiple follow-up emails, my medical records were withheld for nearly two months, and many emails went unanswered. I ultimately filed a complaint through my insurance company and requested further investigation of my experience and the handling of my records request. Shortly after formally reporting the staff member's conduct and communication problems, I began receiving notifications that my coordinator had viewed my TikTok profile, even though I was not connected to her through any social media account. As a patient, I found this highly inappropriate and unprofessional, so I saved screenshots of the multiple notifications I received that month as evidence. Infertility treatment is already physically and emotionally exhausting. Patients deserve accurate medical records, professional service, transparent and timely communication, and to feel heard when they raise concerns. Unfortunately, I did not receive those things here, even though they could save you time and money.

My OB-GYN referred me to this clinic for further evaluation of severe bleeding and irregular periods that had persisted for nearly a month and a half. At first, everyone seemed sincere. When I spoke with Dr. Salem, she showed concern and took the time to understand my situation. We then had lab tests done. I thought this clinic would be better. After that, everything went downhill, and Jennifer never communicated with me. She told me to upload the results to the app or email them to her, and I did both just in case. Then what? I kept calling, emailing, and leaving messages, but received no reply. There was no response from her either. I felt ignored and became increasingly frustrated. My appointment was in March. Nothing progressed. Jennifer never returned my call. It is now June. I am tired of waiting, calling, and emailing. I have decided to find another clinic and see if I can obtain an appropriate referral. A warning to couples like my husband and me who are on a long fertility journey: do not be misled by the doctors' reassuring words at the initial visit when they say they will help us. In the end, they wasted our time, energy, and money. I recommend choosing another clinic with better reviews and greater reliability. I regret not reading the reviews carefully before making an appointment. I suggest that the clinic improve its staff's communication and time-management skills. It would be best to hire more staff to support the clinic and improve the quality of service.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this clinic. I initially went there to freeze my eggs, but after months of delays and poor communication, I decided to discontinue treatment. The doctor lacked empathy and was dismissive of my concerns, and I never felt valued. They even made me drive from Irvine to Corona over the long Christmas weekend, adding needless stress to an already difficult process. Most frustrating of all, it took nearly five months just to receive basic lab results. Egg freezing is a highly time-sensitive process, and such a long wait is completely unacceptable. Communication was poor throughout, and I often felt that no one was taking responsibility or giving me clear answers.

I cannot praise this fertility clinic enough. From the moment we entered, we felt kindness, professionalism, and unwavering hope. Every staff member, from the front desk team and coordinators to the doctors, went above and beyond to make us feel valued, heard, and cared for. Letty handled our finances and always greeted us with a friendly smile and supported us at every step. Dr. Salem is highly knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate and explained every step of the process. Our coordinator, Daysy, was extremely helpful with anything I needed or any questions I had. She communicated clearly, responded promptly, and always ensured we felt supported through every stage of treatment. From day one, Daysy made us feel like more than patients; she treated us like family. Her warmth, attention to detail, and extensive knowledge provided great comfort during an extremely difficult time. The environment is also clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed to ease what can be an emotionally difficult journey. What truly stood out was how personalized everything felt. We were not just a number. We felt like partners in our care, which made all the difference. Jenny drew my blood and performed my ultrasounds without rushing and with great care. We are deeply grateful for the care this excellent team provided. If you are looking for a clinic that combines expertise with genuine compassion, this is the place. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone pursuing parenthood. In addition, parking at the clinic across the street is free for two hours! In a county like Los Angeles, that is a major advantage! ;)

I will update this review with more specific details, but my experience with a financial counselor named Letty, or Leticia, was terrible. She made errors in my finances and became defensive when I asked her to correct them. She was rude and sarcastic and even hung up on me. What legitimate organization treats clients this way? Worse, I spent $21,000 and got nothing. My current clinic says this organization's financial operations rank among the worst in the country. I wish I had known before paying out of pocket here. Extremely disappointed.

Dr. Salem is the most extraordinary doctor and person to our whole family! He helped us finally have our daughter, he was kind, listened and most importantly he got results that no other doctor did. I had been to 3 other doctors and had 5 rounds of IVF over years before going to Dr. Salem. In our first meeting her understood my situation better than the other doctors who had seen me for years. He came up with a plan that was different medications than I had taken. We got the best results in our first retrieval and he advised me do a small procedure/test before the transfer. I was hesitant but he listened to my concerns and took time to convince me it was wort it, I’m so glad he did, our first transfer resulted in our daughter. He took care of me for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and I only wish he would have been my OB he whole time. He is one of kind, and I can’t recommend him enough. Especially if you have been through it before and are not seeing results-change your doctor to Dr. Salem. There were a few times I saw his daughter too, she was amazing, very kind and very smart, she saw me for a few visits and helped me a lot! I would listen to his experience and advise always and only wish I went to him sooner. He was the Doctor of my husbands co worker who also had great results with him. Also his clinic was very competitive price wise and helped to make sure we got the most out of our genetic testing costs, the other clinics did not! Our daughter is 4 months old and I think of Dr. Salem every day and bless him ❤️

Dr. Sara is wonderful. She is very honest and direct about everything, which I appreciate—no nonsense. Most of my interactions were with my coordinator, Dayse, who is truly amazing. She was very patient and understanding and responded quickly to my many questions. I know I drove her crazy, but she never made me feel that way. PRC is fortunate to have her. I have not yet had success in my IVF journey, but she is absolutely the reason I remain with them. I cannot praise her dedication and thoughtfulness enough. She was always positive and honest with us. Thank you, Dayse, for your love and support during this journey.

I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at this clinic was deeply disappointing. I initially went there to freeze my eggs, but after months of delays and poor communication, I decided to discontinue treatment. The doctor was cold and dismissive of my concerns. I never felt that I was treated like a patient. Most frustratingly, basic laboratory results took nearly five months. Egg freezing is highly time-sensitive, so such a long wait was unacceptable. Communication was poor throughout, and I often felt that no one was accountable or able to provide a clear answer. Even worse, although I discontinued treatment because of these issues, I continued to receive bills despite the previous delays and extremely poor service.

I had my initial consultation today. Dr. Salem was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable. Honestly, based on the reviews here, I was a little nervous. I contacted Letty several times with insurance questions and to ensure they had everything needed to use the benefits provided by my employer. Letty answered all my questions well, and it was a pleasure to meet her today. I also met Daysi, who helped me plan the next steps and ease my nerves. I understand the negative reviews posted when expected results were not achieved. I can only share my own experience and my hopes as I begin this process with the team. Bonus points for celebrating International Women's Day today and giving flowers to every patient.

Besides the fact that they did not help us become pregnant... 1. Dr. Salem displayed a misogynistic attitude. He interrupted me before I finished asking questions during the consultation. I could tell I must have challenged his ego because he disliked being questioned about what he shared, even though I was only trying to understand and advocate for myself as a patient. I left feeling terrible. 2. Despite sitting down with the financial staff before any treatment to ensure it would be covered by insurance, they sent us a large surprise bill. At one point, Rita tried to charge me $300 for an ultrasound, then later said it was covered by insurance. Tina completely misled me, telling me she had spoken with my insurer and that I would not receive surprises, which was untrue. Communication was terrible, and they essentially deceived us. The only positive was Jessica, whom I believe is a nurse. She was very helpful, kind, and compassionate. She was wonderful.

Unfortunately, based on my experience with Dr. Salem, I cannot recommend this clinic. Our initial consultation gave us great hope, and he made pregnancy seem straightforward. Over time, however, I encountered several issues that left me frustrated and discouraged. I repeatedly had to remind Dr. Salem of my own medical history, which was concerning given the importance of individualized care in fertility treatment. After transferring to a new clinic, it became clear that his approach felt overly standardized rather than tailored to my specific needs. He often gave instructions without detailed explanations or discussion of alternatives, leaving me uninformed about my treatment. At times, the clinic staff also seemed unenthusiastic, with some acting as though they were simply waiting for the weekend. I understand that everyone has off days, but encountering this attitude while dealing with something as sensitive and emotionally difficult as fertility was discouraging. However, I want to acknowledge that our nurse coordinators, Tara and Akira, were kind and helpful throughout the process. I appreciate their support. Ultimately, I am relieved that I transferred to another clinic where I feel more supported and informed.

I had a wonderful experience with PRC during my fertility journey in 2023. Dr. Salem diagnosed several important issues my previous doctor had overlooked. I wish I had come here sooner. Our first round of treatment was successful. Communication was excellent. Even after I "graduated," I could call PRC, and they were happy to guide me. A million thanks to PRC, Dr. Salem, Tara, Rita, Akira, and Eiza!

Do not go here. They only take your money without transferring anything. They are unprofessional and dirty. The amount of unethical conduct I witnessed in one cycle was shocking. Listen to the reviews and go elsewhere. The doctor does not acknowledge you until you have spent $20,000 and failed. Once, he entered with a stranger and inserted a device as an experiment. He continued despite my objections. Do not go here.

I am very grateful for the exceptional care I received at PRC. After 3 Clomid cycles, 2 egg retrievals, and 1 embryo transfer, I am now 14 weeks pregnant with a baby boy due this November! This miracle would not have been possible without the center's incredible team. I want to be honest with future parents: infertility treatment is an extremely difficult journey. It is filled with disappointment, frustration, and emotional setbacks. It requires patience and resilience and pushed my emotions to the lowest point I have experienced. I wish every one of you lasting good fortune.

My experience with PRC was excellent. From the initial consultation through surgery, they were attentive, responsive, and extremely helpful. Daysy was outstanding—excellent and thoughtful, even responding to my messages outside working hours to make sure everything went smoothly. I highly recommend PRC!!!

I am very glad I chose Dr. Salem’s clinic for my IVF journey. Dr. Salem and all the staff are wonderful. Nancy is my care coordinator, and she always listens carefully and ensures that all my questions and concerns are properly addressed. She even checks email on weekends and replies immediately when I message her, making sure I am well and that there is no emergency. She is amazing! Thank you for taking such good care of me!

Terrible! After I waited 40 minutes, the doctor canceled the appointment because I was not interested in the more expensive procedures. The staff and nurses were wonderful. But do not go here. The doctor does not listen to or respect female patients.

Our IVF journey with Pacific Reproductive Center began in 2019 before the pandemic, so it has been a long one. My partner researched IVF clinics extensively, and we chose Pacific Reproductive Center based on Dr. Salem’s reputation and track record. We are very pleased with our decision. Dr. Salem is knowledgeable and experienced in every aspect of IVF. He is also approachable and considerate, which immediately put us at ease. Every procedure went smoothly, we received the best medical care, and the results were excellent. We worked with two coordinators, first Akira and then Daysy. Both were approachable, organized, attentive, and kind, making this complex process easier to manage. All other staff, including the nurses, anesthesiologists, and embryologists, were highly professional, helpful, and considerate. Overall, we felt they saw us not as clients or patients but as family, and that their true role was to help families. They are opening more offices to provide convenient access throughout Southern California.

Dr. Salem and his team were very welcoming. He identified problems I had not known about. I am glad I followed his advice, received treatment, and took the appropriate medications to improve my fertility. My condition improved, and I am now two months and one week pregnant.

The entire experience was terrible, from reception, hospitality, communication, and accommodations to professional standards. This clinic is extremely unprofessional and focused only on money. I completed two treatment cycles here, and both failed. There are many other fertility clinics available.

I will update this review with more specific details, but I had an awful experience with a financial counselor named Letty, or Leticia. She made errors with my finances and became very defensive when I asked her to correct them. She was rude and sarcastic and even hung up on me. What legitimate organization treats clients this way? Not to mention that I spent $21,000 and got nothing. My current clinic says this organization's finances rank among the worst in the country. I wish I had known before paying out of pocket here. Very disappointed.

Every staff interaction was excellent, including with Veronica, Nancy, Jessica, and Dr. Salem. They were very patient and flexible.

I had high hopes for Dr. Salem because a friend had two successes with him. By the end of this experience, I was very disappointed with the doctor and his staff. My insemination procedure was terrible. They used 3 speculums within 15 minutes, which was extremely uncomfortable, and then told me to relax even though they knew they did not have the correct-length speculum. At the end, I reached for the tube containing the sperm sample and saw that not all of it had been used—only part of the sample. I did not become pregnant from this insemination. After some very unexpected laboratory results, I found myself in a unique situation. Dr. Salem was excellent, empathetic, and understanding and wanted to do everything he could, which I appreciated. I saw him a month ago and have been extremely frustrated and disappointed with his financial coordinator. I tried to reach her for weeks and had to contact other staff members for help. She said she would review the information last Thursday and respond, but I still have not heard from her. I am certain I will not try another three or four times. At this point, I have decided this is not right for my partner and me, and we will continue our journey elsewhere.

Never go to this doctor! Completely irresponsible. He appears only for egg retrieval and transfer. Most importantly, he transfers embryos without using ultrasound! He also has several lawsuits and has been accused of fraud! For God's sake, do not go to this doctor or his clinic, Pacific Reproductive Center!

I am very grateful for the staff here, especially Tara. She answered all my questions and was very attentive to my treatment. She made my experience here wonderful. Whenever I had any questions or concerns, she made sure I felt reassured. She does an excellent job. After struggling with infertility caused by PCOS, we will finally welcome our sweet baby girl in less than three weeks, and we are overjoyed. When we are ready for baby number two, we will definitely return. Thank you, Dr. Salem and Tara! 😊

My experience with China Fertility was outstanding! The care from the medical staff and nurses was amazing! Dr. Salem and Dr. Sara were very attentive, helpful, and caring. I had struggled with infertility for 8 months and am glad I found an honest and helpful clinic! I am now 11 weeks pregnant, and everything looks great! I highly recommend Dr. Salem and his staff, especially if you have a low AMH level like me!
