Dr. John Frattarelli, United States
Dr. John Frattarelli is a world-renowned reproductive endocrinologist. He is founder and medical, practice, and laboratory director of the Fertility Institute of Hawaii and is one of the few physicians in the country qualified to serve as laboratory director of an in vitro fertilization laboratory.
Education and Certification
Dr. Frattarelli earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., followed by a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Frattarelli is dual board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Experience
Before founding the Fertility Institute of Hawaii, Dr. Frattarelli served for six years, from 2000 to 2006, as medical and practice director of the IVF Institute at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. He completed his military service in 2013 as a lieutenant colonel (LTC). From 2006 to 2008, he was also director of clinical research at Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey (RMA). Under his leadership, the practice gained national and international recognition and received several research awards. He is also an assistant professor at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and an associate professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

He has held numerous national leadership roles in these organizations, including president of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; chair of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Examination Committee; clinical director on the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology Executive Council; chair of the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society Strategic Planning Committee, 2021-2022; and private practice director on the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Executive Council.
He is a dedicated, award-winning researcher and lecturer with more than 200 national and international presentations and published manuscripts. Since 2009, Castle Connolly has named him a Top Doctor every year, and Honolulu Magazine has named him a Best Doctor.
Dr. Frattarelli's interests focus on reproductive endocrinology and methods to improve infertility diagnosis and treatment, particularly diminished ovarian reserve, infertility surgery, ultrasonography, polycystic ovary syndrome, recurrent pregnancy loss, endometriosis, ovulation induction, male aging, in vitro fertilization, and preimplantation genetic testing.
