Teresa Erb, United States
Dr. Teresa Erb is a reproductive medicine physician and infertility and IVF specialist at the Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology/infertility and is based in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dr. Erb sees patients at offices in Jacksonville, Baptist Downtown, Baptist South, and Daytona Beach, Florida.
Dr. Teresa Erb is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Erb has particular expertise in infertility diagnosis and treatment and assisted reproductive technology. Her clinical interests include fertility preservation, third-party reproduction, human embryonic stem cell development, and ethical considerations in reproductive healthcare.
Dr. Erb earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her OB/GYN residency at UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital and then served as a clinical instructor in obstetric and gynecologic subspecialties from 2006 to 2007.
During her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital, Dr. Erb studied the development of human embryonic stem cells into trophectoderm, the early placenta, and holds two patents. This work was presented at national conferences and published in respected peer-reviewed journals. This background gave Dr. Erb insight into the dynamic processes of oocyte maturation, fertilization, and embryo development that support patient care and effective communication in IVF.
During this period, Dr. Erb co-chaired the committee on fertility preservation options for oncology patients from 2007 to 2010. Her contributions included writing two institutional review board-approved ovarian and testicular cryopreservation protocols for cancer patients, including men, women, and children, and for patients preparing for bone marrow transplantation. She also served on an ethics committee for women and couples receiving reproductive healthcare from 2007 to 2010.
After fellowship, Dr. Erb worked in private practice in Pittsburgh, where she served as director of third-party reproduction. Managing a donor egg program involved a range of clinical duties, including developing FDA SOPs, participating in FDA inspections, selecting and screening donors, creating treatment protocols for donor stimulation and recipient preparation, and establishing a donor oocyte bank. Her clinical responsibilities in private practice also included teaching the complexities of IVF to medical endocrinology fellows and OB/GYN residents.
Dr. Erb has contributed to medical textbooks, presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, and published in several peer-reviewed journals. She has also lectured at UPMC Shadyside Hospital Cancer Center, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Magee-Women's Hospital, and the 3rd Annual Hereditary Cancer Conference. Most of these lectures focused on teaching physicians across multiple specialties about the importance of fertility preservation for men, women, and children preparing to undergo treatments that may affect reproductive health.
Throughout her career, patients and colleagues have noted Dr. Erb's gentle, calm manner and compassion. Patients facing reproductive health concerns consistently describe her as thorough and thoughtful.
Outside of work, Dr. Erb enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, walking, reading, and traveling.
