Doctor Introduction

Dr. Barbara Faber, United States

Reproductive Endocrinologist/Infertility Specialist

Dr. Faber is from Dubuque, Iowa and is very proud of her Iowa roots. Her education and training has taken her all over the country. She first headed west and graduated from Stanford University with a undergraduate degree in Human Biology and then returned to Iowa where she earned her MD degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She then headed south completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida in Gainesville (at the same time as Dr. Schwartz). For her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, she went north to the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. Lastly, she headed to the southwest and moved to the Valley where she practiced reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Arizona Reproductive Medicine Specialists for sixteen years. Dr. Faber is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with subspecialty certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and an Active Member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and infertility. She has been selected multiple times as a Phoenix Magazine “Top Doc in Infertility”. She and her husband, Tom, are blessed with two children, Jacqueline and Jacob.

Could best be described as:

Compassionate, joyful, dedicated, honest, humorous, efficient, succinct, and direct.

Personal Interests:

Spending time with family and her dog, playing the piano and cooking.

Philosophy:

“To always provide high quality, cost effective medical care in a caring, compassionate manner. ’

I wanted to practice medicine because….

“Growing up, I saw the satisfaction the practice of medicine gave to my father who was a very respected and successful general surgeon. He took great pride in the excellent care he gave his patients. He often said that it was a privilege to be a physician. I always knew I would follow in his footsteps. I chose to subspecialize in reproductive endocrinology and infertility because it is a wonderful feeling to help make someone’s dream of having a family come true.”

They told me my baby would not survive past six weeks, then said she could still die even after a heartbeat was heard. The most unsympathetic woman I have ever met—an awful older blonde woman. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. A heartless, cruel, and disgusting practice.

First, Dr. Bernhardt is wonderful, which is the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. Unfortunately, I had to leave her care because scheduling with her is nearly impossible. Most times I call, the phone goes directly to voicemail or a busy signal, or I remain on hold for a long time. Recently, I scheduled an appointment but received text, automated phone, and email notices saying it had been canceled and telling me to call to reschedule. Despite repeatedly calling the Biltmore and Tatum locations, I could not reach anyone. After holding for 13 minutes today, I finally got through and was told Dr. Bernhardt's next appointment was 2–3 months away. This is clearly unacceptable because I am pregnant and need ongoing care.

After I scheduled months in advance, they canceled my appointment twice. The staff were rude and unhelpful. If you value your time and want a clinic to handle canceled appointments with compassion, understanding, and respect, I do not recommend this clinic because it does none of those things.

I do not know why Camelback Women's has such low reviews! I have been coming here since we moved to Phoenix 4 years ago and have seen Dr. Schwartz and several different NPs. She has provided excellent care from day one and always listens to questions and concerns. She easily delivered one of my children and will deliver my next in a few months. It truly was one of the easiest deliveries, and I thank her! I have recommended this practice to several friends. I have also heard from other healthcare providers who are patients of Dr. Schwartz—or whose spouses are patients—that she is “the best in the Valley,” and I completely agree.

There is no conflict of interest; I am not Amy, but her grandson. Here are my two cents, with the second point more concerning than the first. First, the appointment wait is quite long if you have a relatively urgent but non-life-threatening concern, such as severe pelvic pain. The doctor-to-patient ratio must be extremely high, because over the past year and a half, the wait for an appointment has never been less than a month and a half, perhaps two. I consider that quite long. Second, and more concerning, about five or six months ago I came for an ultrasound. The ultrasound technician was excellent, informative, and very helpful. But while I sat on the table, covered by a drape from the waist down and waiting to begin, a male provider opened the door and walked in. She told him to leave, but I was half undressed on the table and fortunately covered. Had she already begun examining me, he would have seen me exposed, which would have been completely inappropriate. When I asked why he walked in that way, she told me he often did so even when the door was closed. Months have passed, and I still find it deeply disturbing. Does your women's clinic allow male providers to walk into closed examination rooms? Is it not generally understood that a closed door means a patient is being seen? Provider or not, this behavior is strange, and it is even stranger not to knock when someone may be undressed on an examination table. Needless to say, I now choose to have all ultrasounds elsewhere. Also, while the providers and technicians are very professional and friendly, the front desk staff are generally not very welcoming. Just a thought.

I have always been very satisfied with the prenatal care here. Maggie and Dr. Bernhard are wonderful and always available to answer questions. The front desk staff are also very kind and helpful. They took excellent care of my baby and me, and I cannot thank them enough!

I was left waiting there. She told me she had forgotten she had a neighbor's anniversary event. Then I learned she did not plan to attend my delivery at all. A few weeks after birth, I developed a severe infection and painful sutures, which another doctor at this practice had done poorly. I could not sit or walk and was screaming in pain. I barely managed to come in, only to be told to wait. They repeatedly failed to schedule my postpartum check until my baby was 17 months old. Then they canceled it because they had something more important that day. Now I am looking at January 2025, when my baby will be 20 months old, for my postpartum visit...what a shame. I mentioned her repeatedly and praised her all over social media, and now I need to find another doctor. This organization has become a joke since the practices merged. She used to speak with you at length and ensure everything was fine. Since the merger, she seems rushed and distant. Once you are no longer pregnant, no one at this practice cares about you.

I have been coming to this office for nearly six years and have always had excellent experiences. Dr. Schwartz is the best. He delivered my two children and will deliver my third this year. Audrey, NP, is also wonderful, and I enjoy seeing her. The front desk staff are warm and friendly, and the medical assistants are equally excellent. Even the phlebotomist is wonderful and always quick and painless. I highly recommend this office.

I have visited several times and am very satisfied with their care. The staff are always friendly, and my NP is the best women's health provider I have ever seen. Thank you for your kind, professional care.

My doctor was wonderful and caring, but the front desk staff were rude. They rolled their eyes when I approached to check in and had a very poor attitude. It was the larger Hispanic woman with long hair.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I had my first appointment scheduled for this coming Friday at the Biltmore location with Dr. Blackstone. I completed and submitted 9 pages of paperwork. This morning, Monday, I received an automated call notifying me that the appointment had been canceled. I have repeatedly tried to reach either location, but cannot get through; the line disconnects. I will not pursue it further. Why did they not have the courtesy to call me personally? They canceled, not me.

Painful experience—not recommended During my IUD insertion, I was told I would receive five pain-relief measures, but I received only one. There was no cervical softener, lidocaine gel, or cervical block—the doctor did not even mention that option. I essentially had to rely on my partner for distraction, which obviously did nothing to relieve the physical pain. I later learned from TikTok and other patients' reviews that good clinics offer multiple pain-management options, and now I understand why this clinic's rating is so low. I left in pain. I will definitely go elsewhere in the future. No one should undergo a procedure like this without appropriate care or informed options.

I never leave reviews, especially negative ones, but I am extremely frustrated. A doctor referred me here, but my first appointment was canceled with only a few days' notice. My second appointment, scheduled several weeks later as the next available opening, was canceled just an hour and a half before the appointment. Once again, my initial visit was rescheduled several weeks out. I have been in pain since the referral became necessary and have not received the treatment I need. In total, I have waited more than 7 weeks for an initial appointment. I understand that problems arise in healthcare, but I do not feel that my pain and concerns have been taken seriously. I plan to seek care elsewhere.

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic and their PV location. The front desk staff are always friendly and efficient and often accommodate my schedule when arranging visits. I see Dr. Schwartz, who is knowledgeable, approachable, and attentive. She always takes the time to answer all my questions and explain everything clearly. She truly is the best! When Dr. Schwartz's schedule is full, I see Holly, who is also kind, attentive, and wonderful. Throughout my pregnancy, I felt supported and well informed by all the staff. Whether during routine appointments, ultrasounds, or occasional questions at postpartum follow-ups, the team was always responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking excellent obstetric care. They made a very special time in my life so enjoyable.

Everyone here is warm and friendly. My nurse practitioner, Allie, is wonderful. She listened carefully to my concerns and made me feel at ease. She is extremely kind and personable. The clinic is very clean and professional. I am so glad I chose this practice! Thank you to everyone at the clinic.

One star for the speculum, zero for the experience After 20 years as a loyal patient, I expected more than a cold exam table and even colder treatment at the 32nd Street and Camelback location. I arrived 20 minutes early and dutifully completed five pages of bureaucratic nonsense, because apparently my uterus changed addresses since last year, and prepared for my annual Pap test. After undressing and carefully putting on a dignity-free paper gown, I waited. And waited. After an awkward fifteen minutes, I was told my provider was still busy with an obstetric appointment—and not in an amusing way. Spoiler alert: she never appeared. I had to get dressed and leave my own appointment because apparently my reproductive health was less urgent than someone else's due date. This practice has made one thing very clear: unless you are pregnant or planning to have a “benefits baby,” apparently their preferred clientele, your concerns are not a priority. Over 40 and experiencing real, valid changes? Do not expect support, understanding, or even basic respect. The providers here seem more skilled at being condescending than at providing actual care. Their expertise in gynecologic health after 40 is laughably limited, and patients' time is treated as an afterthought. After twenty years of loyalty, I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and disturbingly unexamined. Ladies, unless you are seeking prenatal care, you may want to take your ovaries—and your business—elsewhere.

Yesterday was my first appointment with NP Margaret Castor, and all I can say is that everything was wonderful! Thank you to the receptionist and all the excellent staff for making me feel so comfortable and truly listening to my concerns. I cannot wait to continue my care here❤️

I am deeply disappointed with my experience with Dr. Amber Tsang. What began as a routine request for a simple letter confirming my pregnancy escalated into a troubling situation that ultimately jeopardized my privacy and personal safety. Dr. Tsang not only failed to complete my written request from several weeks earlier, which she acknowledged in a conversation with a third party, but claimed when confronted that she did not remember writing the letter. More disturbing, she spoke with my landlord without my consent about the letter’s legitimacy and implied that I was her patient. This directly violated my privacy. Whether or not she disclosed specific health information, HIPAA clearly prohibits unauthorized acknowledgment of a patient relationship. As a healthcare professional, she should know better. Her negligence and lack of accountability contributed to an ongoing legal dispute with my landlord and placed me and my unborn child under extreme stress and in an unsafe situation. This is not the standard of care any OB/GYN should provide. If you want a provider who takes your privacy and well-being seriously, I strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere.

This is my favorite gynecology practice. Even after moving away, I still drive an hour to keep this clinic and my doctor. I have seen many doctors here and currently see Maggie Castor. They are all patient and empathetic, including the front desk staff. I do not understand the many negative reviews. Every medical practice that accepts insurance faces intense market pressure and declining reimbursement, yet this clinic remains kind and caring. They truly go above and beyond. If you are new and reading these reviews, go. Schedule your first appointment. Tell them all your needs. Advocate for yourself. Learn. You will be well cared for here.

In my opinion, Dr. Nelson is one of the best doctors. He delivered my first son 🥺🩵 Now I am pregnant with my second son, and I am happy to have Dr. Nelson as my doctor 🙏

I am extremely disappointed by the highly unprofessional conduct of all the nurses here. The doctors were similarly rushed, dismissive, and lacking in empathy. I left feeling unheard and disrespected and genuinely concerned about the quality of care at this clinic. Healthcare should be compassionate, inclusive, and professional. Sadly, this clinic failed in every respect. I would not recommend it to anyone who values dignity and respectful treatment.
    Aug 6, 2025
I should probably start by saying that I may be a little particular about healthcare... CWH is a wonderful place with loving, compassionate staff. I love my nurse practitioner, Holly. She laughs and jokes and lets me ask every question. She is professional and warm, does not jump to conclusions, and is very thorough and thoughtful. I actually arrived early for my appointment and was out in 25 minutes, 12 of which I spent with the staff! I highly recommend CWH! I also really appreciate their care for everyone. In another review, someone was extremely cruel about the "clientele." Everyone deserves quality care. Thank you, CWH!

I absolutely love this clinic. Dr. Zeng is amazing; her communication and compassion are exceptional. Medical assistant Kristen also deserves a raise. She has always been kind, handled all my paperwork, consistently responded to portal messages, was always courteous, did an excellent job assisting with procedures, and helped with all my work and procedure documentation. She is truly wonderful, and I am very grateful to her.

The front desk staff were very kind, and so was Dr. Zeng! They were efficient, patient, and listened carefully to my needs.

I do not usually leave negative reviews, but this hospital's front desk service is terrible. The people answering the phone are always rude and provide no help. The doctors here are excellent, but be prepared to be treated like trash before you see them.

Every visit goes smoothly. I see the doctor quickly, and the staff is pleasant. I have been a patient at this practice for 20 years.
    Dec 17, 2025
I attended this OB-GYN practice for years, but over the last year or two scheduling has become extremely difficult and appointments are often canceled. The system is inconvenient and disorganized. Even after confirming and taking time off work, they could not guarantee my requested physician or nurse would be available. Regrettably, I must find another practice.
    Dec 16, 2025
My physician was wonderful and made me comfortable, answering all my questions. However, after an email said results were online, I could not access them. After waiting a week, staff tried to guide me through the website instead of providing results. I could barely understand the representative, and when I declined more online troubleshooting, she told me to speak nicely and hung up. A supervisor was equally unhelpful. Customer service should help patients access health information, not make it harder. I am deeply disappointed and will not return.

I’ve been going to this practice for several years and I can honestly say it’s one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. While Dr. Blackstone is very nice, her assistant Karen is beyond incredibly rude and will hang up on you. I have yet to have a positive experience with her - her name is quite fitting. Additionally, I had an ultrasound done on Dec 8 and they were unable to get me any results for almost a month- which is “standard” for them. Ultrasounds typically have a 1 week turnaround. Additionally, they refuse to provide a copy of your images. When they finally got my results, and called to schedule just a surgery consult, I was told I had to wait another month for the appt. My husband had to call back and beg for another appt at a different location. During the consult, I was promised I would get a call the next Monday to schedule my surgery, it took another 5 days and me calling to get an update. I still don’t have a surgery date scheduled. Instead I was told I need to pay $40 to schedule the surgery which is being done by a different facility. When I asked for an explanation I was told “I will make a note you are refusing to pay” and then Karen hung up on me. Please don’t waste your time at this practice! They will slow walk your care- regardless if there is a potential for cancer. There are so many better options out there!

I signed up to see Dr.Schwartz and I hope I get to meet her soon cause it feels like I have to see everyone but her…. The other providers I encountered were nice and very personable so it’s not a dig at them, but I really want to meet my GYN as I’m 8 weeks pregnant and new to the area. They keep saying you have to go to the NP… oh the NP you saw isn’t available, want to schedule with another NP? No. I want to see ONE person throughout my pregnancy for continuity and get comfortable with them as I have history of complications during pregnancy. But they make it impossible to do that. I saw one MD because she was available while I waited for Dr.S and was told “If you see her again- you’ll have to see her the duration of your pregnancy.” I saw her because I didn’t have another option (and she was great!) but I don’t want to keep being asked or push to establish with another provider. My last office- I saw one person - my MD the entirety of my pregnancy that’s it.

The doctor and staff are excellent. 100% recommended.
    Jan 17, 2026
Excellent! The front desk staff were friendly, the nurse was kind, and the doctor I saw, Allie Kosena, was especially nice. Although my pain tolerance is higher than most, the Pap smear did not hurt at all. I recommend this clinic :)
    Jan 13, 2026
My first prenatal visit was with Dr. Maggie Castor, and I also had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Bernhard. Both doctors were wonderful! The front and back office staff were also excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful!
    Jan 30, 2026
I received an email the same day saying my appointment had been canceled, even though appointments are already very difficult to obtain. I was then told the earliest available date was late February or early March. Dr. Blackstone's assistant was extremely rude and unapologetic.
    Mar 13, 2026
Maggie is great. Personable, professional and efficient. Good with anxious types like me :)
    Mar 8, 2026
I originally saw OB-GYN Dr. Anita Bernhard and recently switched to nurse practitioner Margaret Castro. I must say my latest examination was somewhat painful now that I am older. However, the front desk staff and nurses were excellent. Maggie was especially thoughtful: she listened carefully, explained everything, and confirmed all the details. Fortunately, my examination is annual. I will definitely see Maggie again. 💕
    Feb 14, 2026
I found the best OB-GYN, Dr. Bernhard. She truly cares and remembers many details about your life. She delivered my younger son almost six years ago, and I still remember her. I recently learned that my insurance no longer covers her, but I decided to pay out of pocket so she could remain my doctor.
    Mar 26, 2026
I am very unhappy with the conduct of all the women at the front desk 😔 They were very unfriendly to my wife. Extremely unprofessional.
    Mar 23, 2026
At my first visit, Dr. Zeng kindly and patiently listened as I described my various health issues. She was gentle and professional during the Pap smear and breast exam. Although this should be expected of a doctor, it was still appreciated. I look forward to future visits.
    Apr 22, 2026
Maggie is always warm and kind. She is efficient and makes me feel heard and reassured. She takes time to explain abnormalities in detail and provides excellent patient education. I trust Maggie completely and will continue scheduling visits with her.
    May 13, 2026
I feel bad leaving 3 stars because I absolutely love camelback women’s health but the young front desk girl with a septum piercing needs a serious attitude check and more training on how to treat guests. I had an amazing visit with my doctor Jen Billingsley to check on some concerning health issues.Although I was not greeted when I walked in, or even told to have a nice day when I checked out, she ignored me when I said hello, and when I was asking clarifying questions about paperwork she responded to me with snippy and smart ass responses. I use to be a manager in customer service and I would have fired her if she was under me treating guests like that. I was already anxious coming into my appointment and her behavior appalled me since she is working in a women’s health office.
    May 6, 2026
Dr. Zeng and the nurse I met today are the most compassionate healthcare professionals I have ever encountered. I am extremely grateful for their care! They truly went above and beyond.

I wish I could give a lower rating. Rebecca is prejudiced and will not help you if your sexual orientation is anything other than heterosexual. She preached to me in a way that was extremely offensive and bigoted. I have contacted my lawyer, and if she remains employed, we will hold the entire practice accountable. This is not a safe place.

The worst experience of my life - dangerous and coercive care If I could give zero stars, I would. My pregnancy had been going very well until I began weekly checkups at 36 weeks. That was when everything went downhill. 36 weeks: The nurse walked in and said, 'We are doing a cervical examination and GBS swab today,' as though it had already been decided. I told her I wanted to wait on the GBS swab and did not want a cervical examination. Instead of respecting my decision, Dr. Schwartz rushed in without even saying hello and demanded that I have the GBS swab because 'it is standard care.' When I repeated that I wanted to wait, she told me I had to sign an AMA form, which I agreed to, but then threatened, 'Fine, then I will treat you.' She implied that if I went into labor, she would give me antibiotics without my consent, then casually mentioned, 'I have not had a baby die from GBS yet, but I had one come very close.' I could not believe she was using fear instead of providing information. It was clear she had no interest in my consent or choices. 37 weeks: This visit was perfunctory. She walked in, said only what was necessary, and left quickly, as though she could not be bothered. 38 weeks: I had the GBS swab, and it was painful. It should not hurt; it is a simple swab. Again, she said she hoped the results would return on time because a baby had nearly died. The constant fearmongering was exhausting. 39 weeks: Dr. Schwartz did not even pretend to care about my feelings or health. She announced that if I did not go into labor by the following week, at 41 weeks, I would be induced because 'too many babies die,' citing a recent case involving fetal meconium. There was no discussion, no explanation of risks, and no alternatives such as ultrasound or nonstress testing. She treated me like a child and stripped me of the right to make decisions about my own body. As we left, she confronted my sister, who had accompanied me, and belittled the advice she had given me because she had delivered at home. Dr. Schwartz sarcastically suggested that if I intended to 'refuse everything,' I should also give birth at home. I left feeling humiliated and afraid, worried for the safety of children in her care. This should have been a beautiful and empowering experience, but Dr. Schwartz turned it into a nightmare. I was coerced into procedures, my autonomy was disregarded, and I was made to feel like a bad mother simply because I wanted information and the ability to make my own choices. I would not wish this experience on anyone. If you care about your right to make decisions during pregnancy and to be treated with respect, stay away from this practice.

I feel valued and cared for here. I have been seeing Dr. Jen here for almost 8 years.
    May 8, 2018
I called and scheduled an appointment at the Tatum location for 1:30 p.m. Fortunately, I arrived early because the receptionist told me I was at the wrong place. My appointment had been moved to 32nd Street, far from my home, at 2 p.m. I had written down the appointment details while they gave them to me, and my calendar showed Tatum at 1:30 p.m. I suppose the Tatum location does not welcome new patients. The 32nd Street clinic had much better customer service, so thank you for unknowingly moving me somewhere better.

I had a wonderful experience at CWH. Dr. Schwartz delivered my first child in 2022 and will deliver my next child later this year. She is knowledgeable, kind, helpful, and attentive to every concern. Between visits with Dr. Schwartz, I saw several NPs. I recommend Audrey, Kim, or Holly; they are all caring, kind, and knowledgeable. I do not recommend Megan, however. We saw her several times during my first pregnancy, and I felt she did not care. She never acknowledged my husband when he had questions and was always rude to him. She seemed to give only generic answers and advice. I hope this helps the next person. Having an excellent provider who cares is very important.

I cannot speak about every doctor in this office, but I strongly advise against seeing Dr. DeSanto. He did not treat me as a person. He did not listen, misdiagnosed me, and refused to acknowledge or answer my questions. He was harsh and not gentle in his care. I left in tears, frightened and in pain. I have posted a more detailed review of him if you want further explanation.
    Jul 12, 2024
Excellent, clean facility with wonderful doctors who always listen to your concerns and never rush you out. I recommend Dr. Nelson and Dr. Anita Bernhardt. When I had severe cramping, the doctor prescribed appropriate medication that relieved my symptoms. Highly recommended 👌

Friendly environment, courteous staff, and knowledgeable NPs who help address questions and concerns and provide education.

Where do I begin? Dr. Schwartz delivered my son, my second pregnancy. She is knowledgeable, caring, thorough, helpful, and has an excellent bedside manner. I was honestly very afraid because my first pregnancy with another provider involved a traumatic delivery, but Dr. Schwartz assured me that this delivery would be smooth and stress-free. I am truly grateful that I found her. She is an outstanding OB-GYN, and I love her. All the CWH staff are also consistently kind and welcoming, waits are short, and the facility is clean and spacious. Thank you all for caring for me during pregnancy. I highly recommend this practice without hesitation!

If I could, I would probably leave no stars. I called two weeks ago to make an appointment, explained that I was in pain, and was told the earliest available appointment was in December. I said to the woman on the phone, 'I am telling you I am in pain, and the earliest you can see me is December?' She replied that unfortunately this was correct. I explained that I had been a patient there for years, was not a new patient, and had a problem. Again, she said she was sorry, but that was their earliest appointment. I said I had no choice but to find another doctor. She said okay and did not care at all. A friend recommended Women's Health AZ. I spoke with a very pleasant woman who initially scheduled me with a PA/NP, but after hearing about my problem and medical history, she arranged for me to see an MD within two weeks. I had my appointment today and am very pleased with their office. I do have a problem and was referred to another specialist. This used to be an excellent office. My last few experiences have been terrible.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Olivia Blackstone, DO. She is easy to talk to, listens well, and shared helpful information. I plan to become a regular patient. The office staff and medical assistants were very pleasant and helpful. I could not ask for better.

If you are new to Camelback Women's Health, note these two points: - Sending medical information to a referring provider is challenging and, in some cases, requires the referred provider to visit the office personally. (The staff are well aware of this issue.) - Standard procedures were omitted during the annual examination.

Margaret Castor was wonderful. She helped me understand my medications and ordered preventive screenings for me. I have been coming here for more than 8 years, and they are all excellent. Highly recommended for any woman taking an active role in her health.

Dr. DeSanto is an excellent, caring physician. If you have medical issues or complications during pregnancy, he is also the team member you want. We were told we needed to see MFM and be managed as high risk, but with Dr. DeSanto's expertise, we received the best care even when things became complicated. During the final stage of pregnancy, he ensured we received extra monitoring, and when I went into preterm labor, he returned before dawn on a weekend to deliver our baby, who went to the NICU. When we experienced a miscarriage, he was caring and supportive and took time to call me personally and check on me. I always saw him rather than rotating nurses as at other practices. Dr. DeSanto is experienced, knowledgeable, calm under pressure, and compassionate. He is also pragmatic and honest. If you have a high-risk pregnancy, complications, or other medical issues, he is exactly the person you want.

I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. I have seen Dr. Steven Nelson for the past 5 years, and he delivered 2 of my 4 children. His knowledge and bedside manner are far superior to the care I received before finding this clinic. I am grateful to have received such excellent care during my pregnancies and look forward to many more years of continued care.

Deeply Disappointed by the Lack of Urgent Care and Empathy I am extremely disappointed by Camelback Women's Health's lack of urgency, compassion, and care during a pregnancy emergency. After calling the on-call OB-GYN, I was told to go immediately to the Paradise Valley location because I was experiencing heavy bleeding and had passed a large piece of tissue. The doctor specifically said to tell the staff it was an emergency. However, when I called ahead, the call center simply said, “There is nothing I can do.” There was no attempt to escalate my situation and no compassion, only indifference. When I arrived just as the clinic opened, I expected to be seen promptly given the nature of my condition. Instead, I was told the earliest appointment was at 3:40 p.m.—hours later. I was distressed, bleeding heavily, extremely anxious, and needed immediate medical attention. The staff's complete lack of urgency and empathy was shocking and unacceptable. I trusted this clinic to provide prompt and compassionate prenatal care, but I was dismissed and delayed at a critical moment. No patient, especially one experiencing a miscarriage or pregnancy emergency, should be treated as an afterthought. If you are looking for a clinic that prioritizes patient care, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. Do better.

Allie Kosena is amazing. Thank you so much for all of your help!!!

Olivia Blackstone is like a robot. There was no connection between us. I asked her to complete a form so the days I missed work because of illness in early pregnancy would not count against my pay, but she refused. She said she could not complete a form excusing me from work and implied that I was lazy and seeking an undeserved benefit. That was not what I was asking for. I spent more time preparing for and waiting for the appointment than she spent providing care. I truly do not understand what her role is when an AI robot could do it better. I will need to find someone else to deliver my baby.

I had an excellent experience with this clinic during both of my pregnancies! The doctors and staff are wonderful—kind, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful.

I was a long-term patient at Camelback Women's Health and had never experienced a problem until recently. I always received good care during my annual exams and appreciated the staff's professionalism, but my most recent visit was deeply disappointing. During my annual exam, I casually asked the doctor to remove a small skin tag. She did so without hesitation and never told me the minor procedure would involve an additional charge. Had I known, I certainly would have declined. I was later surprised to find the fee on my bill. When I called the billing department for clarification, I received a dismissive and unprofessional response. The representative told me word for word that I “obviously did not understand how doctors' offices charge.” My call was then transferred to someone else, who explained that the charge could not be waived. Ironically, they even noted that I had never had a previous issue, reinforcing my point that I had no reason to expect an extra charge. I calmly explained my history as a responsible patient: always paying on time, remaining cooperative and supportive, and even responding to the clinic's feedback requests. The office manager said she would call me back. I hoped she might show some understanding or at least acknowledge my concern. Unfortunately, that conversation offered neither. As someone who has worked in customer service for more than ten years, I can confidently say this was one of the worst service experiences I have encountered. Waiving a small $35 fee would have cost the clinic little and retained a loyal patient. It is clear, however, that my continued loyalty and good patient history did not matter. Sadly, I will not return to Camelback Women's Health. It is disappointing to leave a clinic I trusted for years, but I will not support a practice that does not value patient relationships or basic courtesy.

I have been coming here for some time and have always liked my doctor, but the office management is poor. The front desk and phone staff need customer-service training. Today I waited 17.29 minutes before hanging up, and calls consistently take over five minutes to answer.

A very good hospital with excellent doctors and support staff. Dr. Anita Bernard made our pregnancy journey easy, with prompt responses and clear communication. Highly recommended.

Dr. Schwartz and Maggie are not only outstanding clinicians but angels. It is rare to find people who are so compassionate, intelligent, and kindhearted. Stop searching and trust this practice to help you find the right gynecologist and obstetrician. Believe me, I have tried many doctors, and you will not find anyone like Dr. Schwartz or Maggie. If you do, you are very fortunate.

The receptionist was so rude to my sister that I cannot believe she still has a job. When my sister called to ask why she had to pay for her last three visits when those charges had already been reimbursed, the receptionist told her to learn how to say no.

I have been going to Julie Bergdale at Camelback Women’s Health for 18 years (Nelson was my ob prior). Top of the line treatment in every regard. From Karan at the front desk to the health providers, by far a class act.

I’m a new patient at Camelback Women’s Care and have had an excellent experience. I saw Megan Speakermire, NP, for my annual exam, and she was kind, thoughtful, efficient, and thorough. She listened carefully and offered sound, practical advice. Everyone, from the front office staff to the nurses, was warm and welcoming. My mid-morning appointment began on time, which I appreciated. I returned for my mammogram, conveniently offered at the facility. Chantel, the radiology technician, was wonderful. She made me completely comfortable, explained every step, and was clearly very knowledgeable. It was my first mammogram, and I was surprised by how quick, smooth, and comfortable it was. I highly recommend Camelback Women’s Care to anyone seeking compassionate, efficient, and professional women’s healthcare.

The woman at the front desk was very rude while checking me in. I did not have my insurance information but could have obtained it within minutes. Because I was already 5 minutes past my appointment time, they said I had to reschedule. I had waited a month and a half for this appointment and now had to move it another 3 weeks because they could not wait 5 minutes for insurance information. They showed no understanding and made no effort to help resolve the issue. Do not come here.

It had been some time since my last visit, and this experience reminded me why I stopped coming here. They treated me like a number and dismissed every concern I raised. I expected better from a doctor who treats only women. I later saw another doctor who correctly diagnosed my condition from a urine test. They overlooked something so simple.

Dr. Zeng is a special doctor. As you can imagine, we developed a very close bond with her over the past nine months. She was always so caring and made me feel heard and reassured, which was essential during pregnancy, especially with my first child. I truly appreciated her calm, gentle tone; she never made me panic. She was flexible, and it was clear that she genuinely had our best interests at heart. The delivery was encouraging and filled with positive energy. She kept motivating me and guided me in a calm, supportive way. She never pressured me into any decision, but asked how I felt about each option. We are very grateful to her for giving us such a wonderful experience.

The front desk staff were friendly. However, the clinical team, or at least the team members I encountered, did not practice trauma-informed care or follow the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ (ACOG) recommendations for pain management during intrauterine device (IUD) insertion. When I called to schedule, I asked whether they offered pain management such as injectable lidocaine and was told they did. When I arrived, however, the nurse said they did not provide it and that injectable lidocaine made no difference. This was my second IUD insertion, and I learned in an extremely painful way that injectable lidocaine does matter. ACOG recommends it for a reason. I understand that my appointment was late in the day and the team may have been ready to go home after working all day, but I was frightened and disappointed by their attitude. I was especially upset that the team member who brought me back repeatedly said, “I don’t have time to deal with this,” after discovering the front desk had not arranged a urine test.

I have been a patient of Camelback Women’s Health for almost 10 years. I have never, ever, had a negative experience. I am always called back for my appointments with minimal wait and seen promptly. Audrey is a great care provider. She is kind, thorough yet efficient, and easy to talk to. I feel well cared for by this medical group and will continue to come here for my women’s health care needs. I highly recommend this practice!

I was very disappointed by my experience with Dr. Anita Bernhard. During the visit, I made a lighthearted joke and received a cold, insensitive, and upsetting response: ‘Get a divorce.’ I immediately felt uncomfortable. More concerning, during the examination the doctor found a lump in my breast and asked me to confirm it myself. Given my family history of breast and cervical cancer, this was already extremely anxiety-provoking. After an ultrasound and an abnormal Pap smear result, I expected prompt, direct communication from the doctor. Instead, I had to call repeatedly and ultimately received a response from a medical assistant rather than the doctor. The doctor never called me personally about these serious health concerns. Clear and compassionate communication is essential for patients facing potentially serious health issues. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I’m so grateful to Dawn Huff and her wonderful medical assistant for fitting me into the schedule at the last minute before my international travel. I was dealing with a very painful issue that needed immediate attention. I truly appreciated how supported and cared for I felt during a stressful time, I was treated with kindness and urgency. Highly recommend!

I am extremely disappointed that a bill was sent to collections without any prior notice. I never received a letter, email, phone call, voicemail, or text message about an outstanding balance. Even more frustrating, I remained a patient at this practice for three years after the bill was supposedly due. During that time, I had multiple appointments, most recently in February 2026, yet no one ever mentioned an unpaid balance. Had I been informed, I certainly would have paid it. Instead, I first learned about it from a collection agency three years later. A professional medical practice should communicate billing issues directly to patients. Sending an account to collections without making a reasonable effort to notify the patient is unacceptable.

I only needed STI testing and a Pap smear... If there is a line outside your door, why make me wait two months? I would rather go to Banner Health. No, thank you.

I am surprised this is a gynecology clinic when they do not help women who come seeking care.
    May 19, 2026
My primary care doctor recommended Dr. Burkhardt, whom she apparently knew personally. I waited nearly two months for an appointment, only to receive a call today saying they could not keep it and needed to reschedule. As other reviews mention, the front-desk staff are rude, and it takes a long time to reach anyone.
