Cooper Institute for Reproductive Hormonal Disorders has been a member of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) since 1989. We have many years of experience and considerable success with all types of infertility. The institute is led by Jerome H. Check, MD, who has helped patients pursue their dreams of starting or growing a family for 45 years.
Over the past 3 years,
we have averaged approximately 325 egg retrievals, 210 fresh embryo transfers, and 150-175 frozen embryo transfers annually. We were also among the first centers to offer a shared-oocyte program, in which one patient shares half of her oocytes with another in exchange for IVF services at almost no cost. In addition to the personalized, high-quality care our patients receive, our center offers one of the country’s most affordable IVF programs.

Our clinic’s physicians are reproductive endocrinologists dedicated to helping patients become pregnant. Our team also includes nurses, embryologists, andrologists, sonographers, medical technologists, and researchers with expertise in infertility.
Jerome Check
MD, has published more than 800 healthcare research papers and is known for pioneering advances.

We take pride in making every effort to provide the least invasive, lowest-cost procedures.

If I could give a negative rating, I would. There is absolutely no communication among the staff at this clinic, and they have no idea what is happening with your medical record. If you miss one of their unexplained calls, you can never reach anyone. In addition to their poor attitude, they respond rudely even when you ask a simple question. The receptionist is the worst: she answers the phone by yelling at you as though you have interrupted her. They explain nothing and speak to you as if you are stupid. We have spent thousands of dollars at this clinic over the past three and a half years, and all they care about is money. The first time I questioned why he wanted me to have another surgery after I had already undergone two, he became angry with me. He told me that he would not treat me unless I underwent another IVF cycle. He also did not want to use the excellent-quality embryos that I had paid to freeze. Because other members of my family had also been treated there, he repeatedly made racist comments, referring to me as “my people” and “your family.” Even after I refused several times, he kept pressuring me to donate my eggs. They are greedy, racist, and ignorant.

Dr. Check helped me become pregnant many years ago. He was kind and intuitive. My son is now 43 years old and has two children of his own. Thank you, Dr. Check.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience. Over the past six months, we have undergone countless tests and spent about $18000, yet we still have not been able to proceed with an egg retrieval. Time and again, we were told that the optimal retrieval window had been missed because there was not enough data, which has been extremely frustrating. The last time they missed it again, they suggested intrauterine insemination (IUI). I provided an egg sample, but nearly two hours later they came out and explained that the tube had broken, the sample had been lost, the doctor was leaving, and we could wait for a nurse to collect another one. The most disappointing part is not just the outcome, but the lack of progress throughout the process. If we had at least been given one opportunity for an egg retrieval, it might be understandable. But after six months of testing, we have not even had one chance to try, which is incredibly discouraging. After speaking with others, including friends who are older than us, we learned that their experiences at other clinics were completely different. With more attentive care and timely follow-up, they completed multiple egg retrievals within a few months and were shocked to hear how slowly we were progressing. Communication throughout the process has been inconsistent and difficult to manage. There is no centralized patient portal, and updates are unpredictable—sometimes by phone, sometimes through random emails, even on weekends. This often left us scrambling to find a pharmacy that was still open to fill urgent prescriptions. Delays also seemed to stem from understaffing or limited clinic resources, which only made the situation more difficult. Overall, the process has felt impersonal and poorly coordinated. For something as time-sensitive as fertility treatment, the approach has felt far too passive and lacking in urgency. The emphasis seems to be on continued testing rather than the ultimate treatment outcome. From a process standpoint, the lack of follow-up after the initial consultation and the absence of a clear, proactive treatment plan have been especially frustrating. It feels as though the team has not learned from previous cycles or adjusted its approach based on the data already collected.

Dr. Check and his team are amazing! After two miscarriages, our previous doctors did not know what was wrong, but Dr. Check identified the issue in about 20 minutes. We had our daughter, who certainly would not be here without him. We will be forever grateful! We also referred two desperate friends with similar experiences. Thanks to Dr. Check and his team, both now have children. They are truly wonderful!

My experience has been really poor so far. Dr checks intial consultation is him proving you with his research papers, his assistant is rude, instructions not provided, totally unprofessional office

Dr. Check's practice is amazing! Without them, my son would not be here. I will always be grateful! If I could give them a rating of 1000, I would.

My experience at the clinic was mixed. The doctors are excellent—caring, attentive, and genuinely committed to treatment. The medical care is unquestionably one of the clinic’s greatest strengths. However, the administrative side leaves much to be desired. Unfortunately, service outside the consultation room is extremely disorganized. Communication is unclear, deadlines are often missed, and patient support often feels impersonal and sometimes even disrespectful. This creates unnecessary stress and uncertainty during an already emotional process. I sincerely hope clinic management will carefully review how the administrative team operates. With such capable medical staff, it is unfortunate that the overall experience is diminished by organizational problems that can and should be addressed with greater empathy, respect, and professionalism.

It has been about a year since I began my journey with Dr. Check. After several unsuccessful attempts to build our family, I was referred to him. Following a very thorough evaluation, I was finally diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, a diagnosis I had sought for years. Thankfully, with help from his practice, my husband and I welcomed our first son in February. I will always be grateful to him and the practice for the kindness they showed us during our struggle.

My experience there was very poor. First, the nurses were not very kind. Second, I should have had more eggs retrieved, but they allowed only one egg to develop and ultimately retrieved just one, wasting my expensive medication. Third, at my first visit, the doctor took me into a room for an examination. I expected him to use an instrument, but he simply inserted his finger into my vagina and asked whether it hurt a little. No one else was present. Afterward, he sent me for an ultrasound. I do not understand whether that examination was necessary.

We—my wife and I—are extremely disappointed with how we were treated. The staff were rude and would not answer our honest questions. My wife was already very emotional, and the employees here only made matters worse!

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Check and the entire staff. With their help, I had 2 children through IVF. It was a very emotional experience, and the staff explained everything very well. I referred a close friend, and she also had a wonderful experience and had boy-girl twins. Highly recommended!

When I read reviews of this practice, I cannot help wondering why Cooper's administration will not make major improvements. The recurring theme is rude office staff. My niece is receiving treatment and personally experienced the office staff's extreme rudeness and unpleasant behavior. My God. Given the purpose of this practice, how can this be acceptable? I will make a bold statement about Cooper, and I can verify every experience. The doctors are excellent, but in my experience Cooper seems to pay signing bonuses for hiring obnoxious, rude, unprofessional office staff. No, this is not an isolated event; it is widespread. What a disgrace for the doctors who see patients and excel at their work but must tolerate the worst staff. The administration responsible for staffing must be at fault. It cannot be a coincidence that every office has some of the worst staff. Another bold statement: if Cooper removed the entirely incompetent, ineffective patient-relations staff, I guarantee there would be tremendous improvement. Most calls to this useless group concern staff issues, and they never return calls. They are the embodiment of rudeness. After years of this nonsense, anyone would conclude that office staff would never act this way if they knew the people entrusted to oversee their behavior would respond. I almost want to name every one of them, but that would be unfair to the excellent doctors. Cooper, keep posting condescending replies saying you are glad this was brought to your attention. We all know how much effort you will make.

I had an excellent experience at this clinic. Dr. Check is highly knowledgeable, thorough, and has a wonderful manner with patients. I appreciate that he provides patients with research articles for further reading about their treatment. I felt very well cared for here. During my first IVF cycle, everyone—from reception, billing, and the phlebotomist to the embryologists, doctors, and nurses—was professional and compassionate. They truly helped reduce the stress of an ordinarily stressful situation. Andy, the anesthetist, was also wonderful. Dr. Sobel performed my retrieval and transfer and was excellent—a compassionate doctor who truly cares about patients. My only complaint is that billing is difficult to reach. Once I was able to speak with them, they resolved matters quickly, but trying to arrange billing promptly enough to start a cycle was somewhat stressful.
