Who We Are

The Institute for Reproductive Medicine was founded in 2008, combining the expertise of two highly successful independent practices. The teams from Oak Brook Fertility and the Rinehart Center for Reproductive Medicine merged to create the Institute for Reproductive Medicine as it is known today. In 2016, we further strengthened our leading team by welcoming Dr. Shweta Nayak from Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. Since opening, we have been committed to providing safe, advanced treatment with compassion. We are proud to serve a diverse patient population, including families from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and around the world. The Institute for Reproductive Medicine is accredited by several professional organizations, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), and College of American Pathologists (CAP).

What We Do

The team at the Institute for Reproductive Medicine provides gold-standard infertility testing and procedures. We are committed to offering our patients a broad range of services. Intended parents can visit our Chicago office for the following services:

  • Advanced reproductive surgery: Conditions such as endometriosis and uterine fibroids may require surgery. Many modern procedures are minimally invasive and require little recovery time.

  • Intrauterine insemination:  This procedure is one of the most common fertility treatments. We often recommend intrauterine insemination for patients with unexplained infertility.

  • In vitro fertilization: IVF is an excellent option for patients with endometriosis, a history of miscarriage, or a low sperm count.

  • Egg freezing: Egg freezing may be suitable for people who want to become parents but prefer to wait until later in life.

  • Egg and embryo donation: Donated eggs and embryos can help couples who cannot conceive naturally. Please let us know if you would like to become a donor.

  • LGBT reproductive services: We welcome members of the LGBT+ community to discuss fertility options such as third-party reproduction with our team.

  • Sperm donation: Single women, female same-sex couples, and patients with male infertility may wish to consider donor sperm as a way to conceive.

  • Surrogacy: Surrogacy is an option for families who have difficulty conceiving. Please let us know if you would like to use or become a surrogate.

  • Endocrine testing: Endocrine testing evaluates thyroid dysfunction, which is often associated with infertility.

  • Hysterosalpingography: This assessment uses X-ray imaging to help determine a patient's fertility potential.

  • Hysteroscopy: Hysteroscopy is minimally invasive and can evaluate and correct abnormalities of the uterine cavity.

  • Laparoscopy:  We recommend laparoscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes involving the pelvic organs.

  • Ovarian reserve testing: Ovarian reserve testing may be appropriate for women with infertility, a history of smoking, or a family history of menopause. Ask whether this test is right for you.

  • Sonohysterography: These saline ultrasounds allow us to view the inside of the uterus and investigate complex conditions.
Semen analysis: An estimated 40% of infertility is related to male-factor issues. Visit our clinic to learn more about male infertility testing.

  • Genetic testing:  Genetics plays an important role in infertility and conditions that cause it. We offer genetic screening to help identify options for addressing fertility concerns.

    Extremely poor communication.
    Feb 7, 2026
Communication is extremely poor. They rarely call and only send portal messages 20 minutes before the office closes, leaving no time to ask for more information. The portal also has no reply button. You must stay constantly alert to know what is happening. We often felt left in the dark. I did not receive medication instructions until the last minute, such as “Take this tonight!” Dr. Schwartz is very nice, but honestly, I have not spoken with her in over a month. Orders are often missed or placed late, even though timing is critical because women’s medication schedules depend on their cycles. Before our first cycle, my husband’s lab work was incomplete, yet no one on the team—doctor or nurse—noticed, and we received no notice about the missing test after his initial results arrived. I discussed these issues with nurse coordinator Ann, who also alerted the team that communication needed improvement. Unfortunately, their organizational structure has not improved. The patient experience is terrible. They use multiple payment platforms, each with its own problems, and the platform crashed more than once when I tried to pay. It is a complete mess. Choose another provider.

We have just begun our treatment journey at Rocky Mountain, but our experience has been excellent so far! Dr. Schwartz was very understanding and made us feel at ease. We are excited to continue treatment with her!

The Reproductive Medicine Institute has been an amazing place for my fertility journey. The staff is always kind, helpful, and respectful toward patients. Dr. Amanda is wonderful—she listens, acknowledges my concerns, and makes me feel comfortable throughout the process. I truly appreciate their care and dedication. Thank you
