Dr. Tarnawa graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he ranked first in his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Before joining PREG in 2017, Dr. Tarnawa completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at MUSC in Charleston. He then completed fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and worked in private practice for three years before returning to South Carolina.

Dr. Tarnawa is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He considers a patient’s trust the highest honor a person can receive and welcomes patients at the Summerville and Mt. Pleasant centers in South Carolina’s Lowcountry. He enjoys training students and residents and was honored to be selected alongside other leaders in the field as a coauthor of the current edition of PROLOG: Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, a definitive resource published by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for physicians and other healthcare professionals seeking to assess and update their clinical knowledge.

As a board member at his daughter’s school, Dr. Tarnawa and his family enjoy being part of the downtown Summerville community and spending as much time as possible on Kiawah Island.

    I am currently completing my third IVF cycle with PREG. Although this journey has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life, I cannot adequately express the unwavering support and care their entire team has given me. Dr. Tarnawa exceeded my expectations. He took time to explain every detail of the treatment plan and presented my options with empathy and clarity. He made sure I felt informed and empowered throughout. IVF coordinator Katie has been exceptional, answering every question—and I have had many—and ensuring that I was prepared and supported at every step. The nurses, especially Crystal and Sara, have been lifelines. From follicle growth through egg retrieval, they closely followed my progress and made me feel seen and cared for at every appointment. The process has not been easy, but PREG's family atmosphere has been the foundation that carried me through every difficulty. I could not have come this far without their compassion and expertise. If you want a fertility clinic that treats your journey as its own and stays with you at every step, I wholeheartedly recommend PREG. Whatever the outcome, I will always be grateful for their care and support during this difficult journey.

    Everyone at PREG is wonderful—truly, every single person. IVF is a roller coaster, but I am glad we had such a great team. I am very grateful to Dr. Tarnawa, who traveled this journey with us and successfully implemented a plan that led to my pregnancy. Thank you to all my nurses; I was fortunate to have several, haha. Alexis, Sarah, Crystal, and Mary each supported me in their own way, made me comfortable, and were available whenever I needed anything. They were as excited about the good news as I was.     I will always be grateful to PREG and its Mount Pleasant team for helping me overcome unexplained infertility after my husband and I had tried to conceive for more than 12 months. We were initially referred to Coastal Fertility Specialists before seeking a second opinion at PREG. I am so glad we made that decision! After the consultation, which was a free second opinion, and discussing treatment options, we knew Dr. Tarnawa was the gentle, steady doctor we wanted beside us on this frustrating and uncertain journey. After our second medicated intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycle, we finally became pregnant and are now 15 weeks along. Words cannot express how grateful we are to our team: Dr. Tarnawa, nurse Carolyn, and of course Carla, the lovely front desk staff member who always helped us review our ultrasound results before we left. Going from despair to receiving news we never thought possible feels like a dream. Everyone at PREG was extraordinarily kind, considerate, and caring, supporting us at every step.     If you are looking for a fertility clinic, look no further. After a very poor experience elsewhere, we consulted Dr. Tyson at the Mount Pleasant location. The difference was remarkable. We felt heard and valued and understood nearly everything much better. The entire staff and our overall experience were excellent. We hope not to need fertility care again, but if we do, we will definitely return to PREG!

    They deserve negative stars. Run from this clinic! Two years ago, I saw Dr. Payne for a consultation. I was told I could never have children and needed a hysterectomy as soon as possible. He then gave me the options of using donor eggs or a surrogate. When I said those were not options for me, he replied, "If you wanted a child badly enough, you would change your mind." I do not know who in their right mind would say that to anyone. Thank God I sought a second opinion, because I am now sitting here holding my healthy one-week-old baby, conceived with my own egg. Always seek a second opinion, and never go here or believe a word Dr. Payne says. If I had listened to him, I would not have my perfect baby boy!

    On January 29, 2025, I had an initial appointment with Dr. Nichols at the fertility clinic called PREG in West Columbia, South Carolina. I filed an assault complaint with the City of West Columbia, South Carolina, because during my examination he wore one glove to hold the ultrasound probe while his left, ungloved hand was unclean. While I was in the stirrups, he used that unclean hand and touched my clitoris while inserting the probe. He completed the examination, smelled his finger, and left the examination room with the door open. While the nurse finished the examination, my buttocks were exposed to anyone walking past.

    They are a highly professional and knowledgeable team. I am a patient of Dr. Payne, and he is the best. He truly cares for his patients, listens carefully, and follows through on diagnosis so the problem can be addressed. For a better outcome, this team truly knows what it is doing.

    I cannot thank PREG enough for all they have done to help support me through my fertility journey! I am now 8 weeks pregnant thanks to them and have my last ultrasound appointment with them on Monday. Madison Browning and Dr. Payne have been so great through out this entire experience and I HIGHLY recommend them for all your fertility needs :) The best part of PREG is the communication they give to their patients, I called or messaged with any questions I ever had and they almost immediately got back to me every time. They are so great here I almost wish they could be my OB lol. Also Mrs. Jackie is the best lady for your labwork, she’s hilarious and always calls for an ice pack when you need it (for my case every time).

    When I went to a fertility clinic with an infertility diagnosis, I did not know what to expect, but I found a fertility team that was extremely thorough with testing and diagnosis. Their solutions were reassuring and encouraging and helped me keep moving forward. They truly helped me through one of the scariest times of my life. Dr. Nichols is amazing; I would not be here without him. He was honest and direct and gave us the best options. With his help and that of the wonderful nurses and staff, we are now expecting a miracle baby. I did not know if it was possible, but with their help, we succeeded. I recommend them to anyone experiencing infertility. My husband and I are deeply grateful.

    My husband and I are very grateful to PREG Greenville, especially Dr. Payne, for the wonderful experience she provided. As older prospective parents, we had previously been told at another clinic that IVF using my own eggs had a success rate below 10%. We went to PREG to discuss embryo transfer, but after testing, Dr. Payne was very confident that ‘we could succeed.’ We decided to try conventional IVF. We completed one retrieval, obtained one embryo, and transferred it using a carefully designed protocol. With only one chance, it would have been easy to feel discouraged, but Dr. Payne remained positive throughout treatment. Every member of the PREG care team was responsive, knowledgeable, and treated us like family. At every step, they gave us hope to continue. Today, we visited PREG Greenville to introduce Dr. Payne and the staff to our only child, who was destined to complete our family. I am deeply grateful for our baby girl, who would not be with us today without Dr. Payne and the PREG Greenville staff.

    We are incredibly grateful for the attentive care we received at PREG Greenville. From day one, we genuinely felt the warmth of the PREG family, from Ms. Jackie drawing my blood to the compassionate and professional care provided by Dr. McCoy, Dr. Nichols, and Dr. Payne. Every staff member was welcoming and gave us continual encouragement throughout the process. Our transfer nurse Kristina was especially outstanding. She supported me throughout, was always available to answer my questions, and provided comfort when I needed it most. On graduation day, I could not hold back my tears, not only from the immense gratitude and joy of their helping us create our miracle, but also from sadness knowing we would not see this wonderful team again for a while. The PREG nurses truly care, are always ready to answer questions, calm your nerves, and guide you through the process or next steps.     I do not usually leave reviews, but the care I received at PREG was so exceptional that I had to. The team truly goes above and beyond. Chloe is the nurse everyone needs in their life. She is kind, funny, and incredibly helpful—she made every visit feel easy and stress-free. As Gypsy Rose once said, ‘Things are not always what they seem.’ This time, they seemed great—and they truly were. I met with Dr. Payne—do not worry, the name is misleading—and he was thoughtful and made me feel completely at ease. The entire PREG team is wonderful, but Chloe stands out. 10/10, I would trust her with my uterus again.

    My experience at PREG was wonderful! Dr. McCoy was my primary reproductive endocrinologist. At my first visit, he identified a suspected cause of my infertility and confirmed it with testing. He then presented several treatment options and thoroughly explained the benefits and risks of each. We never felt pressured to choose any particular option. During treatment at PREG, I occasionally saw other doctors for procedures, and they were all excellent. The nursing care was flawless; the nurses were compassionate and happy to address my questions and concerns. My primary nurse, Kristina, was outstanding and very patient, especially in easing my anxiety, as I am naturally anxious. She always addressed or communicated my concerns quickly, and every interaction I had with staff was positive. I highly recommend PREG to anyone struggling with infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss!

    So to start the entire procedure and testing is awkward and vulnerable for a man. No one wants to do what you do here but the staff so polite and respectful and reassuring and most importantly professional when it comes to the task at hand. From the front desk to the lady in the back Mrs. Alyssa the entire group of people are so kind and understanding , they don’t rush you they get to the point and let you go to work literally lol. The room is very private they give you everything and more that you need and when it’s over they explain everything in understandable terms. I praise the lord my test came back in good health and the report was direct and explained everything to me in terms I could understand. My wife and I will definitely use them again and recommended them to everyone.

    I never thought I would write this review. Theodore Roosevelt gave a speech called "The Man in the Arena." In many ways, it resembles this journey—an experience no one would choose as part of their life story. I am still in the arena, waiting to see whether God blesses us with this opportunity. It is an extremely vulnerable position, and I am profoundly grateful that in this vulnerability I found an outstanding team at PREG doing everything possible through treatment to give my husband and me the best chance. It feels as though we now have coaches and support in the arena. At every step, we have been treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. I believe we are receiving excellent care, though the final outcome is in God's hands. I understand how frightening it is to schedule an appointment and consider medical intervention, but I absolutely encourage you to make the brave choice and call for a consultation. The compassionate care we have received so far has exceeded my expectations.

    I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us. They gave us our miracle baby, and I am nearly four months pregnant.     I left this practice 13 months after beginning the journey. Unfortunately, there were many reasons. My first visit was pleasant, and I was excited to join the team. Unfortunately, what they said and what they did were completely different. I waited 3 months, pleading by email and phone for any attention so we could begin the process. I heard nothing from them. Finally, after three months of complete silence, they said they had been waiting for me to contact them. I should have stopped going then. It was not the first time they failed to respond. Perhaps it would have been different if I were not a single woman, but I believe they exploited me because of it. They interviewed me about how much I earned and how many hours I worked. Then I received another $4,100 charge that they refused to explain or even discuss until I paid it, in addition to the initial $7,000 insurance payment. Insurance covered most of my costs here. When I asked for clarification, I was sharply told just to pay. Wow. I could continue, but I will not. If you want a company that respects you, treats your unborn child with dignity, and does not take your money—there was never a bill, only instructions to pay a certain amount—do not go here. I am no longer a patient, yet I received multiple messages asking me to return, as well as rude messages about leaving. Please do not make the mistake I made. Avoid these people and this company!

    After several unsuccessful rounds at another clinic, we came to PREG for a second opinion. Dr. Tarnawa was the first doctor to give us hope, and I will always be grateful. The care and compassion we received were unmatched. Dr. Tarnawa and his nurse Katie consistently provided excellent communication and genuinely cared about their patients. I am now holding my baby and cannot thank Dr. T and his staff enough!

    I have had a wonderful experience as a patient at Preg since August 2024. Dr.Tarnawa has excellent bedside manner. He is kind, patient and very thorough. I also appreciate Leslie, Quinn, Alexis, Katie and Caroline who were always bright smiling faces in the Summerville office. The nursing staff was so prompt in responding to my questions. I am overall so impressed with the Preg team, they deserve all of the praise in the world. Infertility is very emotionally challenging and they were beyond supportive every step of the way!

We were devastated to learn that IVF was necessary for our second child, but Dr. Tarnawa made the journey easier with his kindness and compassion.     My husband and I came to PREG for a second opinion, and it was the best decision we made. Dr. Tarnawa explained our options and plan in great detail. Caroline was our nurse, and I cannot say enough good things about her. I looked forward to seeing her at every appointment, and she was always available to answer questions. Dr. Tarnawa greeted us with warmth, wisdom, and confidence. Throughout our fertility journey, my experience at PREG felt very personalized.     Words cannot express how grateful we are to Dr. Tarnawa, Dr. Immrund, our nurse Katie, and the rest of the PREG team. From the front desk to the finance department, everyone treats you with the utmost empathy and genuinely supports and encourages you. Navigating the uncertainty of infertility is never easy, but receiving the best care certainly makes a tremendous difference. If you are in North Carolina or South Carolina and need a fertility specialist, this is the place to go! We live about 2 hours from the clinic and never hesitated to make the trip for their help.     I cannot say enough good things about PREG in Summerville. PREG was our second choice, and I am glad we ultimately chose it. Driving 4 hours round trip and changing doctors was difficult, but it became one of the best decisions of our lives. Two months at PREG accomplished more than over eight months at an inadequate clinic in Savannah. Dr. Tarnawa welcomes questions, never rushes, and explains everything clearly. I especially want to thank Katie, the clinic’s registered nurse. She responds quickly and answered my countless questions. She is one of the best nurses I have met.     My wife Jenny and I underwent IVF, and it was an excellent experience for both of us.     Where do I begin? I came to PREG during a very difficult time in my wife’s and my life. The moment I entered PREG and met the staff, I felt renewed hope and happiness. From the first meeting, they explained every process in great detail, which truly reassured me. When we decided on IUI, I felt endless support and genuine care from people who had been strangers. Yes, I was a paying client, and some might say it was their job—but the care I felt went far beyond that. Special thanks to nurses Alexis and Caroline; they were a blessing!     Choosing this clinic was one of the best decisions of my life. I was very fortunate to have a successful first IVF cycle. None of it would have been possible without the attentive care of Dr. Tanawa, nurse Alexis, and Jennifer. From the beginning, Dr. Tanawa made me feel safe, heard, and confident. She always explained things patiently and reassured me kindly. Jennifer warmly welcomed me at every visit, and her smile and compassion comforted me when I felt overwhelmed.     We love PREG Summerville and everyone there! Thanks to them, our first transfer resulted in our daughter in 2022, and we recently had another successful transfer with a mosaic embryo. From the very first appointment, the entire team made what can be an overwhelming and emotional process feel respectful, organized, and supportive - Dr. Tarnawa, Katie, Alexis, Mary, Jennifer, and every kind soul from reception to clinical care are angels on Earth.     Update: April 2026: Successful pregnancy and already discussing the next transfer with the same team ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I began my IVF journey with CFS and transferred to PREG after a few years. It was the best decision of my life. Dr. Theisen met with me to discuss my history of miscarriages and what I wanted from PREG, and he fully delivered. The staff are kind and supportive. Whenever I have a question, they respond quickly and without judgment. When I suggested different things I wanted to try, he researched them and worked with me on a new approach. The experience did not and still does not feel transactional; it feels like I have a team behind me working toward the same goal. We tried a completely new protocol and some experimental approaches, and I am now 8 weeks pregnant. I hope the pregnancy continues, but either way, the experience has been amazing. I am sad he cannot also be my OB, but such is life. I cannot recommend PREG and Dr. Theisen highly enough.

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Dr. Tarnawa and Katie were a fantastic team with excellent bedside manner. We felt heard, and Katie was very compassionate. They helped us diagnose and treat a difficult C-section scar defect and endometriosis so we could have our dream baby. We had previously visited another fertility clinic where we felt rushed in and out like cattle. That other popular local clinic made very little effort to address the underlying causes of my wife's fertility issues, and as her husband, they made me feel inferior for trying to understand why we were having fertility problems after conceiving our first child easily. With PREG and its extensive network of doctors, we found and corrected the problem. Overall, we had a great experience at PREG!

    Words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Tarnawa and his outstanding team! First, he is truly an excellent listener. He is considerate, kind, and the best IVF doctor I have ever met. He was very patient and understood my family history of blood clots and my salpingectomy. He kept me on a natural cycle without putting strain on my body or compromising my health. He has truly been a blessing to our family. Last Wednesday, February 18, 2026, we welcomed our beautiful son, Aidan, whose due date was February 28, 2026, after a 5-day 5AA embryo transfer. He is healthy and active, weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces and measuring 20 inches. He is absolutely beautiful and healthy! If we pursue IVF again, we will definitely return to transfer one of our remaining embryos. This clinic is beyond wonderful, and they truly feel like miracle doctors. My husband and I previously went through IVF elsewhere, and it was a nightmare. This clinic, doctor, and entire staff changed everything and gave us a wonderful experience!

    I would recommend them 10,000 times over. My husband and I tried to conceive for 10 years 🫣. We had IUI at another fertility clinic, but the results were not ideal. Then I came across PREG and made an appointment. After meeting Dr. Theisen, he gave my husband and me so much hope. Our first IVF transfer failed, but he continued to reassure us that it would work.     My journey has been a roller coaster full of emotions. Preg has been amazing throughout the entire process. They have become a family to my husband and me. We always felt so welcomed every time we went and always looked forward to our appointments. You meet so many people in this process so to have everyone be so kind and sensitive is amazing. Haley was our NP, and we could not have asked for anyone better! She is straightforward and will not butter things up! But she is so knowledgeable and will be your biggest cheerleader. Katelyn and Michaella are the two ladies you will have the most contact with. They are both so helpful, and they respond promptly to any questions you may have (and I had A LOT of them). The lab ladies take the time to get to know you and make you feel comfortable (you will see them often). The front staff ladies and Holly are all amazing as well.     Incredible expertise and care! They found an issue that a previous infertility clinic had missed, and it made all the difference. At every step, I felt informed, heard, and supported. They never rushed us and proceeded at our pace. When I wanted to move faster, they accommodated me. When I asked to undergo a procedure they recommended, they found the first available opening that same week! I was glad to complete it so I could heal before trying again. I always had time to ask questions and think. At my most emotional moments, every team member was considerate, honest, and supportive. They truly have compassion for patients. They were very attentive with testing and follow-up. They use the best medical tools and latest technology, attend conferences to share and learn from other specialists, and applied some of that knowledge to my case.     We underwent IVF with them in 2022 and successfully conceived my son, who is now two. In 2024, we tried again and unfortunately had 3 failed embryo transfers. It was a very difficult time, but I will never forget how Caitlin, Michaela, Erica, and Genesis were a light every time I entered the clinic. In 2025, we unexpectedly conceived naturally. PREG was the first place I called, and they brought me in as soon as possible to monitor me until I could see my OB.     My experience at PREG was exceptional! I was referred there through the military about two years ago. I needed several treatments to remove fibroids, one of the obstacles I had to overcome. I ultimately obtained 7 healthy eggs and am now 8 weeks pregnant! My doctor was Haley. Although some news was not what I hoped to hear, she wanted the best for me and made sure I became pregnant on my first IVF attempt. The staff were very professional and made my experience comfortable. Leaving was bittersweet because I love the staff, but now I can continue bringing my child into the world.     If I could give more stars, I would! During my husband's and my experience with infertility, the PREG Columbia team was the best team I could have hoped for. Dr. Imgrund, Erica, Michaela, and Katelyn never let me lose hope and treated us with extraordinary care and compassion.     After two years as a PREG patient, I can honestly say this is more than a fertility clinic; it is a place of hope, compassion, and tireless dedication. I arrived with a high BMI, endometriosis, and PCOS, challenges that often make IVF more difficult. Yet I was never made to feel inadequate or hopeless. I underwent four egg retrievals and watched three fellow IVF patients achieve their miracles. Today, I am overjoyed to say that I am finally pregnant with my baby girl. From day one, I expected excellent clinical care, and PREG exceeded those expectations. I felt like more than a patient; I felt like a precious egg, cared for and full of potential. Dr. Haley, Michaella, Katelyn, and Ms. Jenny were gifts from above. Their support and encouragement never wavered. They were beside me through difficult calls, uncertain moments, and quiet victories. I never felt hopeless or alone. Every email and call received a response, and I could advocate for myself. I cried twice during this process.     My OB-GYN referred me to PREG and told me I might never be able to have children. I first met nurse Haley Pollack, who was outstanding. She listened carefully, cared about me, and helped me understand what was happening in my body, and she truly succeeded. I later briefly met Dr. Kathryn Imgrund and Dr. Joe Nichols, who were also wonderful. I am now nearly 29 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and I am very grateful to Haley and PREG. She is absolutely world-class. Throughout the process, she made me feel supported, seen, understood, and treated as an individual. Dr. Rouleau joined our team midway through, and her confidence was very reassuring. My wife and I underwent reciprocal IVF, and despite a difficult journey, we always felt seen, cared for, and understood by the entire team.     *MY APPOINTMENT WAS ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2024. BUT, I WILL CONTINUE TO REFRESH THIS REVIEW FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER TO SOUND THE ALARM FOR OTHERS.* Do not patron this place for your fertility needs, especially as a woman of color. I called TRICARE and my PCP, filed a complaint and transferred care. I have never been so disrespected and hurt by a medical professional. Dr. John E. Nichols, who is the founder and director, was so insensitive. When I walked into his office, I picked up on his demeanor immediately but, gave the benefit of the doubt because of my deep desire for information, reassurance, and pregnancy after miscarriage. When I sat down, he did not ask for my consent for a resident to come in. He exclaimed that he did not have a chart for me but, as I tried to explain my conditions, he was more concerned with talking than listening. I stopped him immediately, corrected, and reminded him to LISTEN. After that incident, the appointment went fairly well. I thought he was aligned with my goals and listening to my concerns…until he abruptly interrupted and asked “so, why do you want to get pregnant?”. I wish I could copy and paste his tone. This was not asking. This was condescending and rude. He mentioned my health concerns with my thyroid and parathyroid but THAT IS WHY I WAS REFERRED TO HIM! He is a FERTILITY ENDOCRINOLOGIST asking me about my reasons for pregnancy?!?! Instantly, I felt the tears come and told him how insensitive he was. At first, he denied his insensitivity. Then, he gave a backhanded apology of “I’m sorry if I made you feel that way.” Yet again, I corrected him. No, it’s not how I feel- there are just things you shouldn’t say to a woman who’s miscarried, concerned, has thyroid issues and YOU’RE A FERTILITY ENDOCRINOLOGIST WITH AN ENDOCRINE PRACTICE. Not only did I walk out hysterically crying but I felt so low. Like, what did I do to deserve that? What makes matters worse is that, before the appointment ended, I told him that I would never be under his care because of his treatment of patients and turns out, it’s HIS PRACTICE. So, even if I’m not directly under him, I’m still “under him”. I was so excited to come to this appointment and I didn’t imagine I would leave in distress. If you are remotely considering this place, do not go in there alone. Please take a support person for protection and patient advocacy. Please take heed to this warning: A doctor should never make you feel like this, and if they do, LEAVE.

    It was wonderful to work with a person/team who truly listened to me before, but recently no one has reached out or responded. So far, two IUI attempts have failed. This journey has been difficult for us for years, and the current situation is even more frustrating. The last thing we want is to lose the relationship we have built since last October.

    I highly recommend PREG. After trying to conceive for several years, my husband and I ultimately underwent IVF at this clinic. Haley was the nurse responsible for our care throughout. She was truly wonderful, and I cannot express how grateful I am. She always made us feel valued and heard, which is rare in healthcare today. I had many questions, and she always answered them patiently without being dismissive. I never had any problems here, whether with billing or contacting staff. All the clinicians and nurses were also very kind. Infertility is one of life's hardest experiences, but PREG made it a little easier.

    April 25 was a very meaningful day. It was the day we graduated from the fertility clinic! When we began our IVF journey a year ago, I dreamed of this day. Our little baby, due around Thanksgiving, is developing well today with a heart rate of 172! We have been through so much during this stage of life. But hearing that tiny heartbeat made every worry, every tear, every injection and procedure, and every mile from home to our clinic in Asheville, North Carolina, which made this dream possible, worthwhile!     My fertility doctor is Dr. McCoy. He is an amazing person who listens to all your concerns, wishes, and needs. Sixteen months later, we are back with a beautiful 16-month-old baby girl and will try again, make the most of it, and pray to God that everything goes as I hope. We want another child, and this is where we will go because it worked and we received excellent care. Aside from being somewhat expensive, it is still worth going because the doctors listen and do their best to help you in every way. PREG is the place to go.

    Dr. Rani and Lauren M were outstanding in providing information, care, and communication. All the staff were warm, welcoming, and professional. From the front desk and assistants to the gentleman drawing blood, everyone made me feel at ease. If I had not chosen fertility treatment abroad, I would trust PREG completely. Lauren did an excellent job ensuring all my records were sent to my international fertility doctor.     2022: Dr. McCoy helped us become parents! We will always be grateful. The staff were amazing! Mikayla put up with all my pointless emails and always replied immediately. Dr. McCoy was genuinely happy for us, and it was clear that he truly wanted to help. If we decide to have another embryo transfer, we will return to him.     I do not know where to begin. Everyone at this clinic—from registration, the lab, coordinators, nurses, and doctors to checkout—was outstanding. They helped my wife and me realize our dream of becoming parents. They supported us throughout and answered our questions and concerns, even when I simply needed reassurance. Dr. McCoy was very thorough, which was undoubtedly an important factor in our success. Coordinator Allison D also exceeded my expectations. She supported and cared for me every time.     Our family will be forever grateful to Dr. McCoy and the staff at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group in Asheville. During the initial consultation, Dr. McCoy analyzed a previous misdiagnosis and identified the root cause of my fertility issues. The staff were lovely and responsive throughout fertility treatment and IVF, which included a myomectomy, laparoscopic excision of endometriosis, egg retrievals, and implantation.     When my husband and I first started trying to conceive, we never imagined that infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss would become part of our story. The journey was heartbreaking at times, but PREG made it much more bearable. Before working with PREG, I had already experienced two pregnancy losses and was struggling to conceive again. I wasn't sure I fit their typical patient demographic, so I was hesitant to reach out. However, I knew something wasn't right with my body. My cycles were lasting over 60 days, and I was experiencing significant pain. In one year alone, I saw seven different OB-GYNs. I repeatedly heard the same things: that I was being impatient, that pain was normal, or that there was nothing wrong and it was all in my head. When I called PREG, they scheduled an appointment right away. We met with Dr. McCoy and Dr. Nichols, who took the time to listen to our concerns and recommended further testing. For the first time, I felt heard. Through their care, I finally received a diagnosis of endometriosis. One thing I truly appreciated about PREG was that they never pressured us into any specific treatment. In fact, IVF wasn't even mentioned initially. My husband and I wanted to take a slower approach with as few interventions as possible, and the doctors respected that. When we eventually felt ready to discuss IVF, we brought it up ourselves. We ultimately decided to move forward with IVF. At the time, we didn't have fertility insurance, but we qualified for PREG's refund program (this was in 2023, so I'm not sure if it is still offered). We could only afford one IVF cycle, and we ended up with one embryo. I became pregnant and graduated from PREG, but sadly, I miscarried at 12 weeks. I was devastated. When I received the news, my husband wasn't with me. I didn't know who else to call, so I called PREG. My IVF nurse answered, and when I broke down crying, she offered to drive to my OB's office and sit with me until my husband arrived. He walked in shortly after she made the offer, but I have never forgotten that kindness. Later that day, I needed a D&C at Mission Hospital. Dr. McCoy heard the news and came by to check on us. That moment showed me that PREG doesn't treat patients like numbers. They genuinely care about the people they serve and become invested in their patients' journeys. That meant so much to us to have him check on us and I will never forget that. Later, we were fortunate enough to obtain fertility insurance. Combined with a portion of the money we received back through the refund program, we were able to afford another round of IVF. This cycle resulted in more embryos, and eventually another pregnancy. In April 2025, we welcomed our miracle baby girl into the world. She is absolutely perfect. I will always be grateful to PREG, especially Dr. McCoy, for helping us bring our daughter home. While our journey was far from easy, we never felt alone, and that made all the difference.

    I recommend this group to anyone who wants a family and is having difficulty conceiving. I spent 9 months with them after two miscarriages and am now 10 weeks pregnant. They are very kind. They identified the problems and addressed them. My OB-GYN referred me, and I am glad I went.

    There truly are not enough words to describe my gratitude to PREG Spartanburg. Infertility causes profound pain that many people cannot understand unless they have experienced it. Every staff member validates your feelings and understands the physical and emotional toll. We were patients here for two years, and the staff always made us feel like family. Nurse Stephanie is an absolute angel who guided me through every step. Caroline always answered every financial or insurance question with a smile. After multiple procedures, two rounds of IVF, and two transfers, we are finally expecting our miracle baby! He is due in March 2025! We are so grateful to PREG for helping us have our miracle baby!

    This place engages in deceptive billing. They quote what you must pay while you are there, then send additional bills after you leave and blame insurance. Perhaps they should learn to bill people accurately the first time. Stay away from this unprofessional place; none of this was explained before we left.

    This is an unsuccessful IVF story after several months of treatment/cycles and approximately $25,000 in expenses. My husband and I wanted a boy, so we had a consultation, preliminary screening, and extensive bloodwork. We were told our chances were good and insurance would cover 90%, leaving us to pay approximately $8000. We were pleased and paid. A few days later, we were told insurance would cover nothing and that we had to pay the remaining amount—another $8,000. We were shocked because we had provided our insurance card at the consultation. How could the amount change so much after we had paid in full? Still, our hope for a boy overrode our instincts, and with the discount they offered, we paid the balance and began the cycle. We also paid thousands out of pocket for various tests and pharmacy costs. Every check, whether a scan or blood test, brought positive results and good news. At retrieval, they collected 26 eggs; 17 were mature, and 14 fertilized successfully! I could almost see pregnancy around the corner. However, they told me only 3 were biopsied, and 1 male embryo was identified. For comparison, a friend in California had 28 eggs retrieved, 12 biopsied, and 9 male and 3 female embryos. We were unhappy with the biopsy result, but because there was one male embryo, we proceeded with transfer. Two weeks later, bloodwork showed no pregnancy. A nurse called and said a possible blood-clotting issue may have caused the failure, so they wanted more blood tests. They are very good at avoiding responsibility for the technical aspects!

    I cannot say enough good things about PREG! After years of infertility treatment at another clinic, we came here and received many of the answers and the IVF plan we needed. They were very kind and genuinely cared about us. I was actually sad on the day we were fortunate enough to graduate. Without them, I would not be 21 weeks pregnant tomorrow. They helped me through an ectopic pregnancy and are always so kind whenever I come for an appointment or over the phone. We just received a positive test, so they clearly know what they are doing and how to help us. I wish we could stay with them throughout these nine months!     Our pregnancy journey began with natural conception and an ectopic pregnancy. With only one remaining fallopian tube that appeared nonviable, my husband and I were referred for fertility treatment. We searched for the best nearby fertility clinic, and PREG Spartanburg appeared in our results. Optimism and hope radiated from every team member, and we knew it was the right place to continue our journey to parenthood. Even after I was diagnosed with hydrosalpinx, the team diligently provided excellent care and offered as many treatment options as possible before we decided on surgery. After several failed treatments, we concluded that surgery offered the best chance of successful embryo transfer. Dr. McCoy cared for me attentively during and after surgery and remained hopeful that I could transfer an embryo the day after surgery. After two more failed transfers and using all our embryos, we met to determine the best path forward. Stephanie Biggerstaff answered every question and responded promptly whenever I had concerns. We decided on a second IVF cycle to retrieve more eggs. This time, the embryos were genetically tested to rule out potential causes of failed implantation. Each protocol was adjusted slightly to ensure everything possible was in place for a successful transfer. After countless prayers and much faith and trust, our third transfer succeeded! After a two-year fertility journey, we finally achieved our dream. My husband and I decided not to take a pregnancy test before Stephanie called with the blood-test result. On the day she was due to call, we compromised and took one test as a ‘preview.’ We left it covered with paper on the bathroom counter while we waited and hoped. We looked at each other, counted down, and removed the paper. After two years, we finally saw a bold positive pregnancy test. The last positive we had seen was with the ectopic pregnancy. Thirty minutes later, Stephanie called, and I could almost hear her smiling. She joyfully told us the blood pregnancy test was positive. She even said that before opening the result, she kept telling herself, ‘Please let it be positive.’ Her words touched us deeply. They confirmed what we already knew: PREG Spartanburg wanted us to become parents as much as we did. They genuinely cared and wanted our deepest wish to come true. My husband and I did not choose this journey; it chose us. Without it, we could not have understood what a true miracle looks or feels like, nor experienced such genuine compassion and love from strangers. We would not have understood God's power or how He works through such beautiful souls to fulfill our heart's desire. It was a long journey with many highs and lows. Now, standing on the mountaintop and looking across the valley, we thank God for flowers that needed time to grow. Words cannot express our gratitude to PREG Spartanburg. Thank you for reminding us that flowers also grow in the valley.
